I wanted to ask "what game is this" then searched the internet. This is a Doom 2 mod. Fuck, this is insane. It doesn't look like Doom. The modding in 2024 is beyond expectations. You can transform a game into another game.
Looks amazing. I only ever played Duke Nukem 3D and have dabbled in Doom a little now and then, but always wanted more of these style of games. Knowing modders are keeping the genre alive is amazing
@@TheHulksMistress There are a few awesome games in that style. Ion Fury and Ion Fury: Aftershock are great! It's from 3D Realms. The gameplay is like a polished version of Duke 3D with a different main character, weapons and story. Humor is similar and Duke's voice actor plays the villain in it.
bro, Ashes 2063, and especially the Afterglow episode, DOES feel like a full-price game. It delivers much more than average modern game, while being free lol. And it has an awesome soundtrack, too. If you never played it, I highly recomend to do so

@@theoldspiceguy7977 Thanks for that info. I have an old copy of windows XP but it's 32 bit and I need at least 64 bit to run this. Win 11 is all they (microsoft) sells anymore it seems so I may just get that and hope this works with it.
I think it's unfortunate that the speed is somewhat of a necessity for the way Doom-based combat works. It's too fast for something story driven like this where you are not able to appreciate the surroundings as you zip by them at the speed of light. I still think it's a great project.
@@desktorp there's an addon that makes the movement less like you're a slippery bar of soap and more like a protagonist from a build engine game on the game's moddb profile
Yeah, I would definitely mod the movement speed if possible in the ini file or whatever. I too like to take my time and appreciate things. Plus not moving as fast makes it harder which is a good thing IMO.
@@theoldspiceguy7977 for sure, I don't think that Carmack and Romero could imagine that 30 years later the mods would have reached this level so many years after they open sourced it
