We are now faced with £2K on the solicitor fee when the bank declined our mortgage application because the wall on the garden will cost a lot to repair. I am totally gutted as i would expect (the solicitor was recommend by the.mortgage adviser) will communicate with the mortgage adviser with the progress of the lending process rather than she keep going to nearly completion of her job. We are first time buyer and no clue what exactly need to do. If at least the solicitor give an advice of the consequences of being declined then i may have instructed her to work with the progress of the solicitor rather just encourage me to.pay up the deposit only. Thank you
Hi Alex - thanks for the video. However one thing to note, shall we not get a solicitor from the very beginning of the property search? (well before having decided on mortgage lender). Looking for a solicitor only once having found a property can be a little late no?
Hi Alex I’ve got a question. I started a new job and occupation about 4 months ago and applied to a mortgage. I got the principle mortgage but 2 banks rejected me at the underwriter stage. They won’t tell me the reason for the rejection. I believe it is due to the new occupation. Are there any lenders that would look past my new occupation or perhaps you could advise me. I would definitely get a solicitor quote from the beginning, but you don’t have to instruct them until you find a property and have an offer accepted!
