Hi guys. This will be a little long comment. I'm a retired Canadian boater who just boated in the Canadian sides of the Great Lakes. In the Georgian Bay, I ran into alot of loopers. But on the net, I saw a young couple who were just raving about Trent canal, Georgian Bay and the North Channel, so I looked deeper into them and they have total complete videos of their total loop.
They bought an old boat that needed alot of work and away they went. Document every problem you may occur, things you would want to see and things you would to bother with. I got so totally wrapped up in their videos, that I have watched every one of then from the start of their trip to the end.
They are Scho and Jo. If you put their name in the CZcams search they should come up. Trader has a great reputation and your boat looks in alot better shape than what they started with. Oh ya, they had a pup as well.
Don't let some of the people that try to put you off. They are people who haven't in them to do anything.

I learned a long time ago that the best way to get ready to buy a boat is go stand in the shower and stuff 100.00 bills down the drain. When you get very good at it, you are ready to buy a boat. Good luck.

Congratulations on the new boat. Did you get it surveyed and have a mechanic check the engine and take oil samples? Did you find any soft spots in the deck or superstructure? Old Marine Traders often have core and rot problems in the deck houses. What power does it have? A trusty old Lehman Ford? Do you have a bow thruster? They are huge assets in a single-screw boat. Looking forward to a tour of the boat! BTW I keep a boat right next to the mooring field you were on in Manatee Pocket in Stuart.

My parents had that exact boat 1979 or 1980 it’s a great boat built like a tank can handle a lot of seas. The teak and brass are a full time job to keep them looking nice but worth the effort. I really like your channel and wish you safe and happy travels 👍

Nice vlog, in future more of boat, less of you talking. Can't wait for specs - power, depth, height of mast ( loop-related), galley arrangement, any changes you plan to make before getting underway. Also, what level of boating experience for both of you. Fair winds and following seas...
The key is trying to get folks or yourself to do the repairs without the marina involved.. As Marinas have a major premium on any repairs they do.

Thats awesome. I do the same thing. I look at this boat and that boat and settle on what I want yet....lol. I am really waiting until I get moved completely to Florida and then get serious about buying a boat. Great video.

enjoy that fuel bill motoring around. sailboat would have been more cost efficient.
For the Great Loop the mast would cause quite a problem at some of the fixed bridges. We would love to buy a sailboat in the future but for now this will be great for the loop!
Best thing to see uf you really want to do the loop .. drive your biat 8 hiurs a day for 14 days. Only sleep on the boat and shop at Walmart. After that you relize driving all day for a year would suck... Plus you see how much gas cost to run your boat every day all day for 9 months. Best bet just relax in Kentucky and Tennessee
We have some family in Kentucky so we'll definitely be doing some relaxing there :)

Unfortunately no. We want to make sure we are comfortable with operating the boat & also make a few updates. Also still ironing out our remote work situations!
Did John buy the boat just to do some upgrades and then flip it? Why did he ultimately sell it again after a year of owning it?
John owns a boat yard in Boston & has worked in the marine industry all his life. He was looking for a boat that he could winter with in the keys while doing a couple updates then sell!
