Locs are so powerful, it does something to some people when you disconnect from them. The feeling for some will have a sad but positive outcome. People says It’s just hair, and it’ll grow back, but the time that’s invested, the moments that have been shared with Locs and how they make you feel hits different when it’s time to let them go. I would never reattach them it just wouldn’t feel the same. Embrace the moments and memories because you can’t get that time back that you put into growing them. If you want to keep them, keep them.

I cut my mans locks off after 10 years. He started to cry. Didn’t think I would have to encourage him more than ever at that time. It was for a better life for us (his job). Good for you whatever the reason. 💕💕

I have have had mine for about 11 years and I have thought about cutting them. The thought of waking up without them is something I can't stomach. So, here I am.
I just did the same after 12 years …. I wanted smaller locs and better parts !! Kudos to your bravery !!! I started over and loving the journey 🎉

I cut mine after 7 yrs. I got tired of fighting the gray hair. It was emotional for me as well. But will be restarting my loc soon. I missed them too much. They were a part of me.
@seresar1574 what do mean fighting the gray hair? I’ve been coloring my hair since my late twenties because of grey hair. I have to color my new growth frequently as my hair grows fast! Been locked for 2 years now… seems like the grey hair is gonna be a struggle!

Keep them cut off your not spiritually connected so you really didn't even know the purpose of them you had no real connection so you'll cut them again wasting your own time
Stop growing them just to cut them two years later

I have gray I am sick of dyes henna to much for me to do I just letting it do what it do Concentrating and keep it strong and healthy know the gray always win
Today I feel like cutting my locs after 20 years. The thought of not having them is scary but I also feel like I need a change.
I grew dreads from 05 to 2015 and I felt like a brand new man when I cut them off and I have no regrets
I cut mines just few mins ago😢,this wasn't easy😭😭 had been growing them 24yrs.
I want a different look, I will wear it natural the same as it was before in locs.❤

I just cut mines in Feb '23 after having since Dec '15 🥺 After burning them, reality hit and I was sad for a minute. I would cry randomly. Thank you for this. I have moments now. One of the reasons I came across this video, just sitting here reminiscing looking at other ppls locs. I needed this uneasy change and starting over is not as bad as it seems right now. Been growing for 13 yrs and the energy throughout the years feels heavy. I am ever evolving spiritually and want this Spring New Year to symbolize detachment and letting go. Im excited for my growth and the growth of all beautiful black women loc’d or not

I can only imagine your pain. But for those who may be contemplating cutting your locs for whatever reason, make a spiritual wash for the locs you cut off. Clean those locs to wash away every bit of negativity that those locs collected over time. Rinse the locs thoroughly, dry them thoroughly, now store them away safely, then when you're ready to give yourself more length, have someone to reconnect your own locs back where they belong. Hopefully, the unhappiness that caused you to cut them would have been thrown away with the spiritual wash water you used earlier. Good spiritual awakening to you all.

I didn't have locs, but I cut my hair almost bald. I love it. Im trying to grow it out now for locs. Im not sure I can do it. I feel so free the way that I am. 😌
It was my goal when I started them, to have them for 10 years and decide what to do when the 10 year mark came. I cut mine but felt like a new person after. No tears... comfort.
Please just remember for anyone considering a different look also is that another option for you to keep in mind without having to cut off all your hair is to have them taken out & to do that they don't necessarily have to cut them out this is just a tip for those that might wanna rock an afro or another natural style as for me combining my hair was just to painful & I love my loc's because I haven't really had to use a comb in year's unless I'm doing my baby hair anyway life's a journey so I'm happy that you got the chance to experience just how looooong your natural hair could get thanks for sharing your experience with us & your loc's were just so beautiful because they just fit you but your still rocking a pretty new look regardless so you go girl
