My grandparents used to live in Mana plantation camp so I spent many of my childhood summer days at Polihale..most beautiful beach in all the islands

All we’re asking for is respect. We don’t go to your family grave and use the bathroom. Please don’t do that to ours.
It’s also not a dump, so please leave the place nicer than you found it next time you’re there.🤙🏽

I can get behind that, however, we need someone enforcing that, and DLNR don’t even close the gate like they’re SUPPOSED to. DLNR doesn’t wanna do what it takes to save this park and cemetery.

I"ve found that visitors take care of the land on their brief stays , while some locals think nothing of trashing the place.

Not quite the problem, problem is really everyone. No one is excused for the beach getting this bad. Seeing someone leave their trash but not saying anything is just as bad as leaving the trash. I’ve personally found napkins and TP right next to graves. EVERYONE has no respect, it’s all gone.
Also Some visitors stay, make voodoo shrines, and try using the power of polihale for evil stuff. We’ve broken down a few already.

It’s a bit of both, for sure! Locals tear it up, dump their old vehicles, refrigerators, mattresses, etc, by the side of the road and remote beaches, or in cane fields. Tourists leave trash at the beach, drive over things they shouldn’t, trespass, and generate rubbish for the land fill because they load up at Costco with cases of water bottles, etc. It’s so harsh on the Islands’ ecology.
Covid gives us a chance to reduce tourism permanently and creat home grown industries that benefit the people that live here and protect the environment. The run off from all the resorts, condos and golf courses is poisoning the reefs and our water/food supplies!
Importing 85% of our food is ridiculous when we have good soil, sun and rain and the farming knowledge to grow almost anything. The cane fields have been fallow for 25 years, so the soil is basically organic now.
Did you know Hawaii only has about a two week food supply should the ships get interrupted? We can be self sustaining and not be whores to tourism which perpetuates underpaid jobs in the most expensive place to live as well as just trashing the Islands. Let’s create a new Hawaii! Limit how many people can visit, like Bhutan. Get the land back in the hands of the residents, not big corporations and foreign investors, land developers and hotel chains.
      Mahalo nui loa.🤙🏼🙏

Polihale is where spirits exit this world. It is indeed sacred.

Respect the land, respect the earth or we will all die. I agree. The Hawaiians know. God bless Amen.

Braddahz stay off the sand, no build off road trucks for the sand. Build umm for the real off roads. Nomore roots, rocks, or mud. Does going in sand considered off road? Most ppl only fly umm through the sand anyways. The whole point of off roading is seeing if you can keep traction on an off road. Not fly umm through sand. Not blaming anyone, the state gotta start taking into consideration for the love of our hobbies out here on a lil island. We only get so much for play with, Campbell’s down. Ppl no like only like go drive one go cart, or plat rc cars. We like feel the rush but, in a safe way. Help the ppl find a safe place to play, I promise they will listen and cage up, 4 point harness and a fucking helmet.

Riding sand is riding sand. People don’t BUILD their trucks for sand😂 you simply turn on 4 wheel and you’re on your way. If you like go mud off road get plenty mountain. Is that not big enough for your hobbie?
