    A little tip - reinsert the short end of the cut pushrod back into the lifter cover so you can see the lifters moving to find the base circle for the second cylinders pushrods to cut. That way you don't have to stick your fingers in the lifter block holes.

    Good Video. Thanks for sharing. I’ve done probably 10 twin cams and will be doing my first M8 cam swap this weekend. So when you don’t remove the lifter box it’s really not a big deal because the lifter will only go in as long it’s aligned with that bar. I can’t remember the name of thabut glad to learn that.

    • @HarleyDavidsonWizard
      @HarleyDavidsonWizard  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes. I use screaming eagle assembly lube and lube the lifter bore from the cam chest, that way the lifter doesn't want to slide back down before you stick th he cam in. Yes, when you slide the lifter in from below you rotate it until it slides into the anti-rotation plastic thingy. It slides in super easy. If you do it from above like a normal, the Milwaukee 8 has a bolt that retains the plastic lifter anti-rotation thingy and that bolt alot of the time is tight as frig! I've even had it break off before. That's when I realized I could go in from below and avoided all the hassle.

    • @HarleyDavidsonWizard
      @HarleyDavidsonWizard  Před 4 lety +2

      I haven't seen any loose or damaged anti-rotation cuffs on Milwaukee 8s. They seem to be holding up really well. In my experience the seem to grip the lifter tighter than the anti-rotation pin setup on twin cams.

    • @HarleyDavidsonWizard

      Answering the questions is the easy part. The way CZcams organizes the comments is sometimes confusing and I see a question one minute and then I'll come back to answer it and it's gone and I cant find it. Brad, I really appreciate your professional, low key approach to producing videos. They're easy to watch multiple times and I pick up more information with each viewing.
    I'm at the age where the warranty may expire on myself before it runs out on my new 2020 FXLR so I'm ready ready to install a Supertrapp 2-into-1 exhaust system and HD stage 1 air cleaner. I'm thinking a 465 cam kit would really complete the bike. Leaning towards sticking with the stock 2020 cam plate and oil pump. If I don't buy a tool to measure pinion shaft runout while changing the cam, do you think that's a mistake?
    Also, with the new parts on, how many gentle miles can I safely ride to reach a dyno tuner? My local independent dyno shop uses TechnoResearch and I don't hear much about them. Do you have any opinion?

    • @HarleyDavidsonWizard
      @HarleyDavidsonWizard  Před 4 lety +3

      I wouldnt worry about buying the cam plate tool. Whatever runout your crankshaft has is what it is. Runout is super important in a twin cam oil pump but not as big if a deal in M8s. I haven't seen a milwaukee 8 with a unacceptable runout yet. I double check each one because that's what people expect. I haven't used the 465 cam but the bikes usally run pretty terrible without at least a base map. I haven't personally used the techno research tool to tune. But tuners are usally best using what they like. All the tuner products work bacically the same way, it's the people using them that makes the bike run well. But ya! I'd cam it!

    • @HarleyDavidsonWizard
      @HarleyDavidsonWizard  Před 3 lety +1

      The front wheel is strapped into the wheel chuck and that holds the bike in well. There's a lot of slop the motorcycle hoist itself so that leads to most of the motorcycle movement. When doing heavy work or when leaving the bike on a hoist overnight, we put a flat jack under it. or if the bike is on a pole hoist then the frame is strapped to the hoist. Early on in my career I had a bike with freshly armored all tires fall off my hoist where the tire wasn't strapped in. It was such a nightmare! you never forget when something like that happens.

    Awesome channel man...im a new sub
    Can I ask a question please. My mechanic installed a cam set, andrews 57 with hydraulic lifters and adj pushrods. With my dresser dual exhaust it run strong and sounded awesome. Also the red is a s&s stealth air filter and a dynojet pc5. The bike is an 03 cvo road king...so he recently put a bassani rr3 on it and it now has a sort of clacking sound in b the top end of the motor. This was not there before. I thought the pushrods needed tightened and re adj ft on being new. He said the sound is normal its just echoing thru the air filter..????. Now I'm no mechanic but I can turn a wrench, change my own fluids and oils ect...but this just doesn't sound right to me....whats your thought?...hope I was descriptive enough...I've never had a bike with this kind of engine work so I really don't k now but it doesn't sound correct at all...saying that the bike pulls like a steam loco on full tilt man....also it only makes the sound when the bike is at temp and at idle....on the gas it disappears......any advice is greatly appreciated man..thanks

      valve train noise is typically around 2000 rpm.With your noise at hot idle. Id check the stabilizer links horn brackets and under tank stabilizer link, engine mounts and all clearances around the engine/trans/primary. valve trains typically become noisy at 2000 or 2500 rpm. But if your noise is at hot idle thats also when the engine is moving around the most in the frame. Maybe something to look into.

    Why not do all Fueling oil pump, camchest, pushrods, lifters, and cam that’s a win all around in my BS opinion

      I agree with that thinking. But I installed the parts the customer wanted to buy. The deals are worked out before I get the parts. 👍

    Mr. RUB wants more power on a bike he doesn't ride? Eh, it'll be a good deal for somebody when Mr. RUB trades it in on a "new" bike.

    Yeah Harley and lifters still suck. But you need them for the warranty.

    2:21:33 sound
    You do 2.5 hours of work wrenching and only give 1 min of sound...of a cold bike in a garage. Smh

    Best upgrades to a Harley is to get rid of allll of the genuine harley parts. Running a stage 4 117 and it’s complete trash.

    I'm sure FEULING would appreciate it if folks would spell the name of their company correctly, you're certainly not the first to make that mistake though

      Thanks for catching that. I double checked before uploading it, apparently my eyes were closed then. Lol.
