  • Yelich Drill into progression. Focal point right in front of tee. Through your swing aggressively attack the ball to hit it straight down. Don’t manipulate your hands and separate to force the ball to go down. Through YOUR SWING drive that ball down.
We always miss under as hitters, this drill shows that. Find your focal point that produces a nice hard back spin up the middle.
You have to fully commit to your focal point. You go half way, the drill won’t get you anywhere.
Once you’re getting through your swing down hill, work the progression by putting multiple balls up the tunnel. 3-5 swings at each ball, progressing toward the outfield. Fully commit to hit the ball as hard as you can off the ball on the ground. Work this forward into a hard, strong, backspin line drive result.
Use this on the tee, front toss, BP. Once you find your focal point that produces the backspin line drive, use that as your swing thought in game.

Did it with a U10. Underhand hardball soft toss with speed. 15 pitches to plate 10ft out. 15 pitches to homeplate . Then 10 normal pitches. Smoked the ball hard line drives. Did another round right after , same thing. Going to do this a few more practices b4 game. Hitter had a tendency to hit hard into the ground. Now it looks like decent line drive shots. We’ll see if it keeps up.

Bro, you’re nowhere close to what yelich was talking about. You’re trying to create backspin by swing down on the ball. That’s not the drill bonds was teaching him

Per a Yelich interview Bonds didn't accept the result until he hit it straight down into the plate. So yours are all "misses" no? As for me I tried the drill and wasn't able to come close to hitting it straight down. I finally gave up and did actually hit some lasers with backspin, so there seems like there's value to this drill. It just doesn't seem much like anything Yelich described

lol it’s because the placement of the T if the T is out in front as he has it it’s usually an inside pitch otherwise down the middle and opposite you would let it get deeper
