Same with Pohang Steelers, (the most successful team in ACL with 3 titles. 2009 club world cup third place team) more than 50% of Pohang's players grew up under Pohang's own youth system. China also needs teams like Pohang and Bilbao

true! the development of soccer comes from communities. what the chinese system usually does is to put talented youth all together at one place to train them. And mostly they are lack of real tournament experiences. However, many other parts of the world they develop teams and leagues in the communities. see how the english run their system and how many levels and teams in their system. Also, like the US, which is catching up with the traditional strong soccer nations so rapidly the past 10 years, they do their school sports system. Talented youth play in high school and/or college leagues, then they go pro. This is how they run their football and basketball system, which they have done so successfully.

Just going to point out that China does have a team like Pohang. Shanghai East Asia in the Chinese Super League has only 3 foreigners and all of their Chinese players are from their academy, not bought.

Admittedly, in terms of the National team, Korea did better than China, but the best team in Asia is Japan rather than Korea. Japan has Kagawa, Honda,Yuto Nagatomo,Atsuto Uchida, they all play for the most famed club like Man U Moscow, international Milian . what about you Korean Guy ? Our chinese are the best nationality in the world. In tennis, we have Li Na who is the first Asian player to win the France Open. As for basketball, We have Jerimy Lin and Yao ming. For racing, Liuxiang is the Champion of 110-metre Hurdle Race . What about you Korean guy? Please solve the problem of north Korea at first, and then talk about football and other with our Chinese and Japanese.

What is up with all the hate here. It was a great game, both teams played well, Guangzhou won because of the away goals rule. I am a Guangzhou fan myself but have to recognize that they are powered by the 3 South Americans and Kim Young Gwon played amazing in the last match. FC Seoul is also powered by Dejan's finish and Escudero's runs. Their defending was resilient, the best I have seen against Guangzhou this tournament. However, a team is still a team. For those who think that Guangzhou will go away, as long as they have the money they will dominate in Asia like Bayern does in Europe. Essentially it is going to be the Chinese national team plus a great Asian player plus 3 of the best foreigners on the continent. And also Lippi who has won just about everything, world cup, Uefa CL, ACL,
I don't like where Chinese soccer is going, we are spending way too much on foreign talent. Shandong Luneng's 12 million dollar buy of Vagner love is retarded. Shenhua's previous buys of Anelka and Drogba even worse. But for now, I will rejoice the moment.

FC Seoul's foreigners are far cheaper than Guangzhou's. Dejan is valued at half the price of Conca. Elkeson is more expensive than Dortmund's former lead striker Barrios. And still, FC Seoul's foreigners can score and wreak havoc on Guangzhou's defense cause Seoul's Korean players play at an advanced level and support them well.

Congratulations to Guangzhou Evergrande and Chinese football. I can't believe, even now, Korean media pays closer attention to baseball, while completely neglecting this "Asian Superbowl" match (even though the baseball season is over) their favoritism toward baseball disgusts us Korean football fans every time. If China pours all resources to football, it will have significant effect on development of sports in Asia. cause politics, sports, economy of China's neighbors largely depend upon those of China. investing in baseball is a complete waste of money, resources. Baseball is a lost cause, hence it was removed from the Olympics and Asian Games. I hope Korea, Japan, Taiwan should think better not to invest in such a shitty sport, but instead invest in football.

Seoul was quite lucky last night, I guess they have done whatever is possible on the referee side, just like what they did in 2002 World Cup. To me the performance of Korea Soccer Team in 2002 WC is completely like a joke. Certainly only a few can qualify for World Cup Finals, some go for Champions, some go for break-through, and some merely display unfair gaming and under-table corruption. Korea has once again employed similarly disgusting strategies in this dual, where they broke its promise and refused to provide training facilities to Guangzhou before the 1st leg. Guangzhou should have scored more goals, but Seoul simply does not deserve this.

Modern football is not all about money. Look how Atletico Bilbao (team that consists of only Basque players) beat ManU 2 years ago. Pohang Steelers in K league is entirely made up of Koreans (NOT A SINGLE FOREIGNER IN THE TEAM) and is currently ranked 2nd in K league Classic. Youth systems are far more important, and as for Barcelona, Messi, Pedro, Iniesta, Xavi are all Barcelona's own players. They learned to be footballers under Barcelona youth system since childhood.
