  • We all know that sugar is not good for Health, so let’s understand what are the options available in place of sugar.
    Sugar is made out of sugarcane and the chemicals used for making Sugar are sulphur dioxide, phosphoric acid, calcium hydroxide and activated carbon which are harmful in nature.
    Sugar is high in glycemic index and foods which are high in glycemic index can lead to increase in blood sugar levels and excess and frequent consumption can lead to Diabetes in longer run.
    Glycemic Index of Sugar is 100 which is extremely high.
    Now let’s understand what are the options available?
    The first option is Organic Jaggery which is again made from sugarcane and it has minerals like calcium, phosphorous, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, copper and Vitamin B Complex as well.
    Organic Jaggery is definitely better than Sugar as its glycemic index is 84 which is less as compared to Sugar which has 100.
    The second option is Palm Jaggery which is made from Palm Tree which is a much option better than Oragnic Jaggery as glycemic index of Plam Jaggery is 34 which is better than both Organic Jaggery and Sugar.
    Now let’s move to the 3rd option which is Stevia which is a plant which tastes sweet. The glycemic index of stevia is 0 which is much better than Sugar, Organic Jaggery and Palm Jaggery.
    The only problem with Stevia is that it doesn’t taste much like Sugar or Jaggery, so a better option could be Palm Jaggery.
