No, they're not gonna use a tank against boots. They'd use their Infantry Fighting Vehicle, the modernized* bradley was indeed the right choice in this scene.
The RPG-2 was developed and in use in the late 1940's and the most recognisable version, the RPG-7, has been in use since 1961 to today, I don't know why you think it's strange that a version of the RPG would still be in use in 16 years time.

Why did they build their barricades in the open streets instead of camping with MG and sniper nests from the buildings with more cover and high ground?
