This small Pallavaram forest has a lot of abandoned places and its not allowed to the public frequently because of Police VHF Repeater Station which is functioning at the hilltop. Currently, it belongs to fitness enthusiasts for strength training activities. Such a perfect destination for a morning ride in Chennai on pleasant weather conditions. It's not safe in dark.

There is an old temple converted into a mosque in this place. That place is also restricted. Cavalry of arcot nawabs were entrenched here in 16-17 00s, which explains the mosques and large Muslim population here. This camp was taken over by British after arcot lost his title due to doctrine of lapse. Nice trip guys👍

lol. As usual. I know the history. Me and my family live near the foot hills. In our country when there is a mountain everyone wanted to built their religious place. The efforts to built a temple was stopped by the local authorites many years back because there was already a Dargah (not a mosque as u mentioned) there where a old muslim saint was buried. Recently some years back one of the member of a hindu outfit created a google map entry saying it was "Panchapandava Cave Temple" to create mischief for a local election. After that many people are reviewing in gmaps and some believe it is a temple converted into a mosque. locals laugh at these idiots.

Howtham, just thought to tell you to explore the place in thirusoolam. I have visited in Feb 2020. But was rainy at the time of my prescense. We climbed at 3.30 to 4 pm.
Its called Pallavaram Hill.
There was the ruins of an old 18th century Bungalow on top.
Once the observatory was built it became a restricted zone.I went with my school to the top ,by foot there was no road then.and it was believed to be a favourite place for ghosts , thats what the locals believed back in the days.
