105 years later and you have a handgun you can still carry and trust your life with it. I’m an old revolver guy but I also have an obsession with the 1911 A1 Government Model 45. I like them in their original form, I don’t like all the modern upgrades. I have an exact copy of the 1911A1 my grandfather used against the Japanese in 1945 on the battle of Okinawa. That’s my EDC. I also have an old picture from 1918 of my Great Grandfather proudly holding up his original model of 1911.
I know there are a hundred 'better' guns out there nowadays but I still love how those look. No frills, just metal and 7 rounds of 'Sit the fuck down, Nazi'
In this particular instance I have determined it is definitely a magazine issue, it cycles properly on any magazine but this one. Thanks for the tip though!
I haven’t experienced hammer bite yet, it’s much more of a concern if you hold too loose or too high (high and tight is of course what you want, but too high and it will get you) I have not personally shot an A1 as I don’t own one, in my opinion the original M1911 is a much prettier gun but the alterations to the design were largely actual improvements. From my understanding, hammer bite is less likely with the 1911A1 as the beaver tail was extended
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Thank you I've never fired a 1911 type pistol. I actually like revolvers more because I can shoot them better. I've had problems with my dads S&W 5906 pistol with jamming.
It’s actually a weird trick I didn’t know about until recently, if you pull the hammer all the way back then pull the trigger while holding the hammer in that way it engages the safety on it’s own, allowing you to guide the hammer forward 👍🏻
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry that’s what I thought you might’ve done hahaha cool trick! Now I can drop the hammer on my 1943 USGI Colt 1911a1 one handed. Just did it too! 😂
@qtheqman3341 it’s so easy it’s almost upsetting when you figure it out right?! I was legitimately mad at myself for not figuring it out on my own lol. Jealous of the A1 btw, need to get me one of those
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry yeah this whole time here we are thinking it can’t be done and long and behold 😂 you definitely do man, it’s my favorite 1911 out of all of the ones I own. Such a badass piece of history! Smooth shooter for sure too!
A colt that looks worn is just gorgeous.

The Man Stopper, Old Slabsides, The Army Automatic, Old Bigmouth, Old Ugly you name it for the Greatest Semi-Automatic Pistol in US History
It is the most combat proven semi automatic handgun in existence
they called the 1911 "old ugly" at one point? never seen a gun more beautiful than it, so idk what sense that nickname makes
@@braevinmaund1210 me neither lol 😂
Maybe Glock fans called the 1911 " old ugly".@@braevinmaund1210
Great gun. Another historic one.
Great you can't go wrong with a 1911.
The superior 1911 look
Nice shootin TomTom!🇺🇸
Thank you sir!

Agreed
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Beautiful pistol when, y'know, it doesn't have tacky Flags and Eagles and crap all over it
Right the Nazis of ww1 in their UFOs.
Try a heavy recoil spring - that has fixed the problem for me twice- Springfield Garrison

nice 👍👍👍👍
My favorite pistol
You sound like that guy from band of brothers, i forget what his name was but he also sounds a bit congested.
Nice 1911!
Thanks!
Nice 1911
Thank you sir
Beautifil worn out 1911
my husband loves the 1911 and browning pistol
Both are excellent pistols, especially for the time they were created
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry yes my husband owns both and i found them fun to shoot maybe it’s me but i enjoyed the Browning more than the 1911.
@mayumimiyamoto9377 many people do, hopefully someday I’m able to add one to my collection
Do you get some hammer bite when shooting that? Is the 1911A1 better?

Where can I buy one
Just have to look, one may show up at a local gun store or on gun broker sooner or later
How did you drop the hammer without engaging the grip safety?
