A little tip: last horizontal rung of the ladder cut it large enough to reach the primal structure so you can make 2 knots to stabilize and make everything more resistant

A handy tip for using the bow drill when it's giving you trouble like that at the start is to put a tiny bit of grit in there to increase the friction ;)
