Terry, your videos inspired me in leather jacket collection. Recently, I collected about 30 jackets. The problem is, they are expensive. I am looking for better ways to take care of them, so they can last longer. In your Lost Worlds jacket videos, you mentioned applying Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly) can improve the condition of dry jackets. I researched that some people make their own leather balm by mixing beeswax, tallow, and vegetable oil (coconut, almond oil, etc). The beeswax is for waterproofing, tallow for conditioning, and vegetable oil for the solvent. I am surprised that you use Vaseline on leather, it may have waterproofing property, but will it be enough for conditioning fine leather jackets? Do you use other products besides Vaseline on your jackets? I am new to leather jackets, so am interested in your opinion on leather care. It will be nice if Vaseline can replace some of the more expensive leather care products, but I am not sure about the long-term consequence of applying Vaseline on leather. If you can shed some light on your experience of using Vaseline on leather care, that will be greatly appreciated.
Li Liu you asked me because it was recommended by 8 top leather jacket maker. Again, I do not treat newer jackets only older jackets that need it. Who jacket doesn't need conditioning don't do it
Hi Terry, did you put vaseline jelly on the jacket to condition it?
Li Liu No. I do nothing to the new jackets. Treatment is for. Dry jackets only
