this is a Golden Wimbledon Moment.... such a underrated achievement
What a strange feeling it must have been for Shvedova. She accomplished something remarkable that had never been done before yet only received a smattering of applause. I'm guessing that the only people who realized that it was a golden set were the ump and the two players on the court.
No people clapped loudly when errani won her first POINT in the second set. Even shvedova didn’t know she finished the set without losing a point
Yeah, I don’t think she noticed either. She looked very happy to have won a set in straight games but she didn’t look like she realized she had done something exceptionally rare. I think players’ mentality is that the interior details of previous results are irrelevant as they have to focus on the next game. So they only have points in mind till the game is done and games only till the set is done.
Bill Scanlon did it too I think
Players and ump didn't realise at the time.
I also met Scanlon (early 80's), & drove Shvedova around several times for our local tourney. Shvedova was surprised anyone remembered ;)
In all his ramblings, the commie never even noticed that Shvedova didn't lose a point or Errani (top 10 and RG finalist) didn't win a point throughout the set. Totally undersold the quality and achievement of that set from Shvedova.
Thats exactly what I was thinking...the guy didn't mention or noticed that Errani didn't even won a point, let alone him noticing that Shvedova had just achieved the Golden Set!
Jesus I was thinking the same ... I was yelling at my monitor ... FORGET ABOUT WHAT ELSE is HAPPENING IN THE TENNIS WORLD WHAT ABOUT THIS CHICK STEAM ROLLING THROUGH HER OPPONENT ... Bet the commentator would describe this set as Very Decent lol... Bush League Commentary smh.
Terrible commentator. I was really hoping to get to the comment section and find others who think the same.
Totally absorbed in statistical bullshit and barely noticing what's actually happening on the grass. Doesn't assist the drama in any way or form. Awful commentary
that just adds something extra here.... i think if the commie would have said something, the magic would be lost, and we wouldn't be commenting here...
When they came back from the between-sets commercial, it was announced that she had won a Golden Set.
When you consider that in 2013, Errani was ranked #5 in the WORLD, it is truly hard to believe that she did not win a single point. Extraordinary.
It's called WTA.
Errani earned her ranking on clay. She has a heavy topspin forehand and a relatively weak serve. The ball is flying through the air here with the wind and the slick grass. Yaroslava didn't give her a chance. I think the second set was 6-4, though, as Shvedova cooled off.
@@MrRomkash No it's extraodinary. Only happened once in WTA.
This commentator deserves a Razzie.
The only time this has ever happened in a Major tournament, and its only ever happened in history about 10 times, but no opponent had the calibre of Errani who was ranked 10 in the world, and was a grand slam doubles winner. Imagine flipping a coin and getting heads 24 times, its never gonna happen is it?
Well, it will once in a 16777216 times :D
more like 7 times....Bill Scanlon was the only one to do it against a top 40 player
Only 2 times
Great job, announcer, pointing out the historical status of the set. Announcers from other sports would have been all over that kind of thing.
2012 Championships, third round match against Sara Errani.
How did NO ONE mention to this dude that she had not lost a point. Someone has to notice!
Oooh great! Amazing game Yara! Kazakhstan forever!!!
I think Erani only hit two or three second serves. Shvedova hit four aces and five service winners. Erani only got three service returns in play. One ws volleyed away for a winner, one was followed by a good approach shot and a volley, the third was the stab volley
lol 14:42 who remembers that line judge?
FOOT FAULT!!!
Her throat looks a bit bigger from what I remember... is a ball stuck in there?
She attends all the big events ;)
Incredible!
Coming back after her retirement
same
All it is is 24 points in a row. Wow what an achievement
Here after her retirement announcement.
I think the commentator maybe was not sure if the other girl won a point early on .
Either that or he is clueless .
Not even the big 3 has achieved this INCREDIBLE FEAT !!
I don't mind the fact that a big server can win 3 serves to love, especially on grass. But I have been critical in the past about Errani's serve. There are 14 year old's that hit harder than a professional open female player. Look at Clervie NGOUNOUE (USA) vs Brenda FRUHVIRTOVA - Clervie (14 y.o. tournament) was serving at 189 kph - 117 mph.
Seriously. Errani's serve is worse than any male 5.0 player, let alone top junior players. It's an embarrassment honestly.
Well she is only 5'4". That's why her success was mainly on clay.
@@scotth6814 with her fighting spirit, I have no doubt she would have been competitive in many different sports. Unfortunately, she chose one where leverage is important. Her levers are not that long.
I cannot believe that this is no other than tanking or just plain not trying hard enough. Insane.
Utter domination!
Still very impressive!
Poor Sara!Anyway she did a record :-)
24-0 run. Under 15 minutes. Forced the girl into retirement. What a day
Amazing 👏🏻
The commentator didn't want to jinx it.
this isn't the highlights, its the who set lol
Yes, and what would ‘full highlights’ mean anyway? The point of highlights is that they are not the full thing!
I feel bad for Errani. I'm just seeing this today for the first time and she didn't really play that badly. Her opponent just couldn't do anything wrong (aside from 1st serve faults.)
Shvedova did hit at least one second serve ace. I wasn't counting them but I noticed one.
ofc this would happen to Erani - like literally of course.
it's the only golden set in grand slams. i guess noone knows and a few people applaused to score. and the player( the world number 5) bageled. so insteresting....
I think the commentator was drinking too much G&T.
It was middle interesting at 5x speed.
9:30 tho
That was the cool
Rafa / roger - esque
this is ridiculous for errani 😶
What was the final score?
6-0 6-4
@@p4l3rm0alonsomartinez3 Thanks!
fastest set ever
I remember when Steffi Graf won an entire match in 32 minutes. She took very little time between points
@@joemarshall4226 opposite Jana Novotna in final to Paris
That's plain ridiculous. I am 230 pounds, 40 YO recreative player and there is literally zero chance that I would win no points against Shvedova on grass court in a set. Even if we played like 100 sets. If I were Eranni, I would simply retire from tennis after that match.
Have u ever played with someone a little bit with world class professional talent?
@@robinsoncruise2228 I'm 4.5 and I played a sparing set against WTA player in top 1000 on two occasions and both times it was tight (I lost though). My first serve is reasonably fast (110+ mph) so that alone would win me a couple of points against top 20 WTA player.
@@perakojot6524 thats very interesting and insane, I probably am a 2, but I am not familiarized with UTR. Well, she doesnt have a big serve to guarantee her points lol. If u have the time and has an answer to this, whats the UTR of pros and can share some nice experience or insight u got with pro training
