They made like 7000 of them if I'm not mistaken, and they all sold. So, lack of sales absolutely was NOT the reason for them discontinuing this car, my peeps!
@Atombender Such a bad move! The flying spur is NOT EVEN CLOSE in quality of the Mulsanne and, in my opinion, is not qualified to replace the only car that threatened the Phantom!
My father you recently passed away at 99 was in the Royal Air Force retired in 1972 Group Captain. In WW11 flew Blenheims and Lancasters. They had Bentley engines he would tell us and always wanted the car. I promised him God willing I would have one someday in his 🎖 honour ! Very nice video. Thank-you
Great video guys, I understand why Bentley is doing away with the Mulsanne, but it still saddens me. That car is so classy and while not as advanced as the flying spur, it cant match this car in terms of specialness and quality. I would love to have one of these, it gives you exclusivity.
Like Michael Jordan, the Mulsanne will come out of retirement. I'll be one of the few to get one; one day. This car screams Mob Boss to me!! Always wanted a two tone Mulsanne with suicide doors. 😢
Me out here with 100 different reasons why I absolutely hate Bentley for having discontinued the Mulsanne eventhough I've never been into one nor can I afford the side mirror😐
Right..... I'm in Milwaukee. I see more flying spurs than anything. Can't recall ever seeing Mulsannes down here. Sad i like something i can't afford lol
I hope they bring the name back somewhere down the line (because it’s awesome). I agree with you: it’s got more old school presence than any other Bentley. Sad to see that great “6 3/4” V8 nomenclature disappear because that’s the most British way of naming an engine ever. 🤣
Great video!!! I'm guessing now this will be a collectors item since they won't be in production any more.....So classy and stylish i definitely want one
One of my favorite cars ever. I want the exact powder blue model you reviewed 3 years ago. That interior had half a forest in it the finest interior I've ever seen!
Oh Man this car was awesome, but the Flying Spur is taking its place, I am assuming, thanks Ben Wayne you and you're wife for doing the send off with this exquisite automobile.
In a way kinda sad, still reality hits home. An old adage, there's only one constant & that's change. Being in product development my only request to Bentley is stay away from the design concept benchmarking the competition to "me too" or/and "stretch" to "leap-frog". Knowing (like Sherlock Holmes) sniffing their current end products Bentley is keen enough to be ahead of the curve. Great video.
The Mulsanne was hot until the 2014 S Class came out. People who could afford the Mulsanne, chose the S Class instead. I also think when the 2014 Rolls Royce Wraith came out, it also took the shine, everyone wanted one.
Cheaper Porsche platform is Bentley's go to now. Should've hook up w Maserati back in 2003. Modern RWD vehicles between Audi/Maserati and then the rest of Premium VW groups would used that platform. Now we get a Panamera based Bentley Conti GT/Flying Spur.
10:16 Latest and greatest doesn't matter so much in cars like this. Especially gadgets are useless and the 2021 S-Class and Maybach are a good example that they went too far with tech with the big Tesla style screen.
These cars may be cheap to pick up pre-owned but one thing that should be considered is maintenance costs down the line especially if this vehicle is out of its warranty period. That is one variable that can drive people into serious financial trouble if they can't typically afford a vehicle like this but get lured in with an unbelievably low price tag. For those who can, you're better off picking a brand new Phantom, Mercedes Maybach S-Class or whatever other luxury vehicle takes your fancy. As for the Mulsanne, the Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase is the only one worth considering in the lineup IMHO; that car is truly a sight to behold. The Mulsanne (standard wheelbase) looks great but incomplete. Let's hope Bentley makes up for it by introducing a Flying Spur EWB in the next 2 years. If you're a Bentley fan and have the income level to justify the purchase of a luxury vehicle of this caliber, you may be better off opting for the newest Flying Spur.
There needs a petition to keep the 6.¾ L OHV V8. There is no Bentley flagship without that engine, and we all know it's gonna be a puny 4.0 V8 or a V6 hybrid replacing it, all for the same price 😔
One car that is often overlooked is the Rolls Royce Ghost. Its beautiful but not as flashy as the Phantom. I think the Ghost looks better than the Flying Spur.
I have loved Bentley for years for this car alone. I am not interested in or impressed with the upgraded VW’s that they pass off as Bentleys. To my mind, the Mulsanne alone, is a real Bentley. The Mulsanne alone is is worth buying. Most unfortunate and very sad news!
@@BenWayne85 Well when you say "I thought I'd never see that" regarding the Urus, that kinda implies that they haven't done it before. That was said in this video, not a separate one.
Marcusjj1973 Semantics. I have nothing to gain going back and forth on that. Debating with you on what you think I know or don’t know is pointless for us both. I'll leave it as is.
@@BenWayne85 I wasn't trying to debate you, I was just pointing out that you misspoke. The fact is that Lambo has done a suv before, so saying "I thought I'd never see the day" is just incorrect since they've done it before. That's all I'm saying here. It wasn't trying to say what you know and don't know. I took it as you just misspoke, not that you were clueless on the matter.
You DO NOT use the word "Economical " when referring to the great Mulsanne! C'mon sis! This is a HUGE mistake in my opinion! They should keep the car in the lineup as a "Made to order"model. 500 units at $395,000 is $197,500,000! Last time I checked was kinda, sort of a decent profit even with the labor cost. It's not like they're losing money by continuing to build this magnificent machine! You don't see Rolls Royce discontinuing the Phantom and the Mulsanne HANDS DOWN is a far better car than the Phantom! Big mistake, Bentley!
No doubt we'll all miss it, but lets be real, this car is just too overpriced given the kind of design and engine build. I myself would even go for the mercedes maybach which is far less expensive and more classy and comfy if we're talking about interior design
@@BenWayne85 How? I thought real wood is illegal now because of accident regulations. I still don't like it, it clashes hard especially the way the grain pattern is.
These cars were never intended for the masses.
Bentley didn't anticipate this car not selling well. Its still a thing of beauty. Wish I could afford one.
Bentley killed the Mulsanne off with its own Flying Spur.

The Mulsanne PISSES on the S-Class! Worth every penny! Big Ben, you can now buy one for wifey, since they are $150,00 and under! 😊

The Go Getter they don’t sell mulsannes with coach doors.
Great commentary from the both of you ! Love your videos !
Thanks so much!
Mulsanne is a jewel I will pick it over the Mercedes Benz s class anytime
No question!
why would you compare it to an S class, their price difference is so big
I know these are first world issues but I really wish they would still produce the Bentley Mulsanne; it really is a beautiful car.😢

Legendary LOOK 👀; a must have in my portfolio... Happy anniversary btw 👑
Props for describing the engine correctly. It’s a 6 and three quarters liter engine - not a 6.75 liter.
Hopefully Bentley will keep the Mullsanne available for those willing to pay for the handwork.
That's not how car manufacturers work.

I have to disagree, not to mention the fact rolls Royce cut a ton of corners on the ghost that I hope they correct on the next gen.
