CARDFIGHT!! VANGUARD Divinez - Episode 2: Fated Clash
With the knowledge that Hikari's illness may be cured if he is the last one standing in the "Fated Clash", Akina gains a sense for Vanguard under the tutelage of Nao, his senior from his part-time job. However, as if his line of thinking was foreseen, Gabwelius appears before Akina once more.
"Cardfight!! Vanguard" is a Japanese animation which revolves around the trading card game with the same name. For more information about the game and the world of "Cardfight!! Vanguard", go to the official site (en.cf-vanguard.com/). - Zábava
Gotta say, this is probably the best teaching fight they’ve done up to date
I do agree with you. I did wish that they mentioned the energy generator thing at the beginning of the game instead of suddenly shoving it in mid game.
@@7guides to be fair, it was meant to be a no skill fight, but yeah, I understand that it kinda feels a bit shoved in...
Yeah just have fun. No quirk or prodigy move. But just have fun. They even show the trail deck that about to sell. Nice
@@7guides From what we can see, it works almost the same as Speed World and Speed Counters used in Yugioh 5D's Riding Duel.
@@joshuaamadeusishak1887 I don't think he's talking about HOW it works, but just wanted to see it be used throughout the whole fight. But yes, that is more or less how it works(but cards can actually interact with it). People have been making comparisons of this with ygo 5ds for a while tbh...
The MC made a misplay and it has been acknowledged by another character?? Nah, this is DEFINITELY the best tutorial episode that VG has ever had PERIOD! Well explained, got to see the fights on Cray, and nice animations. KUDOS TO THE STAFF!! Please keep this up!
same staff i think and same animation studios of the other series which are Kinema Citrus , Gift Animation and Studio Jemi although according to the first episode seems like this season they have some help from another studio but not one of the main studios. Just seems that the studios are slowly improving each D series have been doing something better than the last one.
Yosh
Yep and all those heal at 6 damage "miracles" too. I love it when they DID mention that miracles won't happen often xD.
@@muhazzkamarudin1058 until you see his ace lmao
@@tatsukinomiya i just watched the recent ep. No shit he does that xD. Ig he's not called the Fated one of Miracles for naught
Akina has started in Vanguard for only a day and has already bought singles and boxes💀
His teacher has infectious enthusiasm for the game and he has a reason he absolutely has to win, it's not that surprising in context.
@@mattwo7True but boxes and singles are expensive
It was amazing getting to see Akina get into Vanguard for the first time. It’s kinda unfortunate that Nao was the one who taught him how to play only for them to have to face each other in a real match where it matters the most😢
For some reason I thought Akina was going to be one of those stoic protagonists who don’t emote a lot outside of what they specialize in, but I’m happy to see he’s got a lot of personality.
That’s why they have Suo, I guess. Something tells me he’s going to be solid. Sort of like the Kai or Ibuki of this era.
@@ryoshusuke2108 indeed! he got that eerie yet strong aura.
On God based on the initial design that's what I thought about Yudius from yugioh go rush I so thought he was gonna be another stoic protag who yuuhi and yuamu would have to get to open up thank God he's just a passionate goofball.
He's no Kai but Aichi and Yuyu both were very enthusiastic, I don't see why akina wouldnt be
20:41 the way he said “if there is a price to pay, it’s the hope that your wish may come true” is so suspicious that I believe that if the main character lose then his sister is guaranteed to die as his hope for his sister get better is gone, I swear this is just like the plot of wixoss
Ya i was thinking the same when i first hear that being said, l8ke if you loss then there truly is no hope left.
I seriously don't trust that there's no downside to losing. They're literally fighting to change fate, that isn't gonna come without risks
that's what I was thinking watching these first two episodes. glad I'm not alone.
What if he only meant that he fell into despair when his chance to change his fate is gone and he wasn't able to gain anything after he lost? Well, that might be just wishful thinking but I can only hope that's all there is to it.
It definitely has sinister undertones but the idea is that his life would just go back to normal if he loses. So it would be like he wasn’t in the Fated Clash to begin with. At worst, all he gets is the knowledge that he doesn’t change fate and so he stops trying.
Bro, I can't imagine the plushie as anything other than Lelouch doing his side-job
Or Joker from P5's its hilarious
aint just me? great
All hail Gabwelius
He faked his dead for this!
And he is a dragon actually.
This definitely helps me with my day.
My Grandmother was just hospitalized today.
oh man… my condolences all the best in ur grandmothers recovery😢
Hope she gets well soon
Oh, shoot, my condolences. Hope she gets well soon ):.
My condolences, prayers to your family bro
RIP bro
I must admit even for a tutorial episode this was very entertaining not only the chibis but the interactions between Nao. And the twist in the fight it's actually unexpected but a good change.
i liked that we acutally got a tutorial this time unlike overdress
@@ianr.navahuber2195 Overdress and Will+Dress had tutorial it just wasn't as good as this one , this one missed "intercept" tho i think that may cost Akina unless he ends up learning it alone before the Fated Clash. Same animation studios from the previous D series , guess they just keep improving
Damn he still care about that banana. I like the humour here. I invested
So my personal theory is Akian's sister may have underline heart disease. The way she keeps passing out and coughing seems to hint something is going off inside her body. At 22:48, you can see her putting her hand on her chest as she is coughing. This all fits very well with Akian's boss card Raziel, who is a former Angel Feather unit (Note, we don't know why he quit yet but it fits very well with the real-life Raziel who in some stories says he is a Fallen Angel of God). Angel Feather was a clan based on Angels, who were doctors that would rush to the scene and the heal the sick and injured on Cray. Akina rushing to want to play with skills so he can learn the game faster and win the Fated War so he can heal his sister could be seen as an ambulance trying to rush to the scene of a sick or injured person.
... Why am I getting a horrible feeling this is gonna backfire hard even if he tops the Fated Clash.
@@Signerdragon123 This is Vanguard there's always that bit that backfires
Come to think of it, she gripped the left side of her chest, which is usually the spot for the heart ...
@@Signerdragon123 You mean aside from the fact this premise is a lot like WIXOSS and Gabwelius is probably Kyubey's cousin with how much he looks like a magical girl familar?
@@mattwo7 Well I'm expecting Akina's sister to pass away either because:
1. He wins, but is ultimately too slow in changing her fate.
2. Gabwelius pulls a Remember and twists the meaning of his wish to "end her suffering".
Man, Divine-Z out of the gate being really good. The pacing is great so far, and I hope Taizo is allowed to have W this time around on screen
"If there is a price to pay, it's the hope that your wish may come true. That's what you'll lose when you lose."
Hold on. This sounds ominous especially Akina is fighting for her ill sister. If this turns out to be the catch, I don't think my heart is ready.
So the Fated Clash is basically Vanguards version of a Holy Grail War.
Here we go, our first glimpse of what DivineZ has to offer in terms of cardfights.
Excited
@@user-et9ob6mu6e ya
The changed the way we ride back then you ride with any unit In hand now there's a specific vanguard pile. I mean I guess you can set up which cards you want to ride into I guess
@@scarletrose8766its been like that since the reboot the 3rd reboot i mean
@@allen2reckless676 was it never noticed it I dint watched the previous one to this much or forgot about it
Upon looking at the synopsis, I have a feeling that Akina must win every Cardfight for that to happen. He’ll be the next Yusei and Playmaker.
Well I love those protagonists so I am all for it.
You wrong) 2-3 lose I guess. Yusei never lost? Playmaker I know. 1 or 2 draw. But Yusei lost to someone, no?
@@faker3310 Yusei lost against Jack on a flashback on episode 2. And young Yusaku lost three times (probably more off screen) in a flashback on episode 19 inside the lost incident.
And three DRAWs, 2 from Varis and 1 from Bohman.
@@chilup2007 vs Jack yes, thank you. I thought Yusei lost to 1 ore time hmm. With Playmaker it doesnt count. He newer lost a duel, only draw. When protagonist win all the games this is stupid actually and borring
The energy gimmick gives me Speed Counter vibes
I love that little jab at the trope where the main character suddenly gets a stroke of luck at the exact perfect moment right before they're about to lose.
"Miracles don't happen that often"
As well as the trope where in entering a magical card game you pay a massive price if you lose
I will forever miss the Unit animations😔✊🏾 don’t get me wrong still love the show but seeing the units in full other than on the cards was one of the best parts for me I really hope they come back
We’ll probably see the fated ones in full next episode
Or at the very least Rezael and Varga Dragres
@@JustANewHuntereven if we see that, they'll still complain because they want the old style where rear guards (not just the key card) actually appear and being animated more
@@dindapriska probably won't have the old style , and why do that want that , that was just Yugioh , it was like copy + paste what Yugioh as always done also old series had awful animation . Same 3 animation studios of the Dress series , this time they added the first unit rideline animation so who knows what else they will add but doubt they will animate a full fight
Been a long time fan of the series, A Good Official Simulator for Vanguard would be gold for fans to go back to them since the fall from rebooting days 😢
Well darn the plot is moving at light speed it seems
I’m hoping that Akina’s saying there’s a chance one person will have to fight five times isn’t foreshadowing him doing exactly that
if so, i really hope we can get fights outside the "fated clash" otherwise it might be boring
I want to see a fight with Suo not fighting Akina before we get an Akina vs Suo fight.
God this might be the best Vanguard anime yet
I didn't know about Energy Gimmick, it seems interesting.
I like the design of the damage and power screems, they are simple but attractive, and they finally use them again xd
Energy Gimmick started recently it was a mechanic introduced after Will+ Dress and before DivineZ started , it is a new mechanic
It's definitely a good strategy to up the stake this fast to get us hooked, but this also come with a risk of making the pace of the story run too fast as well as fumbling with certain characters's development. Already two of the main characters are going to duke it out in a pseudo death match. At this rate, the Fated Clash will probably end on the very first season which raise the question of what on Earth will happen in season 2 if there is no Fated Clash. As for the characters, obviously the writer gonna need to come up with something for the characters to do once they lost the Fated Clash and that's what scares me because the loser might actually be putted on the sidelines for the rest of the story.
This is a nice callback when Kai taught Aichi how to play Vanguard.
Internet was gone for days, and missed the premiere for the first episode, but now I'm back!
Spoilers!
Well not to spoil much considering this episode was 70% tutorial, with a few foreshadowing here and there, also Gabwelius just casually eating a banana (I would have punched him if I was in Akina's situation) and confirming how the clash of fate will work, since the person who loses is eliminated means that there will be only 5 total matches for this tournament. Also I'm 100% sure that the winner will pay the price for their wish to come true, the deal is too good to be true there has to be an exchange.
Well enough of that for now I'll leave my thoughts about the first episode and this series so far
I'm liking Akina so far in the series it's nice to have a main Vanguard protagonist who's actually more optimistic and can hold a conversation with someone, also him just punching Gabwelius in the face thinking he's a ghost will always be funny to me.
I was certainly surprised to find out that Hikari loves vanguard considering that she didn't strike me as someone who loves vanguard, honestly her love for Vanguard already has me theorizing that she might become a protagonist in the future, I hope that if she does get better she becomes more prominent as the series goes forward since she has the potential.
When I thought Michiru was gonna be the last most ragged character in this series and then Suo appeared, sheesh dude are getting proper sleep, I can't blame Akina for worrying about him. The way I see his story play out is that he either wants to find what he's lacking or just sever something.
Though we only see Mikoto for a few seconds, her being an idol already shows her own reasoning for her joining the fated clash, though more clarification is needed. Finally Nao, I like how she's very passionate about Vanguard, her attitude gives me a Tomari-like type of vibe, as seen in this episode her story for joining the fated clash is that she struggles whether or not she is cut out to become a pro, the person calling her in the episode might be her parents, since she is a college student she probably will give up on her dream if she loses.
For the returning characters, Taizo I feel like he's on a near breaking point considering that he said on Episode 1 that he was so close, yet he lost it's kinda fitting that the new Welstra has robotic Arms in the art which might be why Taizo joins the fated clash, he wants to grasp victory, I can also see that the boss he works for wants him to stop, probably because he thinks it's a waste of time.
Masanori... is Masanori, honestly I wouldn't be surprised if he wished for more chaos.
I'm excited to see where the series goes from here, and see how the fates of these characters change for better or worse.
So my thoughts:
- I'm kinda glad that they didn't do the miracle heal. I love the bait and switch
- They didn't show any units in actual motion but i hope that changes next episode(and hopefully in a style similar to pre D series)
- love the characters, way more interesting than the last 3 seasons.
Honestly can't wait for the next episode. My hopes are currently a 7.5, hope it goes to 9 soon...
I really hope they show the units fight scenes more like in the old series. Like, it gets interesting to see the units showing up.
I think Aki will pull a last minute heal trigger against nao in Thier actual fight.
@@scarletrose8766 probably, I also think he might get a double crit. Create a miracle like the fated one he is...
@@scarletrose8766 either that or Rezael's Divine Skill have something like [Auto] heal 1 damage. It's only a theory but it's possible because 1. We already know how Divine Skill work through Welstra "Blitz Arm" and 2. Rezael's aesthetic is Angel Feather.
@@magicalswordsman5838 I dunno what skills these new cards have since I never bother to look at the actual cards I'm just here waiting for the next ep.
They should return those power indicators they show in the anime in the past, they were very useful to know how much power and critical they have
The current ones Don't work?
@@vhgcv apparently no, despite having a number and critical icon :/
@@dindapriska Maybe we'll see effects on them in further episodes...
Seeing the new mechanic in practice is a lot better for me to understand then just reading them
If Akina and Yu-Yu meet, that will be like the Spiderman meme
Why? They're not _that_ much alike.
@@mattwo7 They are so alike xd
That symbol between each set of 2 characters reminds me of the Fate series
I understand people wanted to see the units in motion but this feels like a good direction for D series begenning fight. Howpfully the other fights are morw dynamix but this was reallt good. A fantastic episode
Nao and aki are both already 2 of my most favorite fighters we have ever had
Here I am the person who really doesn't understand Vanguard. Although I heard about it from some of my friends who like card games.
So, as someone who didn't understand from the start. This episode makes me want to try playing Vanguard too because the simple explanation only deals damage to the opponent.
I wish more used their platform to release like this on youtube :D so easy to follow and watch... great episode. high hopes for the series...not a bad start.
First and foremost, Gab, how and why do you eat? You said it yourself, you're a plushie remember lol.
A good one imo. Definitely rewatchable for all the newbies that want to learn the game. Happy that not only ride animations are back but also the power counters, definitely feels more old-school Vanguard compare the first 5 D seasons. A little bit sad there's no unit fighting but it is a teaching fight so I'll give em a past.
Which we'll definitely getting next episode cuz holy moly that's gotta the fastest rematch in Vanguard history lol.
The first Vanguard fight in DivineZ begins now!
Energy is like speed counter in Yugioh 5d speed duel
Front trigger being left out as usual lol, and kinda surprising no persona ride being done... great episode can't wait for next
13:25 so that's what a "perfect guard" is
I would love if this type of "fated tournament" had a participant that refused to participate. or at first didn't even have a deck.
Just imagine the card just teleporting to someone else until finding one who actually wants to enter, or that the tournament has to wait until that "one who refuses to participate" gets a deck, as the fated cards refuse to accept a forfeit
darn, the new triggers are extremely cute
Main Protagonist has Angel Feather nice change from typical dragons or paladins
But, it is kinda weird. The current Vanguard format no longer has the old clans and instead have the 6 nations that each clan used to belong to. So, each players would technically have a deck with units from different clans of the same nation. Akina used Keter Sanctuary, the new United Sanctuary, some of his rearguard units would've been from Royal Paladin but most of his units especially the ones from his ride deck would've been from Angel Feather. Nao used Dragon Empire, most of her units especially her ride deck are mostly would've been from Kagero and some of her other rearguard units would've been from Tachikaze.
Still annother keter/United deck. Can we get some more variety?
@@evilanimegenious Hey, at least, it's not Royal Paladin or Gold Paladin.
14:13 We're all the protagonists of our own stories. However, we have little control over them, that's why games can give us more comfort in that regard.
The first mc who lose first fight but i still like it
damn that teaching fight was the most realistic fight
Same scene back years ago when Kai teach Sendou Aichi how to play😌😌
I can't wait to see the DivineZ skills in action next week
I’m personally excited for Suo’s first fight. Fated One of Zero
Some call backs to Aichi and Kai’s first fight
Omg I'm so glad this season has the indicators such as the units, power, the damage counter and the crits bc it was def a struggle watching every other overdress season before this and just have people throw cards on the table with no indicators on power or damage so thank u new season for fixing that seemingly.
there were indicators in Will+ Dress already , however DivineZ even shows the criticals which Will+Dress didn't
@@symphonixblades what? Will+Dress also showed crits in its power indicator.
His sister has the worst disease known to man. THE PLOT! It can only be cured after 12 to 20 episodes and has vauge symptoms that are definitely lethal.
Sure it's for plot, but I don't think the symptoms are that vague, tbh. She's gripping her chest in pain after being hyped that her brother is doing cardfight vanguard, which can be a heart issue (unless they said otherwise like a curse or something, idk). Checked out with the fact that she passed out in the last episode too. Who knows if there are more going on with her internal organ, especially related to respiratory and blood regulation
Huh wasn't expecting these two to be fighting in the first round, it'll be interesting to see if the loser sticks around outside of the Clash
The way of informing players to race reminds me of Shoujo☆Kageki
Glad to see Taizo will get more spotlight this season.
Nope. His role is the same as in will dress, step stone for mc to advance further and to make him stronger too.
@@kodokutamashi1569 no I don't think so he might be able have his own spotlight that just my perdition
@@IvanJoseph-zv1lv He is 100% a benchmark and so are others Fate Ones. Suo might kinda be the last and most tough opponent, but nevertheless Akina will win and cured Hikari. To summarise that's the whole plot of this season. Season 2 might be darker and Fate One units will change form, since Fate Clash will be over.
@@kodokutamashi1569 I still need to know how planet cray is connected to the hole fate thing I'm hoping the explanation of this im also exciting to see episode 3 because the is introduced the fated clash battle and also focus on Nao let just they fulish out characters this time and not just skip characters of fated clash arc
Omg the first fated clash is happening so soon 😲
That was a good episode. I like the new characters. But I don't know it's probably an unpopular opinion but I was kinda sad they already started with the fated clash, I was kinda hoping we'd get 1-2 more episodes of the MC preparing and learning the game, maybe some cameos in the cardshop that Megumi works in. Now he already faces his colleague and probably wins. Oh well, I still think it's gonna be good.
He lost. It was a twist
The protagonist lost the teaching fight to her so he can win the real one…
the new counter looks amazing
let’s be realistic this is gonna be a good season of vanguard especially seeing as how they’re being back the universe of Cray and incorporating it within the fights like seeing those 2 units was so clean
You can say that again 😊
Akina reminds me of a certain someone in Yugioh and in the original series of cardfight vanguard...
More cardfight animations!!!!!
YOU CAN'T JUST PAIR THEM UP IN THE FIRST ROUND LIKE THAT ;-;
If nao said stand up the vanguard...man that would make it even better
Unintentionally all of their wishes are gonna be granted

The Power Screen and Damage Screen is awesome design and the Full fight tutorial it's looks awesome overall it's awesome episode also it gives me 5D's Mechanic vibes and the next episode the clash of fate is coming.
Next week episode is going to be crazy they really did a good job so far

Well episode 1 was exciting let's see what episode 2 shall bring for us hopefully they keep this ball rolling.
Isn't the fight area for the fated clash is originally where yuyu & the gangs fought against the Uniformers in the final showdown?
looks similar to it but not sure if it is the same , we did see a card falling in that arena tho
Things are moving way faster than I thought.
Stand up, the Vanguard
That was good teaching fight he made mistakes learned from them and is eager to get better I kinda sucks that he has to use plot armor to win for future fights but we’ll see what happens loving it already
I has honestly rooting for a full animated fight, but if the show still is good i dont really mind
its the same 3 studios from Dress series also animation is way better than the non D series so i doubt they will have the budget to do full animated fights with this animation cuz that takes a lot of time and it is freaking expensive , they added first ride animations this series so who knows what else they will add , i have a feeling they might add more animations but really doubt they have the budget to do full animated fights while looking this good
4:04 how many times are they going to make the hahaha sike cant attack on the first turn joke
Hope there is many card archtype outside the main fated ones that use more of energy mechanic
I just hope Hikari will be alright in the end.. Somethinh tells me I am wrong though(
The fated battle so fast?! Some more pit mentor against student
i miss people saying Stand up "the" Vanguard
The dub of this is gonna be swagger love this show so much ❤
Imagine if he fought a person that had blaster Blade
Sendo Aichi is a legend that is undefeated when he reached his peak. Which is when G next. No doubt there will be encounter cards that used new mechanic. Either Blaster Blade Burst or Exculpate will come.
Oh. Oh we’re going to this route huh? I must say, pitting Akina and Nao first is kinda sick joke if we’re going for elimination right away (Or as that plushie said: Fate is Cruel 😅). Nevertheless I love that Tutorial fight, one of the best tutorial fight Vanguard ever put. But this is raised my concern about predictability of the fights since then Akina can’t lose in the Fated Clash (only in Fated Clash, I do hope he can lose in non Fated Clash) but we’ll just have to wait and see for now.
First vanguard main to lose his first vanguard fight
the guy with the bags under his eyes is what caught my interest....reminds me of myself
This girl just said Sun Tzu LET THE GRAND MEMERY BEGIN
also she is now my favorite character
Love how Vanguard using modern memes and trends. Like the final boss of Overdress/Willdress was literally AI 😂😂😂😂
Honestly, looking forward to episode 2. I don’t know if they will animate the units throughout the entire fight between Akina and Nao. If it is does, cool! If not, that is okay. Overdress and Will Dress already made me got used to the new fighting style with less unit animations
Honestly I like how overdress and will+dress save the unit animations for the big hype moments to make them more intense
Hopefully we do get some Rezael vs Varga Dragres action next episode tho
めっちゃよかった
They never pulled all triggers in a teaching game. Seeing how Akina is Fated One of Miracles, they could make him pull OT as a proof of miracle and there will be explanation too. But I guess OT is totally in the hate zone and that's fair enough.

Fate clash battle with no consequences if you lose ? LET ME IN !
I had a similar reaction as Akina lol. Like, that easy??
