- Jumbo porgy fishing at The Marine Parkway Bridge in Jamaica Bay. I went out looking for those jumbos, but first I ran into some big Blackfish. I got broke off by a really nice fish also Bluefish were roaming around and taking chunks of any fish I got at the end of my line. I made a small move and I was able to find the Porgies, I was using shore crabs and lugworms for bait. I have to say on this day the lugworms were the bait of choice. I brought my very handy diy fishscaler and I was able to clean the fish by the shore.

Great video , delicious fish ! Dangerous conditions under the bridge.. Gangster fishing 😎 Awesome day.. Thank you , 😮 Really appreciate it..
Thanks bro!. It can get a little rough on a windy day, also the current rips there.
Real nice action good job
@@anewlookatlurestopwaterpop5466 thank you brother. We have to do a porgy video together soon!.
Awesome day on the water man! Love catching porgys. Good eating too
@@nycedreamz615 Thank you bro!. Porgy is much fun to catch and the action can get wild. My family love some fresh porgy on the grill or fried. I also made porgy salad once and it was really good!.
Great video my brother. Porgy Time!
Thank you bro! People are gonna get porgy fever soon. Last year was crazy the amount of people out on the water for porgy time.
Awesome video Greg! Those bluefish attacking was nuts! Can’t wait to hit that area up again this summer!
Thank You and I’ll see you out on the water soon. Sheepshead are in so you know I’m gonna be looking for them around there.
Good catch great video!
@@angelonegron3093 thank you bro!
Wow, Blacks in July, amazing action! I see that reverse works really well there backing it off the pier.. Will give that spot a try next time.
Yeah, water temps are at the sweet spot that everything is biting right now. Good luck bro and thank you for watching!.
Great catch my friend 👏💪🔥 this pretty Blackfish could be a point in a Coastal kayak clash 🤞
@@Kayak_fishing_maniac thank you bro!. I don’t measured it. I didn’t have my measuring board, also I thought that the fish has to be in season I ordered to count. Oh man! Maybe I’m missing out on some points.
@@NYCE_Fishing There is no blackfish season in NJ and fish caught there are scored .
@@Kayak_fishing_maniacthank you bro for bringing this up. If I catch another nice blackfish, I will enter it and see if it gets rejected or not.
Awesome video bro! I seem to be always learning new things from you. Really appreciate you! I never thought to make a fish scaler out of bottle caps. Man that is so NYCE! 😂Tight lines, stay well!
Thank you brother! I really appreciate the support and I’m glad I can share some stuff with people. Yeah, don’t throw those bottle caps away lol, they come in handy.
That's a nice Haul...
Thank you man!
Porgy are delicious! Gut them out…put a little salt…put some oil on the frying pan…6 minutes on one side…then 4 minutes on the other side…eat them with white rice
Sounds great! Thank you for watching!
Nice!! That bridge has always been known for Blackfish. I used to fish on it when it was allowed. Tight Lines bro 🎣
Yeah, I use to fish on the bridge too back in the days. Thank you for watching bro! Tight lines!
they stop letting people fish that bridge???
@@larryp85 I’m not 100% sure, but I never see people fishing on the bridge. Everyone fishes from shore or boat.
@@NYCE_Fishing just did a search. seem like people can only fish from one side of the bridge now. north channel is good south channel side is banned
Yes i agree with you 💯 % blood worms being the best 2ndly lugg worms. 3- sand 4- clams
Man nice days of fishing great video bro
Thank you bro!
Great job 👍
Thanks bro!
hey Great video. I think we saw you out there. the area had some people horse back riding.
Hello! Most likely. Im usually on a papaya colored Hobie Kayak and always wearing a black baseball cap. Thank you for watching! Tight lines brother!.
@@NYCE_Fishing Thanks bro. defiantly will be looking out for you on my next trip to NY
i was out there Sunday on my boat and caught nothing but sea robins. You guys with the kayaks have the advantage when fishing around and inside the bridge. Good stuff.
Try on the other side of the fence. I fish that side when I kicked out by the cops from inside that bridge fence. Try those lug worms for sure, I don’t use clams because I start getting a lot of bycatch I don’t want. I use Asian shore crabs when I’m looking for big porgy.
If you're targeting porgies i would recommend a high low rig, with clam or squid strips for bait, would be a lot more effective at avoiding the other species keeps your hooks suspended and also 2 hooks for double header action
Thanks for the tip man. I don’t use high low rigs, personal preference. I don’t use clams or squid because I’m looking for jumbo porgies, I’m trying to get into those 16 to 18 inch porgies like I did the past couple of years. Also, crabs might give me a shot on the exotics hanging around. At the end of the day it’s whatever works to have an awesome time out on the water. Thank you for watching!
Yo bro every video I look at you I fishing night and day lol
Thank you bro! Stay tuned, I still have to hit the north shore and east Rockaway inlet.
@@NYCE_Fishing ok nice I'm coming in 2 weeks to fish in the city
That's my spot every time I come to the city
Jumbo porgies 👍
Porgy time!
I like the action on the rod I know it's a penn what pound test is the rod
7’ medium/fast… any inshore rod 7 to 7’6” medium/heavy with fast action will do the trick. I use 10 to 15 lb braided line.
Dude, great video. Bridge noise annoying but it was worth it watching you catch fish after fish. What's the limit on Porgys. Also, please show some cooking next time. Love the homemade scaler. You should sell those.
Thank you!. The noise from the bridge can get very annoying. I had try my DJI microphone with wind and noise protection and it doesn’t help lol. I will do a catch and cook soon for sure. I might just do a quick short diy video on the fishscaler.
Where's this at in New York...... Marine Pkwy bridge or Beach channel
Not Beach channel. Thank you for watching 👍
Clams....best bait for porgies, then worms...crabs for Blackfish
Thanks for watching bro. I personally never use clams because all the trash fish that goes for it searobins, small sea bass, cunners and such. I use crabs for jumbo porgies 16,17, 18 inch porgies. My PB is 18 1/2 inches on a shore crab. At the end of the day it comes down to whatever works. Thanks bro!.
@@NYCE_FishingAGREED! You want BIG porgies- crabs- shore crabs or fiddlers are the ticket!
Great non stop action my brother what type of jig was you using.Great Video Salute👍
Hello, thank you brother! I was using 3/4 to 1 oz swing jigs. I make them at home, I’m just still mastering the craft of making jigs and painting them. Thank you for watching!.
@@NYCE_Fishing Thats awesome Salute
Great porgy fishing excellent job , what day exactly was it ? , thanks for sharing.
July 5th. I’ll be out this weekend so keep an eye out for the next video.
Thanks yes ser ! Plus im a subscriber @NYCE_Fishing
Are lugworms cheaper then blood worms and sand worms ???
Yes, a lot cheaper. About 5 dollars cheaper I would say.
Good sport 👏 new sub
@@umidhafizi8382 Thank you, I truly appreciate it. Tight lines!.
Linda pesca donde es ese lugar
Hi. Do you need a heavy jig over there? I know once you're on the outside area over there the current is very strong.
Some guys use heavy lines and yeah heavy sinkers. I use 12 to 15 lbs braided line and I don’t need more than 1 oz jigs, but you have to use the structure to your advantage as well. Thank you for watching!.
You look so cramped in there ...lol
It is. I wouldn’t recommended if you don’t want scratches on your kayak. The kayak takes a beating there, bumpers and some sort of protection for the kayak is a good idea.
how clean is that water may friend?
It’s very clean as far as I know.
That bite on that tog looks more like a 🦈
@@Zeketon that crossed my mind too, it’s possible. Thank you for watching!.
Great vid. ?? Where you buy the swing hook jigs from?
I make them. I’m gonna make some more this week and I might paint them too. Thank you for watching bro!
Hi....question....when does the porgy season starts and when does it end in NY?
It’s in full swing right now. It’s open until December. Check recreational fishing regulations for New York for more accurate information on dates and size limits. Thank you for watching!
hi bro where is that location?
Bro I catch thos crabs on those wood pilings on the start of your video d
They are very good bait. I don’t know they hang out on those pilings, thanks for the tip. Thank you for watching bro!
Try a small jighead and gulp you will 10x your catch
@@yaobuckman5006 Thank you for the tip. Yeah I do some of that and also small epoxy jigs, but a little later in the season when they are more stacked up. Thank you for watching bro!.
I'm here on the north shore you can't drop it down for 10 sec. They are on it! Thanks for the Videos!
We don't get the porgies like you guys @@yaobuckman5006
Sandworms are cheaper than Bloodworms ..in Sheepshead Bay bait store
Yeah bloodworm are way too expensive right now. I think lugworms are the new hot bait. Thank you for watching!.
do u get fiddler crabs by floyd bennet field? thx
I get Asian shore crabs by any rocky shore during low tide. Thank you for watching!
What rod and reel combo you using?
I’m not big into getting fancy gear so here I’m running a penn battle III medium/fast 7 foot spinnning paired with an Pfluger medalist reel. The reel is a good old reel, I don’t even know if they still make it. Thank you for watching!
Need fresh Clams for porgies
Where do you get lugworms?
I would call around to see who has them in stock. Try crossbay bait and tackle.
Cuesta entrar a ese puesto nomas e ido en lancha
No cuesta nada nadamas tienes que tener el estiquer de la ciudad para parquearte y poder pescar desde la playa

Thx for the location brother. I’m in the Bronx. Very hard to find these porgies out here.
Definitely making a trip to that location. Anything I should know fishing under the bridge? Thx again.
Try to fish the end of the tides or you might need some heavier weight to hold bottom and use the structure to avoid the heavy currents.
@@NYCE_Fishing Will do. Thanks again💪🏼
