  • In 2022, Canada Day celebrations returned following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. At the same time, Parliament Hill began a 10 year renovation project that forced all Canada Day festivities to be moved over to Lebreton Flats, including the 10pm Fireworks.
July 1, 2022 was also the first time where O-Train LRT Line 1 "Confederation Line" operated for the first time for Canada Day since the opening on September 14, 2019 (excluding 2020 and 2021).
Unfortunately, due to safety issues identified by the Department of Canadian Heritage, people leaving Lebreton Flats are unable to use Pimisi Station to take LRT Line 1 to Tunney's Pasture in order to travel west (Nepean, Bayshore, Kanata, Stittsville, Barrhaven). Pimisi Station was restricted to passengers travelling in the eastbound direction.
As a result, OC Transpo was required to stage buses along Albert Street, and have them start-up a westbound bus routes on the spot (such as Routes 57, 61, 62, 63, 74, 75, and 85).
This video highlights how OC Transpo managed Canada Day bus operations at Pimisi Station since 2022.
All video clips shown here were taken on July 1, 2023 during Canada Day 2023.
