SWISSVIEW, TI - Gandria

Gandria (340 m ü. M.) ist ein pittoreskes Dorf am Nordufer des Lago di Lugano im Kanton Tessin an der Grenze zu Italien. Es zählt seit 2004 zur Gemeinde der Stadt Lugano. Winzige Gassen, Treppen und alte Bauten prägen das Dorfbild.
Das früher von Fischern und Grenzwächtern bevölkerte Dorf ist an den steilen Hang des Monte Brè (925 m ü. M.) gebaut und seit über hundert Jahren kaum verändert. In Cantine di Gandria am Südufer des Ceresio ist das Schweizerische Zollmuseum beheimatet, das zum Schweizerischen Landesmuseum gehört.

Gandria (340 m above sea level) is a picturesque village on the northern shore of Lake Lugano in the canton of Ticino at the Italian border. Since 2004, it has been part of the municipality of the city of Lugano. The image of the village is characterized by tiny alleys, stairs, and old buildings.
The village, formerly populated by fishermen and border guards, is built on the steep slopes of the Monte Brè (925 m above sea level) and has remained unaltered for more than a hundred years. Cantine di Gandria, at the southern shore of the Ceresio (Lake Lugano), houses the Swiss Customs Museum, which is part of the Swiss National Museum.
