ABOUT SANFORD AND SON: The highest-rated half-hour series in NBC history at the time, Sanford and Son stars Redd Foxx as the cantankerous sexagenarian Fred Sanford and Demond Wilson as his son Lamont, also his business partner in the family junk-dealing business. To prevent his son from leaving home, and bent on having things his own way in general, Fred often calls upon such ruses as fake heart attacks or phony back ailments. Lamont usually sees through these subterfuges, but because he loves his father, he lets him think he's getting his way.

WHY cant we have good shows like this today ?
I agree!
Because the generations with a sense of humor are all dead.
There’s funny stuff today you just have to know where to look

I just love it when officer smitty has to translate for the Sanford's and his partner that's hilarious
That's the whole point of the episode. That's the bit.
Lmaooo it's so funny
😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😂🤣😂🤣
Almost 50 years old and still classic
That translation bit is sheer genius, never gets old.
When Fred and Lamont don’t understand the language they look at smitty to translate for them these shows of Sanford and son are too funny
Officer Smity, "Translator in the hood"
Love how Lamont taps Swanny on the shoulder _’did ya peep the dude that’s been ripping em off?’_
This was one of the funniest episodes on the show. The name of the episode was "The copper caper". The ending was excellent.
They had their copper pipes stolen!!!
What's the big deal? You just connect pipe from one end to the other and ZAPPO! You have water.
3:09 The look of utter confusion on Swanny's face!
"I'm comin to join you honey." 😂😂
When officer Swanhouser have to deliver a serious message, it's up to officer Smitty to translate the message to Fred and Lamont.so halarious and so funny.
The '70s, a time when we could all laugh at ourselves.
3:07 Does anybody else find it hilarious that Fred turns his head along with Officer Swanhuaser (Swany) for translation?
Only because with Fred's reaction this part was MORE FUNNY.
My favorite part. Hilarious.
Classic.
Love officer Smith, the black to white, white to black English dictionary
@joseph mierzwa Absolutely!
Just gotta love the expression on Redd's face when listening to the white cop.
These were the best ever TV shows growing up
Can't get enough of that show love it
these cop lingo translation scenes were hilarious 🤣🤣🤣. ..I'm dead.
I love it when they use Smitty to translate
Yeah I love it when they look at Smitty
Love this show still funny after all these years.
47 years to be exact 😉
@@qs3162 thanks..... Damn I'm old! Haha
I don't even know how many times I have re watched this show! I would laugh every time 😂
Still hilarious today a true classic!!!!
Grew up watching this show. I'm 35 now and I still say this is my all time favorite show.
I'm 45 and I love watching this show too...been watching this show all my life too..💯😁😁😁
@jayjaylen75 same here
. 💯♥️❣️❤️
54 here. Yep! Mine too. This BLM crap has us all saying we're European American's, "white" Why does it matter? Politically correct world we live in now. These shows from the 70s early 80s would never be allowed today!! 😳
It truly warms my heart to see so many people who are younger than me by decades who appreciate this great show. Gives me a little hope for the future.
My dad got me hooked watching this when i was around 6 years old, along with some of the other older shows he introduced me to. Now I’m 19, and I still love this tv show to this day.
Fred's facial expressions when Swanee is talking gibberish. Haha! Cracks me up every time. Never gets old.
Officer Swanhauser was played by Noam Pitlik who also played a russian general in I dream of Jeanny and many different characters in Hogan`s Heroes.
So damn funny. Little subtle things like when Fred looked at Lamont and hunched his shoulders when Swanee was talking hilarious 🤣🤣
I love all these old comedy shows and here it is 20 20 and they just don't make them like they used to. The 60s and 70s we're the best TV shows ever filmed and the earlier 80s
James Hereford I agree, but some till the early mid 90s. Carson was still on till 92, Cheers till 93, Rosanne till 98. .
This Episode must have been the first day for Swanny! He was a real trip!
This was the first appearance of Smitty and Swanny.
The way the black police officer translated to Fred what the white police officer was saying...😅😅😅🤣😂
Great comedy when ppl we're allowed to have a sense of humor.
@@samgaudino1698 true 💯
Yeah
@@kimmitchell1692 I died laughing at how Fred was looking at the black officer waiting for a translation..😁😁😁🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
How you can't enjoy this kind of comedy. I love it and never will be offended to this entertainment.
I NEVER GET TIRED WATCHING THIS EPISODE
NON STOP LAUGHING
The look he gives Lamont like "WTH something's wrong with this dude."
Love this TV show so funny I can't stop laughing 😆 🤣 😂
Please come back 1972. Miss you badly.
Fred: OH, This is the biggest heart attack I've ever had!
Lamont: Pop, this is ridiculous time to have a heart attack!
Fred: No it ain't! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My Favorite show of all time! 👏👏☝️
Freds expressions facial exoressions while turning his head. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
OMG..................to this day, this scene still cracks me up................funny shit!
These were the good ole days before people were offended over everything!!
You could laugh at Archie bunker and Fred Sanford back in the seventies, but not no more
That's a lie because it isn't the jokes that have changed, it's the ppl that are desensitized by one thing but are sensitive to another.
@@kialoves2543 it was a whole different breed of people who lived back then. They actually knew how to take stuff in stride and laugh about it. Now the least little thing, they have to have an aneurysm.
@@benjaminlucas1635 You are so right. Nowadays ppl are groomed to be extra sensitive. I'm not trying to take from the seriousness of certain issues but now ppl find issues in EVERY DAMN THING under the sun.
Both were the very best and funniest!!!
@@kialoves2543 Or is it because people don't make satire shows anymore? Both Fred & Archie were ignorant and stupid and the script was written to make them that way for entertainment. Sitcoms are not popular anymore
Fred was a leading businessman in his community.
😂😂😂Best show in history🤣🤣🤣
😃😃😃 BEST
Fred: How you feel Swanny
Fred was right it was stolen copper 😂😂😂
Oh no Elizabeth! The fuzz just stopped by to visit my establishment
I guess at the end the translation is, "he's a white dude."
Right.. they cut that part..🤫🤣
@Gary Mcguckin I guess you didn't see this episode..
@Gary Mcguckin I only saw it 200 times..I know every line on every episodes..let that sink in your thick skull
Relly Rell he said the guy is a male caucasian with no distinguishing physical characteristics........What they left out was a more specific description of the guy.
@@kialoves2543 Lamont and Fred look at Smitty and he said He's a white dude.. That part they cut out this clip..
Comedy is good for the soul
I like how Lamont all cool about the stolen copper but when he and Rollo found some scraggly weed plant in their lawn, he acted like he found ten dead bodies.
I remember this part
Classic! Love it.
Fred needed a black translation.
😅😅🤣😂
Because Lamont is younger and was speaking jive which Fred didn't understand
I love the show so funny 😂
I remember back in the day referring to the police as "the fuzz"👮♂️
is the term " the fuzz" still popular in America ?
I freakin love Fred’s crazy ass. 🤣😂😅
What a great time in America
I told y'all ain't NOTHING LIKE THE 70s.
One of my favorite shows! Smitty has to "translate"!
I love the translation thing…both ways🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“ Sho U Rite!!!
I love the translation, oh boy.. classic..
Noam pitlick.
He directed a few episodes of Barney Miller and I think Taxi as well as many other shows.
Great character actor. Just think how hard it must have been for him to memorize all that cop-speak and deliver the lines flawlessly without reading cue cards. Outstanding actor.
Now I feel like investing into Copper after this classic episode.
A warrant? A WARNING!!!
Comedy gold
And copper is still worth a lot of money.
Officer Swany got it going on.
Good writing
Lol haha😅😅😅😅. Needed this... Praying and crying hurtful tears to end Police Brutality. #3TimeVictim

MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE SITCOM!!!!
Red Fox provided many 😂over the Years.
Officer swanny is really good
This is The big one!!!!
this show was one of my favorits in the 80's when i was living in baytown, texas، decker drive and garth road. also there was aboy carrying catchup bottle in his hand, forgot the show name. bennyhill as well and many
Im 52, white, this is one of my favorite shows. I even dressed up like Fred for a Halloween contest at a V.F.W few years back. My wife applied dark foundation on my face, neck, and hands, had long sleeve shirt, suspenders, even fixed up a bottle of ripple. 3rd place, but had a very ball.
Mickey Rhodes You ol snagger tooth jackass
Stupid ass bitch
Were you able to walk like him too? Fred had a particular walk to him!
@@blockmasterscott On stage and in real it was primarily the same..
@@blockmasterscott I tried my best to do the walk, but I nailed the heart attack in front of the judges. The next year I went as colonel Sanders, and had a stuffed 2 foot rattler in the chicken bucket. Had some damn good scares with that!
R.I.P. Redd Foxx
Sanford it my favorite funny show that make you laugh why fred sanford be off the air it Express bring back the moment
This is so funny 🤣😂🤣😘🥰
Back when civilians and law enforcement would interact with each other without no one dying !

clastic stuff you find on todays tvs........................
Way hoppy tht was my man lol.
The translations. Lol
Hey Fred, what's down?
I just realized that honking at the very beginning was also used in the episode "Matter of Life and Breath."
Funny funny funny
This is the first instance of Smitty having to translate between Fred and Lamont and the white cop.
Hilarious how Fred looks at the brotha cop and he translates the more "black" language to understand lmao 🤣😅😂
A WARANT !!
Clever clever humor that would probably fly over most young millennial kids heads today because of such rampant pc culture fuckin love it
