Dave was 71 years young when he passed away. He was one of the very best keyboard and synth musician of our time. Beautiful tribute song for Dave. He will be forever missed but never forgotten. Rest In Peace.
Dave Greenfield was the sound of the Stranglers. They cannot continue without him. Rest in peace Dave. I am proud to have experiences your talents.
I'm not sure who the three people who 'disliked' this are, but I'm intregued as to their reasoning. A tribute is a tribute, and as such, is kinda beyond reproach, especially when it's a tribute written by his closest colleagues. If it's not a track that you feel conveys your emotions, write one that does, but it seems in poor taste to propose that your negative opinion is in some way important enough to publically announce it on what is, essentially, a eulogy for those who cared by those who cared the most. I await their justification. My opinion on the song? I'm lucky enough not have had to create such a piece, and I can only thank The Stranglers for providing all their fans with something that we can listen to and spend a few minutes remembering their actual friend. To Dave Greenfield x
Forget those fools... they get but one vote, and they pissed it into the winds of oblivion... this will go down as an all-time gem...
You’re exactly right my friend, Dave added that something that was lacking from they’re contemporaries. He meshed perfectly and gave colour (usually dark) aurally to JJ , Hugh and Jet.
They must be aged glam rockers , who are still wearing their platforms and flairs , bitter, that their music was finally exposed as the shit it was .... 😂😂
My guess is it's from people who thought they had "a better idea" for a memorial song for Dave.
Brother, watch out for the Skin Deep ;-)
Great tribute to Dave Greenfield❤RIP❤THE STRANGLERS FOREVER
The Stranglers have been apart of my life since 1978 and reading all these comments are, well I have no words
Miss you Dave
A beutiful tribute to a master keyboard player who'll be sadly missed. R.I.P. Dave.
Makes me cry everytime of listening. 4 years gone today. 😢
The best lament, for a gifted performer. We miss you too Dave, you were awesome.
Those lyrics are spot on.
The most fitting tribute to your brother in black.
"This is where your solo would go" 🎼🎶😢
We'll all miss Dave so much x
Fabulous. Took my daughter to see these guys when she was just 13. What GREAT taste she has in her music choices.
God bless Dave. I’ve loved your music since I was 17. ( 1977).
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful and heartfelt tribute to the most talented Keyboard player of all time .Fantastic Musician and topper of a bloke. His passing is an inconsolable tragedy.Stunning Composition that will moisten every cheek in creation.
Brilliant. Heartbreaking. If this is played on the tour, there won't be a dry eye in the house
I hope they play it live! I have goosebumps now thinking of hearing it live!
Jeez, I know. If the keyboard set up is similar to Dave's and they open with this, that's going to be hard.
Awesome track fitting tribute to Dave
A pretty song for the secret and the most adorable of the band. His sound gave to "this testostetone's band", the delicate touch who made this band " The greatest band pn the world". I learned the reason of his depart on wikipedia cause it was private life and his intimicy. And i was figthing myself against this f.....g' s virus soon after. I t was rought . I undersand why people die. But for Dave, it is unfair. When i see him on 2018 in a festival on Savoy near " Aix les Bains" , he was so happy. And he was also the same smile he dis in " Las Vegas" on 2019. So yes, it is unfair. I liked him so much. ❤❤❤
@@Ponkinette. On a perdu un Grand musicien.
An excellent peice of work in memory of keyboardist Dave Greenfield - one of the best musicians to come out of Britian and member to The Stranglers. Lovely song!! GOD BLESS...Acts 24: 15
I just lost a dear friend of mine recently.
He showed me the stranglers growing up and this song has helped me start to heal from the loss immensely.
If Dave happens to see my Dad, who also just died of COVID, perhaps he might mention that I miss him.
R.I.P Dave.
R.I.P Dad.
Sorry for your loss.
they be at the bar together be strong and you be ok
Your Dad already knows that. xxx
R.I.P. to your dad
I lost my Dad 36 years ago, it still hurts, you just learn to live with it. RIP all who we lost through covid.
"This is where your solo would go"
FFS. Something in my eye.
Miss yer, Dave. Thanks for the great conversations and the music...
Couldn’t have been a more fitting tribute to the great man .I am in tears again
listening to this ,god bless you Dave .x
Wow 😞 , this just tears me up. What a nice fitting tribute by his bandmates. But you know,we are all another day closer to seeing all of our old friends again.🙋👼
Rest in peace, Dave Greenfield. A man who touched so many lives positively. We hope to see him again on the other side of the veil.
Dave , a true Gentleman - always in our thoughts , goodnight my dear friend x
...how emotional...a part of my youth passed away.."Thank You For The Music" ;-)
I'm 16 and I discovered The Stranglers about 2 months ago. Rest in peace Dave Greenfield and thank you for all the great music. This is a great tribute.
I also discovered The Stranglers when I was your age. I am now 61 and I still consider their music as very relevant and inspiring. I invite you to check out their albums Rattus Norvegicus, Black and White and The Raven.
@@mariomicallef7142 Great that some of our younger generation are discovering the boys..
I found out about the Stranglers way too late too. I remember being immediately blown away by Dave's playing. It was an intense feeling, the first time I threw on Rattus and Raven and... pretty much all their stuff
I was 16 when I first heard The Stranglers. That was 1978. You have a lifetime of listening to them!!!!!!!
Welcome to the family, enjoy this & the fantastic back catalogue
Dave's spirit will never go, his presence is always with us....maybe he is playing a solo with some of the other musical greats who are up there as well.......Dave I raise a glass to you sir.
RIP. He inspired me to play keys forty years ago. He had such a telling impact on me. Touching tribute with beautiful harmonies.
Kickass band; so underrated...
Miss you, Dave!
Beautiful, meaningful, poignant tribute to the wizard on the keyboards 🎹, a band that has delighted me for 45 + years RIP Dave ❤🐀
Dark magic
best band I've heard last 50 years
Dave alive
Absolutely brilliant, been a fan since 1983, saw them at The Barrowlands and couldn't believe I was watching my hero JJ,, Play On Dave xx
A beautiful. melodic fitting tribute to Dave. There is something in my eye......
An absolutely beautiful and fitting tribute for Dave...and how the hell did JJ sing that without filling up, that song must have the hardest track to record... beautiful words and viewing the situation very well performed...Hats of to you boys and long live DG.
Will never forget the amazing Harpsichord piece in Golden Brown ... brilliant work.
Brilliant. What a talent DG was. RIP.
FANTASTIC TRIBUTE TO THE GREATEST KEYBOARD PLAYER THAT HAS EVER BEEN 👈😎👉
Lovely song for Dave. A gentleman...
Another grown man with a tear in his eye. This song is a perfect tribute. Thanks JJ, Baz and Jim.
What a beautiful song.
Been a fan since May 1977 (Peaches) seen them dozens of times, This is as good as anything they have ever produced. Absolutely brilliant. Terrific tribute. Well done Stranglers - still class!
I think all Stranglers fans from the golden days onward were truly inspired by Dave’s playing. It was his baroque arpeggiations, waltzes and so forth, and his sense of humor on the keys that gave the Stranglers a unique Gothic sound and must have inspired countless bands and fans in the process. You can see it to the end of his days with the band. He always has a knowing smirk, like he’s sharing a private joke with the band. But his playing-superb! Magnificent! Can’t believe he kept it up all those decades. RIP.
Love this song, sounds like a classic.I met Dave in 1984,what a lovely man
This is an apt and fitting tribute to a lovely man who brought joy and happiness to the world in the form of great music! R.I.P Dave x
I was lucky enough to see them in the Dec before his passing in Amsterdam. Sadly missed ❤
Stunning tribute. Out of all the songs JJ has ever sat down to pen, this has to have been the most challenging... When you're memorialising a lifelong mate, you'll pull out all the stops to ensure you do him proud... and he's done just that. Love Love Love.
a fitting and beautiful tribute for our fallen maninblack, well composed and well written 🕊️
Brilliant.sad.R.I.P Dave
RIP DAVE.... See you at the bar
A very fitting tribute to Dave . Thank you Dave for all your amazing sounds , saw you live many times . RIP Dave
So beautiful.... so heartfelt.
You made a grown man cry X
Me too. Every time I listen to it.
This song conveys enough soul to be heard everywhere here and beyond.
Another great track by the stranglers a beautiful tribute to Dave Greenfield r.i.p
Great song for Dave. Can't wait for the new album.Thank you J.J, Baz & Jim (without forget Jet).
I was very saddened to hear of the loss of the incredibly smart and talented Dave Greenfield.
An excellent and moving tribute.
my eyes have tears thanks for decades of great music so sad
Even if you don't much like this song how on earth could you click the thumb down ? Lovely tribute.
How can you not see the contradiction in your statement? People should not be urged/compelled to LIKE a thing just because...
A great tribute to the greatest keyboard player I've ever seen, performed by the greatest band I've ever see.
“This is where your solo would go” - brilliant. Great song in its own right. Touching tribute.
It has grown on me , also like the Acoustic version too . Fitting , no keyboards on it . I get a genuine sorrow for losing their friend of 45 years . I like it
Dave Greenfield's keyboard, defined The Stranglers more than anything else.
Great tribute to a great loss to us all
This is what you'd expect from The Stranglers, it's just beautiful. There's even shades of the Beatles in this! First saw them in 1978 at Stafford Bingley Hall, never to look back. Their music evolves continually and I'm amazed they can just keeping creating magical stuff. RIP Dave, if you want to hear him at his best, just listen to Walk on By, truly incredible.
Wow Bingley Hall. Some classics have played there over the years. 😊
😥 and the tears start....
again…
Beautiful, heartfelt and poignant tribute 💖 Thank you JJ, Baz and Jim xxx
It's a beautiful tribute. Well done, Stranglers. You have been our lives.
Great.....what a song !!
you've been a fundamental part of the soundtrack of my life, this one is really heartfelt.
#DAVEGREENFIELD maestro
Brilliant RIP DG. Will never be forgotten. I remember the excitement first hearing them in the late seventies, so different to everyone else .
A warm and heartfelt tribute by the band. His passing was tragic, very sad.
Beautiful I couldn’t think of a more perfect sound for the song. The loneliness they must all feel reflected in the sparse sound and the “this is where your solo would go” lyric. A song like Dave himself brilliant and understated
I confess, the one and only time I saw him with his Men in Black on stage, was on 6th December 2019, FABRIK Hamburg. On my opinion, with his keyboards, he was the heart and soul of the band.
Da war ich auch!!!
To me the Stranglers were like what the Beatles or Stones were to my older sisters. Every new release was anticipated with baited breath because they were always evolving and each member was like a star in his own right. They eventually lost me with ‘10’ and I don’t think I was alone on that score. Hell I even loved ‘Feline’. Anyway losing Dave hit hard. Have no fear JJ. If I see Dave not only will I say hello but I’ll talk his ear off about how much the Stranglers meant to me until JJ, Jet and Hugh arrive and go on to conquer heaven or hell or wherever it is we’re bound. A great tribute from the band to Dave. He’d be both honored and maybe embarrassed. A very modest man David Greenfield. Bloody Covid.
It also does my heart good to see how many of my fellow Strangled feel the same. I’ve never seen a better comments thread on CZcams.
Some bands haven't done a tribute to fallen members. The Stranglers have and it's a fitting tribute, heartfelt, very much missed on those keys, never be the same again...
What a fantastic tribute to the great man and the photo is amazing with only Dave in black visible. Well done JJ ,Baz and Co. RIP #1 Keyboard player 😪
For a band that defied the punk label, they have wrote another song that brings tears to my eyes....There's Always The Sun/Son
Absolutely stunning and perfect. A beautiful tribute to DPG.
Fly straight DaveInBlack 🖤
Fly straight with perfection, Dave Greenfield x
Great song and tribute by The Stranglers, for the one and only Dave Greenfield, miss him so much, can't wait to get the album.
Reading all the comments, I can't better them. So I'll just say, beautiful song and when I see Dave I'll say hello.
A simple message to the 11 who gave this the thumbs down, shame on you show some respect for the greatest keyboard player that ever lived and for a band that have created some of the most beautifully crafted songs for over 40 years a band that took what was deemed to be punk rock into another dimension.
Tragic what happened. This song is very fitting. I love it. One day I will see Dave! And I'll definitely say hello!
Beautiful and dark, a very fitting tribute. Rest In peace Dave.
Perfect
Awesome song for an awesome musician and maninblack RIP keyboard perfect Dave G
Love it. Can't wait to see them in Norwich. RIP Dave.
Beautiful, this is just beautiful ! RIP Dear Dave.
Speechless and heartbroken. 😐😎🐀
Fine ‘Dreamtime’ Guitar Baz , lovely ‘80s Feel’ JJ Vocal , and I love the Classic Stranglers Backing Vocal style throughout 🖤
And it would be nice to say Hello , this is where your solo would go
Heroes never die
We all really needed this. Thank you.
Brilliant tribute to Dave .. hope he is happy in the great beyond x
Bloody hell, this is a great track!
Beautiful.
Perfect tribute song meninblack Rip Dave
Love this so much. What a beautiful tribute to their friend. ❤️
Just great rip...
Fantastic song gone but never forgotten
Wow! Teary-eyed in Toronto ... Stranglers fan for life
Tears....tears. R.I.P. Dave. The family in black would always remind you.
Heartfelt and haunting ...
