This man knows what he is talking about - If you are not happy with his delivery or his presentation, then you are looking for something to complain about instead of learning - his web videos are free and they have helped me greatly.

as a football coach i find nothing wrong with his instruction. if you are offended by something as simple as tone than you need to think real deep as to why. this man delivered simple instruction that will improve your shot and many of you watching get offended because he's slightly abrasive, and completely miss the point of the video.

Good information. It's hard to change if you've been doing something different for along time. Bottom line: figure out where you see the target and where your break point is and don't shoot behind the bird.

I agree 100%. I can also tell you are a coach. You don't know how to use proper punctuation when you compose a sentence.

I just realized i've been looking down the barrel on crossing targets, which has completely eliminated my ability for a proper lead. This video makes total sense. I was shooting left to right targets yesterday (i'm right handed) at a good distance out, and I couldn't miss if i tried; as i was doing so, i realized my barrel wasn't even in my peripheral view, i couldn't see it at all. at the time i just considered it weird. Now i understand. Thank you!

ive got to say, i, and most others in england shoot in a completely different way, we follow the clay with the barrels whilst bringing it up to shoulder, swing through the clay and pull the trigger as the barrels pass over the clay, or reach the correct distance for lead. how can you be watching the clay and doing something completely different with the gun...
    but each to their own

Great video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and insight. I've been shooting clays off-and-on for 40 years, and it never has occured to me that I am looking across the barrels on right-to-left. But I had noticed that there's something uncomfortable about it. Now I understand why that is.

Great vid! The only criticism I would have is that in the first animation it is telling you to shoot with maintained lead. This works but not consistently. Apart from that good job

love love love the animation!!!! I talk about a laser beam emanating from the shooters eye going through the rear sight and stopping on the front sight, ( I teach pistol licensing and combat pistol classes) and never look directly at the target, I tell my students that every single firearm (pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun) are shot completely differently, I wish I had this type of animation, who did you get to do that???

This was interesting but has spawned a question. I am a 4H instructor, all disciplines. My daughter has always done very well with precision type disciplines, not so much with shotgun. She has shown gradual improvement. Anyhow, she seems to be MORE consistent shooting the right to left yet she is right handed. Her eye dominance, not that is should matter, is right as well. So, this video makes complete sense in any other situation but not this one. So, do you have any insights, tips or ideas?

    Great tips!
How does this method differ from a 20 yard crosser vs a 50 yard crosser
The 50 yard crosser has less gun movement, no?

Some people choose to wear a fine italian suit when in public.
Others go for a blue sweatpant with elastic waistband.

What has screwed me up all this time is that stinking bead on the front of the barrel!. Just watched a few of Gil's videos and learned more in 10 minutes than I knew all my life. Going to go to the range with a whole new outlook on my shooting. Should do better that my 4/25 average lol.

That saying a shotgun should shoot where you are looking has always confused me. As you point out, the shotgun needs to shoot ahead of where you are looking.

Personally, I do not like the condescension in his words and voice, and do not prefer the maintained lead approach he advocates. None the less, he's clearly put a lot of effort into thinking about how to present his concept and a bunch of effort into creating his video. I'm not going to lead, I'm sure as heck won't follow, so the best thing I can do is get out of his way and wish him well
