    ⚡️My Muse Reactions Playlist: • MUSE Reactions
    In this video I react to Exogenesis Symphony by Muse from the Resistance Album, released in 2009. There are 3 sections to it: Overture, Cross Pollination, Redemption.
    Hi, I'm Dean Wolfe, a classic prog-rock guitar teacher on CZcams. I grew up on 70s progressive music but abandoned the genre by the 90s because it was too 'hard-edged' for me. My all-originals prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i went into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar).
    2020 was the year of my return to prog and the discovery of 30 years of great music which I'd paid no attention to- until now!
    I also will react to 70s and 80s prog that i overlooked, like gentle giant, camel, etc.

    This is my first time listening to this, although its definitely not my first time listening to Muse. I think it sounds great but idk if this could really be considered one song. I can see the thematic and stylistic link between the parts but each one feels like a self contained song with a defined beginning and end. not like movements flowing into each other.

    • @jcompton8507
      @jcompton8507 Před 3 lety +2

      But it's meant to be like a mini symphony. And, to me at least, symphonies often have obvious starts and stops between each movement. I've been in audiences where orchestras have played, for example Holst's The Planets, outside of the normal concert hall to attract new (and younger) crowds. And when the movements have ended, the audience didn't know whether or not to clap before the next movement began - the break was that obvious...

      Ooooooooh. I love Grizzly Bear. In comparison to the stadium rock or concert hall sounds of Muse, Grizzly Bear's songs almost sound like music around a campfire under a vast, starry sky.
      Not really, but Veckatimest is definitely a bit more low-fi than any of Muse's albums...other songs I love are Ready Able, Easier, On a Neck On a Spit, or Fine for Now.
      And Shields sounds like a soundtrack for a really awesome roadtrip. I especially would recommend Half Gate, Sleeping Ute, Sun in Your Eyes, or Speak in Rounds.
      My favorite song of Daniel's is with another of his bands called Department of Eagles called In Ear Park. His guitar work almost sounds like a harp to me.
      Grizzly Bear makes me think of wide open spaces, whereas Muse is like the coolest sci-fi.
