@@DM-rc4yu You can’t be buying a watch from China and expect above and beyond support. Especially for items you’ve already paid for, they are more than likely to ignore you. I had payment issues and I wanted to change my order multiple times and they replied to my emails in like 5 minutes. I was pretty surprised honestly.

It’s a shame you’ve got a bad one with that Tisell. I’ve got a Tisell Explorer homage and I couldn’t be happier with the quality. The extra long centre links on the end links aren’t the best visually but I can live with them for the price.

I don't want to be mean, but you do know that the 'real deal' Rolex bracelet has gaps between the links, right? They are there for venting the wrist and not pinching hair or trapping wrist heat, as another channel usually puts it. Also the bracelet on the San Martin seems too thick, unrefined and over-built to be truly the best. Refinement is also a sign of quality. That is why a Mercedes S-class is considered more luxurios than a tank.

    • @ilikewatches
      @ilikewatches  Před 3 lety +4

    • @notyourtypicalwatchreview2563

Some reviewers complain about gaps, whilst others say the bracelet is more flexible and therefore more comfortable. Comparison reviews are all well and good, but while I love my Toyota Corolla- the best car I’ve ever had- comparing it to a Mercedes costing three times as much, is a trifle unfair.

My San Martin arrived with only 1 of 4 springbar ends actually seated in the lug hole. It took some work with a round file to get the other 3 to seat, and 1 is still not fully seated, enough to prevent dislodging, but I expected this detail to be a no-brainer.

Great type of content that individuals can hardly afford!
I would appreciate you make (more editing-intensive) more macro shots and face to face (2 watches on the same screen) so that we clearly see the differences.
I like rating systems some YT channels set up, so that we get:
    - elements of comparison that we'll be able to reuse for our future buys (bracelet flexibility, brushing/polishing consistency and finesse, type of pins, marks of machining, finish, gaps between the links)
    - a quantitative way of comparing watches, not only qualitative appreciations.
    - a deeper understanding of price difference, when it's based on technical work involved in the machining

Almost lost a finger today, changing bracelet for strap, on my SM v3 two tone. The edges on the lugs is soo sharp! They have yet to make me bleed, but close. Still for me the best out there. My only complain is the that and to some extent the sharpness of the bracelet. Round that off a bit and you have a watch that would be at least 1-2K if it was a Oris/Tissot level Swiss brand. It has the best proportions! Super lume, solid built. Got my 5th San Martin on the way (new SN058 date just)

Great work, Gary. I really enjoyed the close ups at the end. It's funny when seeing these five together like that at the beginning of the video, you notice quite quickly that there are some noticeable differences between these bracelets. Cool.
Pertruding male center links from the end-links is one of the most stupid things ever, San Martin seemed to sinned least here in that matter I think. I get that the original prolly had male center links like that.
However, look at how Strapcode does their, ahem, "O-style" male center links for the SKX models (and probably others?): It curves down nicely, and doesn't make the L2L size noticeable bigger like many others. Learn from that. Otherwise, female end center links is always superior IMHO.

Does the quality of the watches go in the same order?
What is the price difference between the worst and the best?
Very interesting video, the differences are amazing.

Well, that Steeldive has less flex than my Casio twin sensor, so it's still good 🤔😁😂🤣

It's 2023 and I've purchased not long ago a San Martin Water ghost (Rolex submariner homage) with black dial ceramic bezel sapphire glass and sapphire glass date window 2.5 magnification cyclops it has an unbelievable lume it runs on a NH35a automatic movement the quility is beautiful and it has a very eye catching wrist presence and because I bought that and not a real Rolex submariner I can also buy a new car and if I get mugged or robbed in the violent criminal run England of today then I have not lost a fortune..✌️🧐🇬🇧🇺🇦

Comparing San Martin to the rest is unfair - it's like comparing Rolex to an Invicta.

I want to complement you on covering relevant watches. I quit following another channel because it kept pimping watches that were *never* available when reviewed and were from suppliers who *never* made any effort to maintain inventory. They are slightly above hobbiests, but not by much. Keep up the good work!
