I accidentally bumped into a movie named " hey God it's me Margaret" while searching for this headache named "the archies" , both the movies are based on the 70s era, and middle-class teenagers .. but such a shame to Indian film industry, Bhai itna bhadda movie hai infront of the US one I watched.. highly recommend guys please watch that movie!

Adaption is totally fine but at least they should have adopt in an Indian culture without changing the source material and plot , for example Agastya Nanda's character is Adarsh which is based on Archies character just like Pavitr Prahabakar is based on Peter Parker and other actors as Indian characters based on the og characters in a totally Indian environment. Also the actors have tried very hard to look white and westerner to appease them and that's the main reason many people didn't liked or are not interested in the movie.

YES!!! Place like Riverdale is in Uttrakhand only, its LANDOUR near Mussoorie where the Indo-Indians live like Thomas Beach Alter who was an Indian Actor as well & he had acted in movies like Lagaan. landour however has become a tourist destination, morning & evening walks theres feel like Heaven❤

The characters portrayed in Archies is nothing like real life Anglo indians. Also Archies has more to do with American culture while Anglo indians have to do with British culture. Both very different

I understand bad story or song or acting which are valid criticisms. Relatability? Realism? JAWAAN se leke RRR tak kuch realism nahi hai humare films me. Mainstream Hindi "Commercial" cinema stopped being "realistic" after the 1970s. I don't understand ki why people need something to be 100% realistic to just enjoy it. Har picture dark ya crime based hone se nahi hoga na.

But it wasn’t exclusively Christian and neither is Goa.
The movie is shit but Zoya has very creatively transposed the Riverdale, America, setting to India, keeping the same characters.
Also, if you have a teenager studying in an international school in Mumbai or Bangalore (not NCR), they speak the same English drawl.

The cinematography and the wardrobe was amazing. Vedang (reggie) and aditi (ethel) acted well and looked good. Jughead and dilton were okay. The nepo trio was the most horrible, especially betty (khushi?) who was the worst actor and the least interesting to look at. The acting brought the whole movie down. It had a good premise, very cute and nostalgic aesthetic but when the actors can't act, nothing can save the film. I have seen high school plays that had better acting that this bunch. Archie, vernonica and betty should have been played by actors who could actually do their parts some justice. The dialogues were okay, but extremely cheesy (high school play quality). Zoya could have made this a great movie if she wasn't pandering to these nepos.

This was plot of every sunny deol movie in 90s.. just that he was able to do some actions and act better otherwise these plots where just popular around 90s. Zoya couldn't do shit even the best directors couldn't have done anything with such poor plot.

@@asthasingh8431 suhana was bad. No doubt about it. But her snooty nepo air suited her character. Khushi didn't suit the role and her dialogue delivery was completely flat. Suhana had a little more expression in her dialogues. She and agastya were both very awkward and stiff but both of them were slightly better than khushi (whose dialogue delivery looked like she was ai, kinda reminded me of fardeen khan from that haseen dard movie lol). Poor sridevi must be rolling in her grave. If the actor who played ethel, aditi, had been given Betty's role and vedang had been archie (although i think he suits reggie a lot, so there could have been someone else who played archie), i think the movie would have turned out to be better.

This is exactly what I thought, when India was in a fucked up place, only riverdale had richest poor.
60s India WAS like this. Heavily Anglicised. Watch any 60s movie. The Hill stations left with British architecture, looked Exactly like this. 60s young generation was distant from the hardships of Freedom fight. Britishers had barely left India. The Elite Indians enjoyed the Anglo lifestyle, and cultural practices. Impressions of the Colonial era, taught by Britishers. Slowly slowly we re-found our identity and returned back to our culture.
The greatest example is Mera Naam Joker (Rishi Kapoor's story)
i second this...there were so many movies shot in those hillstations which lavish sets...and typical story of wealthy family...for example...Humraaz 1967, Aa gale lag jaa 1973..

@@princesolanki5914 Mera naam joker came much later. U should watch Aa gale lag ja, Talaash, Sharmili, Andaz, Junglee, Daag etc. Indian hill stations & Kashmir looked Heavenly in those movies. Acres wide Huge bungalows. Convent schools & hospitals were heavily featured in those movies. And they celebrated everything with a lot of western style parties.
