Draw was a fair result, 7 rounds to five Vargas plus the knockdowns from Ball. Ball was reaching for the head when the skinny body was there to be hit.

Ball must be getting wrecking balls dropped on his stomach at the gym. He had about 100 bodyshots bouncing off him per round and his tempo went up til the end. I know Vargas weighs about the same as a packet of crisps, but that's still impressive. He's a tenacious little unit.
I'm sure being shorter with a thicker torso helps however because the taller Fighters punching down you definitely be losing momentum on them punches

I think he lost the first 6, won last 6 with 2 knock downs. Closer than it’s made out to be but he did win.

@@ianpaul690 They are overrating Nick a lot. He couldn't beat a finished Vargas cleanly. Nick had to do dirty and dangerous things like hit him in the back of the head several times and the referee didn't say anything, he let Nick do it. I should have lost. tied but due to his dirty plays they had to take points from him

Ball did enough IMO for a W, even with the ref acting like an absolute pecker and stopping his inside work. I know many will say that to dethrone a champ, then you need to do something special, but he barely got a chance. WBC should order the rematch and have a Jack Reiss ref the fight. Then remove all doubt while getting a wild payday from the Exellent One. Vargas is a plonker if he thinks he WON that fight.

nick lost the first 5 then dominated, the first knockdown was a bit dodgy but the second sealed the win, he won and will win the rematch
It wasn't a bit dodgy, it was a blatant False Call. He didn't win, nor did he do anything close to taking the belt from the champ.

@@lennon1482 Ball lost the first 6 rounds and 2 of the last 6. He had big moments, but not enough to take the round. He was limited and had tunnel vision. I was actually disappointed in his performance. He was given a layup of an opportunity, fighting a champ coming off a loss and probably slightly weight drained after moving up and then back down. But Vargas took him to school the majority of the fight.

The first knockdown was not only wrong, the ref should have deducted a point from Ball from throwing him down the second time after the warning.
In the end a draw is a fair result for this match.
6 rounds a piece. First knockdown was not one and should've been a point deduction from Ball for the 2nd consecutive intentional roughhouse push. All in all a fair decision. With Ball being exposed as a one dimensional fighter.
that's what a small fighter has to do with a tall opponent, it's not the amateurs, the fella was massive and had a huge reach advantage, never seen a boxer go down so much

He used what he had to his advantage like all boxers previous has done. Was close but clear winner by end of the fight, constant aggressor an put it on his toes from round 6 to the end, including the odd couple of rounds within the first 6. All vargas had was hits to the gloves and the body shot after every break from the ref. Ball bullied him an should be champ, all athletes within the sport after the fight have said similar, none going against. Ball should be having a proper home coming with the belt.

I watched this fight and hands down that scouse kid won the fight. He was robbed a disgrace by the officials. Said this for years officials should talk through their scoring cards after every fight. They have nobody to answer to and it’s not right.
This guy first knock out was not a k.o , he literally wrestled this guy and when he was thrown off balance he throws a punch and that's how you call a knock out? The referee definitely was on nick ball side. Reminded me of Josh Warrington, I wouldn't be surprised if they are gym/buddies . This is sad if you wanna wrestled go apply for the Olympics, they got a wrestling team. Don't get me wrong he's tough /young and can fight but without his wrestling skills it would be better and let's see how he performs without those dirty tactics,

Hardly robbery of the century, Vargas probably won the first 6 and then you could argue at least one of the 2 knockdowns wasn’t a knockdown. Nick was great in the second half of the fight and he’s undeniably a world level fighter but i think Nick wins the rematch.
