Love and respect to my fellow peregrinos y peregrinas who we met on the Primitivo. From Portugal, USA, Cuba, Czechia, Spain, France, Scotland, Poland, Germany, Wales, Italy, Australia, The Netherlands, Finland.
We also feel a lot of gratitude towards the Spanish people who made us so welcome in their country.
My intention with this video is to show an authentic picture of how it is to walk this way.
The Primitivo has a mystical quality. The light is constantly changing as you climb mountains, or pass through tree lined holloways. The landscape was so full of wildflowers and wildlife. We saw a fire salamander one morning leaving Lugo. These are very symbolic creatures.
I didn’t film a small stage of this route, Castroverde to Lugo. I decided to take a rest from filming. Making this video took up a lot of my mental space and physical time when walking this route. Like many, I enjoy walking on the Camino as a way of simplifying my life and responsibilities. This was why I was frustrated with the video which was becoming quite cumbersome to me.
The day of the 30th we left the Primitivo and took an alternative path, the Camino Verde. We were ultimately intending to join the Camino Norte, in order to avoid the busy stretch of the Camino Frances. I also had made the decision to stop filming.
Anyway, when we arrived in Friol - I realised, after being convinced by Phoebe and our new friend Ivan, it was a pity to abandon this video. We returned back to Lugo by taxi and spent a night in a private albergue. We then carried on with the original Primitivo route and the original plan to make this video. I really have to thank Phoebe for putting up with me.

Very good video, showing the beauty and tranquility of the Primitivo very well. And .... without mindless commentary from wise nosed Americans. Top marks for doing the Hospitales route. That's the toughest stage of all camino's.

Must have just missed you on the primativo. Left Oviedo on the 20th of May. I remember all the mud and rain on the first 3 days. That dog was friendly. There were lots of ppl from all over. AU
ussie here, NZds and even a guy from Norway taking a 20kg pack.

Ah yes we must have just been a day or two behind you. By the sounds of things we were lucky because we hit the road just as the rain stopped.
      Thanks for your comment.
