    I was "blind sided" by these in another video.
    The on-the-scene video makers think we know our way around "ice cube relays". Phew. Full stop. Glad I found this video to get caught up ice cube relays.

    Excellent explanation of the Ice cube relay.
    I’m having a problem with the one I have operating my humidifier. It has a 24v coil and switches a 24vDC solenoid. It worked for about 10 years and now nothing. I even picked up a new cube. It closes but doesn’t send power out of any of the contacts. Any idea where to start with this? It has been driving me crazy trying to figure it out.
    Thanks

    I saw a couple of these on a boiler. They may have been for remote alarms but i have no idea. Can you give a complex example of where they are actually used.

    • @AirConAcademy
      @AirConAcademy  Před 3 lety +1

      These relays are used in a lot of places in the HVAC industry. They are a lot of times used in controls like you said they could be used for an alarm system. They can be used on defrost controls for heat pumps. The coil voltage may vary, it could be 24 V or it could be 110 V you have to be careful with those coil voltages.

  • @Agarbe
    @Agarbe Před 3 lety +1

    Is there a way to seal in the coil?

    • @AirConAcademy
      @AirConAcademy  Před 3 lety

      I am not sure I understand what you mean by "seal in the coil" you cannot change the coil, it is inside the relay and it is sealed inside. Let me know if you still have a question.

    • @Agarbe
      @Agarbe Před 3 lety

      @@AirConAcademy I figured out what I was trying to ask. What I was trying to ask was if you were to set up a relay with a stop start circuit how would you seal the coil in to where you put power to the coil and make it hold.
