Johnny's ability to roll with absolute nonsense really is legendary.
Truly it is, it also fascinates me how he is able to always come up with unique voice and personality for each npc and remember whos who the whole time, I wonder if he has ever received proper training as an actor cus he could be a one man show.

I think that’s the reason I like watching him dm he works with his players not against them.
I watch other shows that can get really serious and emotional at times so it's very nice to come here and seeing Egbert go "can i divine smite my fire breath" and Johnny being like "fuck it why not, you kill half the skeletons"
I personally like these pre-recorded sessions, especially with the little edits that are put in.
Yeah, i especially like that they're a bit longer. Having adventures that are only an hour long feel pretty rushed.
@@krise99391 yeah. Its not really a matter of length its just that they seem to get more time to think about what they want to do and the dm gets to fully deliver the quest.

@@krise99391 Yeah, the live shows are fine, but it always ends up a bit rushed at the end (such as when the mysterious otherworldly voice screamed at them to leave the premises).
Not to mention they're usually visually uninteresting.

Egbert reality. I am returning to the city of my holy order with, negative atonement disguised as a giant sea horse over the shoulders of a bard and a pirate telling people they can look at me for one copper coin like he's P.T Barnum.Minus one kidney.
I don't know what I was expecting from Egbert's inevitable homecoming, but I'm not disappointed. XD
On the bright side, it was one hell of a disguise.

Haha - Jane's face when Mike said "Juggle my tinnies" was priceless! You could almost see the thought-process ending with "Oh, TINNIES".
My favorite thing is Andy just going "Okay, fine" and taking off his eye patch making Johnny immediately going "Okay now it takes very little time for you to adjust"
Best thing is, that's legitimately what eye patches were used for - having an eye that's already dark-adjusted for when you need to go below deck. Astronauts on the Apollo missions used them too :)

Kemp Plays it did. The build team set up a darkroom obstacle course for Adam and Jamie to run through. It was the first Pirate Special they did.

For a minute I got concerned he was actually upset about the choice of quest.
I think he was afraid of mucking it up...he obviously had foreknowledge considering its the quest to do with HIS backstory...i'm sure him and johnny had some sort of alone talk about the stuff egbert knows that the rest of the party doesn't......I've ran a lot of games with people that are playing for their first time...and i've seen a lot of newer players worry about giving too much or too little away when they're in that situation...the expression is definitely similar...

So many things I loved here:
Everyone sprinting everywhere (sprint is the new mode of transportation),
Prudence and Corazon grimacing when Dob wants to talk about feelings,
Johnny's face when Dob suddenly uses Calm Emotions for the first time,
Prudence using her spider climb for the first time (actually I love that everyone's trying out their new skills),
Dob using Calm Emotions but Corazon (and Merilwen) aren't affected so he continues to pick a fight and then the sudden "Indifference ends if the target is attacked or harmed...",
whenever Calm Emotion wears off in the middle of their conversation and they have to think quick, Merilwen suddenly turning into a bear was hilarious,
and how AMAZING the video editing job has been, I love the graphics, I love how well they reflect what they're all doing, and I appreciate all the effort put into it.
Is Merilwen just going through different nature phases? I swear with the amount she hangs out with prudence she’s gonna get into a volcano phase.
Edit: I love how the CZcams survey is 100 that they succeed in their plans.
Ajc 7575 she could probably learn how to communicate with volcanoes and the like the way she can with trees too but it’d be just like talking to any other old geyser so what’s the point really

Wow. I’m not saying you killed the mood, but I sprinted into my thoughts and began almost deciding how the characters would die for memoirs to be a thing and had to snap out of it.
The Oxventurers are like the D&D Guardians of the Galaxy. You have Prudence who’s Gamora (obviously), Merilwen who’s Rocket (because animals), Egbert who’s Groot (because dumb kind and strong), Corazón who’s Star-lord (also obvious), and Dob who’s Drax.
I suppose this makes sense. Drax, while he looks like the team tank/dps, he's actually more into the dex stuff (daggers), and that's exactly what Dob is.
This is a surprisingly close comparison.

Corazon's loyalty to Meowlwin was the most honorable he's been the whole campaign. I half expected him to sell the cat for the sweet, sweet loot.
I... did not hear "tinnies" during Egbert's intro. It was something that rhymed with "kitties", and would be anatomically impossible for a reptile.

I'm pretty sure Spider Climb just let's you walk up walks as if they were the floor, but I love that the whole creepy Dracula climb is just how Prudence rolls.

10/10 Corazon tries to steal the wealth of the Paladin Order.
Plot twist, the order took vows of poverty, abd Egbert accidentally earned colossal wealth, clogging up the entire castle with coin. They can't just dump it on the town, they are too responsible to crash the local economy. Thus, the party and it's larcenous ways are the atonement our boy was looking for all along.

The live adventures are pretty funny, especially with crowd input, but I prefer these prerecorded adventures just because Johnny gets to work everything out a bit more and not rush through just to finish in time.

i love how every table has their own style, something like critical role takes their lore and their storytelling very seriously, the oxboxtra crew, has sir jeeves with quest gives who have question marks over their heads, and both are just as great

I was thinking the exact same thing... that is exactly what my druid would have done... Infiltrate their ranks and gather intel from the inside. You do have to admit it was kind of cute to see Corazón actually fight to protect one of the group instead of taking the side of greed...😅

@@blakearmentrout7717 She has gotten an ability to breath under water for some time, that could be coupled with a new aquatic wildform but I don't think she would do that.
@Sol Thats right I totally forgot water breathing was the ability she chose during the level up, I kept hoping she took summon wild spirits or whatever it was called, so she could go wolf and do a pack attack or somthing.

The Great Pickle Quest of 2019 is now one of my favorite Oxventure moments.
It is also the safest quest the guild has ever undergone: no collateral damage whatsoever. Unless you're a pickle hiding in a jar from an elderly woman wanting to eat you.
I love it when they play D&D this way instead of playing it live in front of people. They have plenty of time this way and they don't rush through stuff 🙌

Well time constraints isn't a thing when it's pre-recorded. Johnny doedn't have to rush them as much which is great

When I started watching Oxventure content I had no idea how deeply invested I would get into this! It makes me laugh even on days when I feel like crap.
I know the stories johnny tells are amazing and the ox crew adds Awsome humor to it

I like how Johnny tried to give them a way to get Merilwen (sold as a cat) in to infiltrate the gang from within and the Oxventurers were having absolutely none of it.
I've learned that whenever a GM describes something as 'Beautiful' and/or 'Lovely' it means it's either gonna be burned down or secretly be an illusion and/or a plot by some villainous mind flayer.

I feel bad that Eggbert spent the episode on Dob's shoulders, I like it when he gets to speak up and make an impact.
Putting in a probably wrong guess now: Egbert betrays the party and is secretly the one planning to poison the paladins. What he’s actually been gunning for this whole time is vengeance, not atonement.
