What do you do if it is shaped well, and you've steamed it. But it has dried out and shrunk? I steamed mine well, then got it to shape up. But very rapidly it went right back to shrinking the same day.
Once a month. I lived in Manta, 15-20 minutes of Montecristi where the original "panama" hats are made. They said a good steam and even a spray bottle once a month. Or more if very dry conditions. Manta is very humid 6 months of the year and more dry the other 6 months.
How can I get a mice bent in the front of the hat? My brother bought me a hat but he put it inside of a backpack 🙄 and got creased right in the front and I just can't get the hat to bend into a nice look. Please help! Lol
Tough one. Steam the hat best you can. Leave it on a weighted book or item to hold brim down. Leave for a few day. Then check. If still no good, then consider hold and spray hair spray . If not, then , time for a new hat....
Eddy Green and if it wasn’t for Panama, this comment probably wouldn’t exist on CZcams as it does today. So I guess All and all, it all turned out fair and free.
The Ecuadorians don't mind. They're just glad you love their hats. I lived there for over 5 years 15-20 minutes of where they make the original Montecristi hats.
My dyslexia read the title as "Caring for your Pajama Hats"
Hi, I love the hat in this clip. How can I get one exactly like it?
If you don't have a steamer, kettle or Iron just move to Florida and shut off the air conditioner.
I read your comment, looked at your Avatar - Thank you Sir!
Ecuador hats

Own an optimo Panama it's lasted years without doing any of this or rolling it up it's something I NEVER do.

Yeah, and the cleaning part?
WOW interesting... Great advice!

Any advice for hats where the straw has started to crack and break, but not fully to make a hole? Can they be repaired/saved?
A genuine Panama hat can be repaired. A lot of sellers offer that service.
How often do you moisten your hat? Three or four time a year? Thanks
Depends on how dry the climate is, if its looking a little dry and feeling dry then best to give it a spray.
As much as you like. If you live in a dry area, then every few months. If in a moist climate, then only one time a year. Thanks !

Can you use steam to correct the shape of one of these hats ?
Look at gentelmans gazette they have an video about it😁
Yes!
How do you clean the sweat stains off them?
It is best to spot clean your panama hats with a clean damp cloth!
@@Hatsbythe100Au Thank you. I’ll try that.

@Hats By The Hundred 👋 we live in Florida. Do you still in the Panama hats?
@@carloscoward2674 Yes, I like the Derby hat.
Same history than Mercedes Benz cars
These hats are badly called, panama hats, since these are made in Ecuador and are called straw hats toquilla, they are 100% Ecuadorean.

Panama hat its a more elegant name for this hat than Paja Toquilla, sorry
No one would recognize what you are referring too if you say that when you speak in English.
