I've always been a fan of non-Crit DPS units in Hoyo games, from EM scalers in Genshin to DoT/Break units in HSR. Grace feels a lot like Kafka in that respect where she just wants to stack Anomaly stats and ATK, though I do fear for her meta viability as a Standard character. Kafka has aged quite well as HSR went on, gaining more gear, teammates and content to favor her every few patches. Fingers crossed that ZZZ's motherly mechanic also ages just as (heh heh) Gracefully as this game progresses.
Then you know they alway suck in mihoyo’s game…my half-build grace and Anton combined is using the same amount of time on electro-weak half as my half build Ellen do in a ice-resist half of the same floor…
I have an inkling she'll age well. Her disorder DMG (and DMG in general) with an endgame build is nuts. My build literally dealt 240k Disorder DMG, but that's because I was farming for her + got her BiS Wengine. I do like her as a hypercarry more though, since disorder teams are a bit too technical for me and would rather play with a stunner instead of piper lols.
First, great video! Just wanted to add a few details that might be worth mentioning: - Her BA4 makes her invulnerable, but it can't trigger a perfect dodge. - Her BA3 is terrible. Without getting too technical, it simply doesn't do enough. It's slow and leaves you vulnerable (Unless c2). - On that note, she can skip basics like Zhu Yuan! To be precise, she can cancel them with her dodge attack. It only works with her dodge attack, the sidestep only puts the next link in a queue. You can extend the queue by adding an ex/special too. - With this we can make a flash combo, taking advantage of her slow BA3 and instant DA. Her string can't be interrupted, so it skips to BA4. This gives her the fastest shock application with tons of I-frames, an ace that trumps almost anything. It looks like: BA1 - BA2 - startup BA3 - cancel into DA - ex/special - BA4 - ex/special. - In theory, she can cancel all of her BA strings for instant Zap charges. In practice, you really want her BA4 and the payoff for skipping BA 1&2 doesn't warrant the mechanical effort. - Lastly, her dodge counter is silly. The fastest in the game, so fast that you can walk right into the attack again and get hit or counter it twice, the latter's daze is better than her ex special at equal levels. Certain attacks (mainly the spinning ones) allow other characters to do this too. However, she's the only one who can do this consistently against most enemies. It also loops with the aforementioned flash combo, so you can perform it at any time without any drawbacks and, of course, it's the key to the string trimming.
@@helper_bot Maybe you queued her BA3 instead of canceling it? Can you replicate that interaction? It's a little unusual and demanding. DA right after she starts spinning and before she shoots is how I got used to the timing at first. Now I can skip BA3 before she even spins consistently.
Since i didnt see it mentioned once again and i'm a heavy disorder lover, the piper/rina/grace rotation can go as follows: Get assault to nearly 100% with piper and swap to rina before it procs, do whatever attack with her and then swap to grace (to give her the pen ratio for stronger shock), proc shock with grace, go back to piper and proc assault, this way you're very likely to proc all shock stacks for big disorder damage.
I've been one of the lucky people that got grace early and I have to say this bear knows what he's saying. Grace is a scary strong unit that can carry your teams via build-up. And sadly I also have to agree that her ult isn't that crazy but it does have it's ups and downs. I'm usually 50/50 between Nicole and Grace on who gets to use the ultimate I use her ult to immediately reapply shock so I don't have to worry about the damage difference And I use Nicole's Ult whenever I want more build-up or just want to deal consistent dmg. I usually use her as the main dps with Anby and a pseudo ether anomaly Nicole paired with resonaboo for easy and consistent elemental build-up.
Grace has been stalking me. Got her at 50 on the beginner pulls, then got lycaon about 20 pulls after. 83 pulls after lycaon I got graces w engine and then 2 pulls after that, I got another grace. I just need rina to be able to have a strong electric team. Can't even build an anomaly team with piper since I don't have her yet, but I have her w engine

Wow, finally found a competent guidemaker. Thank you! Having two limited dps at IK50 pushed my Grace Rina team development back, but I'm looking forward to reviving it with Jane and reaching for new heights. (I keep Grace at 59 though, I cannot handle only technical matters)
Grace was my beginner S rank and I didn't feel like I got that good a grasp of her combos from the in-game tutorials. I love that you take the time to go over them as I was just out here doing whatever lol, had no idea how much Zap each of her attacks got her. Currently using her with Anton and Anby and I'm pretty happy with that setup! I was assuming Anby was more of a placeholder until I got Rina, so I'm glad to hear it's a viable team comp in itself since I'm also still missing Lycaon (hopefully I'll get him before 300 pulls but we'll see).

I've been having some mildly successful results from a S11/Koleda/Grace pseudo-disorder team where my S11 has an Anomaly Mastery piece in her 6 slot for faster burn buildup (and totally not because my disk rolling luck is terrible and refusing to give me atk% pieces). Probably not optimal in the long run but it's a fun enough comp to mess with and has gotten me through a couple Shiyu stages.
Piper team is by far the best for her right now for me anyway. I tend to use Rina's ult since Piper's doesnt really do that much damage if you have her built for anomaly. I'd rather just have more energy on her to spin more and get more buildup.
I was doing stage 14 of shiyu defense with my limited roster consisting of every A rank + Grace (I have 187 pulls and counting saved up for any new anomaly agents) and I want it to be known that Nicole's application (With M1, I have her at M2) is deceptively fast as long as you keep her stocked on energy. With Grace/Anton/Nicole (Piper really wanted Anby for daze) she was able to trigger disorders off of Grace's shocks quite well and one of my shock disorders reached 213k damage. The ether disorders were whatever because Nicole's AP isn't anything special, but since she doesn't have any sort of stat she wants to scale like Lucy or Soukaku, you could get away with building AP on her as long as you keep disc 6 on Energy Regen.
Quickly about hormone punk, Grace is only off field for 10 seconds, not 20 seconds. The effect is triggered only every 20s so it ticks down during the 10s you have grace on field. It's great if you have rotations that work with it, but can be hard to improvise.
Ok hear me out, ZY/Grace Disorder. A lot of folks think ZY can't apply corruption well on her own, but adding nicole with an anomaly build actually makes it fairly easy to stack. Grace can nuke with Ether Disorder and apply shock in basically one rotation. The downside is you lose Grace's additional skill, which is a bit of dps loss for her, but overall it evens out since Ether + Shock disorder is incredibly high damage already (theoretically the highest dmg cap for disorder). The best part is, ZY still gets to build Crit, and she still gets to blast down enemies that are stunned; doubly so since most enemies in the game stagger from ether or shock damage (currently). ZY and Grace have very similar playstyles so it's not hard to rotate from one to the other, and Grace doesn't take a lot of field time, so the quick swap nature of the team is actually fairly fluid.
i would agree on using nicole as anomaly support (i've been equipping rina with anomaly prof IV to help grace out too but its still kinda wasted) just need on a better ether anomaly dps for a third slot and it would be pretty fun sadly though since its not electric and unlikely to be belobog faction, grace resonance wont proc which i think is a core element of her kit
Grace was my first character and became my favorite instantly ive been running a team of Grace, Ellen and sokaku its been so much fun so much damage and cc the enemy is always eather frozen or shocked I got 2 copies of her no luck on the Lycaon to build the ice team oh well I ain't complaining with what im using currently its a lot of fun.

Grace's un-interruptible combo is partly why she feels more fluid to use than Zhu Yuan. Zhu Yuan resets combo (or in best case scenario, resets back to BA3) with movement, dodge, interrupts or Special, and her full combo only starts gaining shells at BA4 and tops out at BA5 (with a hidden BA6). The second reason is that Grace can build 3-4 charges per basic attack, whereas ZY only plinks at 1 Enhanced Shotshell per BA, making it feel very slow to build Shotshell gauge on ZY unless you're also weaving in Special (which resets her basic attack combo) or proccing Chain Attacks, both of which gain 3, but can't be spammed as easily. ZY does more burst damage, but Grace feels 'nicer' to use, for me.

Just remember Fanged for Corin wont necessarily be top tier either. Consider she is like a B Rank Zhu Yuan and wants to unleash all her DMG on a stunned boss, something like Hormone Punk or maybe even Puffer if consistent Ult generation would actually be great. Fanged requires Assault specifically.

Grace/Koleda/Lucy is a great team. You play it very Grace onfield, and set up the disorder proc during stun windows. It's a hybrid of mono and piper disorder.
Grace my absolute beloved Aside from hard pitty on Ellen, she's literally the ONLY SSR I've gotten in the game, including her wengine, and I have her MC2 But she's my favourite so there's nothing to complain about
Grace carried me from early game all the way till Zhu Yuan's release, although knowing that combo can definitely help out those aspiring main dps Grace mains out there EDIT: although it sounds kinda dumb but I've been trying to make Grace Anton and Piper all work in a team because Anby is being used by Zhu yuan (no Rina) basically getting grace and Anton to shock and build up daze, then disorder the shock once the opponent is stunned.
Did you consider Grace ult during Shock status to reapply a Thunder Metal boosted shock during stun for Piper to Disorder Proc? I don't think it's a good assumption that shocks will always be instantly proc'd, especially if you are actually using Thunder Metal. Maybe it's still non-optimal but it'd be interesting to see.
Koleda Lucy Grace applies fire fast enough if you run them with rocketboo, but it still isn't nearly as fast or bursty as the Piper variation if you're going for disorder spam
For bosses sometimes I like to swap anby for ben from the mono electric team, as applying daze on them takes ages. And also because Ben has on demand parry, which is super useful on the drill boss

Day 12 of asking for Guobelle. Standard pulls made me end up with Rina's W-Engine. At this point I really AM pulling for Qingyi, not just for a (hopefully) faster stunner than Anby for Zhu Yuan, but also so I can slap Grace, Qingyi, and Rina together to finish up my 2nd mono-element team.
Day 13 of asking for Guobelle. The free ether meal + coffee is gone, and I felt a deep sadness realizing it. But then I thought, "hey, that means Qingyi is coming soon" and all is right again
Would you be more interested in a Physical Anomaly or Ether Anomaly pair for Grace? The disorder multipliers are higher if an Ether works with her, but Physical’s frontloaded disorder is also appealing.
I see a lot of people recommending thunder metal but I find an issue with that I don't how to work out. In anomaly teams it's not very good because, as u said, shock is normally not applied when ur building up the next anomaly, so the next shock won't be buffed either. But I find a similar problem with monoelectro. If I want my subsequent shock to be buffed, I need to stack up the second one while the first is still active. This creates an issue because if we refresh shock, we are losing on potential ticks. I guess the solution would be doing something like: start with grace and apply shock, get anton drill for a bit, and the go back to grace and apply a new shock before the first one expires. This sounds a bit clunky to do, and I'm not sure if getting anton back early us worthy damage wise. What do u think?
Since you've only covered the 5-Stars in guides so far, guides for some 4-Stars might be good. They don't necessarily have to be as in-depth as the 5-Star guides, but it would be helpful to know if my Billy is on the right track for a Physical DPS, whether Anby is worth investing into as a Stunner, and how TF I'm supposed to build supports like Nicole and Sokaku.
I think the "Omega" combo you mentioned where you go 12DE -> 3DE->4DE is suboptimal. It gives doesn't change the average number of attacks per E (it's still 2 attacks per E on average). Note that the 3rd attack actually has electric, and the 4th attack has a higher multiplier than 1+2 combined. Also note that the dash attack has a significantly lower damage and daze multiplier than the rest of her attacks. For these reasons, you actually prefer to do 123E->4E without doing the side step at all. This optimizes your daze and damage multipliers, optimizes the amount of shock you apply because of the electric hit from 3. The omega combo is really good against certain enemies, where if you just hold left and attack they will never hit you. However, I find the forward and backward movement you get from your basic attack string + E is enough to kite many enemies. The fact that you're a ranged character makes you quite safe already.
its mainly a high ceiling combo, because at least thats what i get reading her M4 and Sig (and M6 doubles her grenade damage which is her main 'basic' damage outside shock) to shock, instead of 3x2 zap combo, you do 2x3 zap given her BA4 takes so long and messes up your positioning a lot

I use her because she can’t get hit if you use her un ex and ex skills like dodges. I use her with Nicole and zhu yuan. Her ability to hit every enemy no matter what is goated. She’s my fav character bar none.
I use the last team, Lucy, Koleda , and grace lol. i know maybe its not optimal but main dps lucy is goat in this setup, i just play koleda unyil stun > cghain combo to grace until shock and all in foe lucy supremacy. but from my experience pepper instead of koleda give bigger number tough
Hey Gouba, there's few doubts I have regarding your drive discs section. You mention that Hormone Punk 4pc is bad, cause you don't want Grace to be off-field for 20 seconds, but isn't the 20 seconds cooldown from the moment the effect was triggered, not from the moment it ended (so it's 10 seconds of downtime, not 20)? I'm not saying it's good on Grace, I'm just asking if I didn't misunderstand the effect. Also, you mention that Fanged Metal 4pc is good in disorder teams, but 4pc Fanged Metal specifically mentions it's 35% extra damage *against the target that suffered assault*, wouldn't that be only worth against bosses who can survive more than one rotation?
So I'm using the grace/anton/anby team and it's working great, my best team by far, but I think I'm not playing grace right since I don't feel like she's doing anything outside chain attacks/switches. My main combat loop is anby stunning the enemy, if the enemy is shocked then switch to anton. If the enemy isn't shocked then switch to grace before the stun happens, then switch to anton. She basically sees very little on-field use, and most of the time I don't need her to apply shock since anby and my plugboo seem to always have shock on when it's time to stun the enemy and go ham with anton. Not to mention the chain attacks. So yea idk if I'm using her right or this is just how the team is normally. I also have piper tho she's unraised atm. But I don't understand the gameplay of a disorder team (atm, what I get is apply shock > apply phys + disorder happens > repeat)

I've been having some mildly successful results from a S11/Koleda/Grace pseudo-disorder team where my S11 has an Anomaly Mastery piece in her 6 slot for faster burn buildup (and totally not because my disk rolling luck is terrible and refusing to give me atk% pieces). Probably not optimal in the long run but it's a fun enough comp to mess with and has gotten me through a couple Shiyu stages.
The Ben drip clothes suit perfectly to your vtuber gouba avatar seriously you should keep it 👌👍
Piper team is by far the best for her right now for me anyway. I tend to use Rina's ult since Piper's doesnt really do that much damage if you have her built for anomaly. I'd rather just have more energy on her to spin more and get more buildup.

I was doing stage 14 of shiyu defense with my limited roster consisting of every A rank + Grace (I have 187 pulls and counting saved up for any new anomaly agents) and I want it to be known that Nicole's application (With M1, I have her at M2) is deceptively fast as long as you keep her stocked on energy. With Grace/Anton/Nicole (Piper really wanted Anby for daze) she was able to trigger disorders off of Grace's shocks quite well and one of my shock disorders reached 213k damage. The ether disorders were whatever because Nicole's AP isn't anything special, but since she doesn't have any sort of stat she wants to scale like Lucy or Soukaku, you could get away with building AP on her as long as you keep disc 6 on Energy Regen.
Quickly about hormone punk, Grace is only off field for 10 seconds, not 20 seconds. The effect is triggered only every 20s so it ticks down during the 10s you have grace on field. It's great if you have rotations that work with it, but can be hard to improvise.

Ok hear me out, ZY/Grace Disorder. A lot of folks think ZY can't apply corruption well on her own, but adding nicole with an anomaly build actually makes it fairly easy to stack. Grace can nuke with Ether Disorder and apply shock in basically one rotation. The downside is you lose Grace's additional skill, which is a bit of dps loss for her, but overall it evens out since Ether + Shock disorder is incredibly high damage already (theoretically the highest dmg cap for disorder). The best part is, ZY still gets to build Crit, and she still gets to blast down enemies that are stunned; doubly so since most enemies in the game stagger from ether or shock damage (currently). ZY and Grace have very similar playstyles so it's not hard to rotate from one to the other, and Grace doesn't take a lot of field time, so the quick swap nature of the team is actually fairly fluid.
Huge waste of ZY as she wants to do all of her damage in a break state.
i would agree on using nicole as anomaly support (i've been equipping rina with anomaly prof IV to help grace out too but its still kinda wasted)
just need on a better ether anomaly dps for a third slot and it would be pretty fun
sadly though since its not electric and unlikely to be belobog faction, grace resonance wont proc which i think is a core element of her kit

Grace was my first character and became my favorite instantly ive been running a team of Grace, Ellen and sokaku its been so much fun so much damage and cc the enemy is always eather frozen or shocked I got 2 copies of her no luck on the Lycaon to build the ice team oh well I ain't complaining with what im using currently its a lot of fun.
This makes me want to lose the 50/50 to her, thank for this guide !

Grace's un-interruptible combo is partly why she feels more fluid to use than Zhu Yuan. Zhu Yuan resets combo (or in best case scenario, resets back to BA3) with movement, dodge, interrupts or Special, and her full combo only starts gaining shells at BA4 and tops out at BA5 (with a hidden BA6).
The second reason is that Grace can build 3-4 charges per basic attack, whereas ZY only plinks at 1 Enhanced Shotshell per BA, making it feel very slow to build Shotshell gauge on ZY unless you're also weaving in Special (which resets her basic attack combo) or proccing Chain Attacks, both of which gain 3, but can't be spammed as easily.
ZY does more burst damage, but Grace feels 'nicer' to use, for me.

Just remember Fanged for Corin wont necessarily be top tier either.
Consider she is like a B Rank Zhu Yuan and wants to unleash all her DMG on a stunned boss, something like Hormone Punk or maybe even Puffer if consistent Ult generation would actually be great. Fanged requires Assault specifically.

Grace/Koleda/Lucy is a great team. You play it very Grace onfield, and set up the disorder proc during stun windows. It's a hybrid of mono and piper disorder.
It needs a fire bangboo though to consistently setup.

Grace carried me from early game all the way till Zhu Yuan's release, although knowing that combo can definitely help out those aspiring main dps Grace mains out there
EDIT: although it sounds kinda dumb but I've been trying to make Grace Anton and Piper all work in a team because Anby is being used by Zhu yuan (no Rina) basically getting grace and Anton to shock and build up daze, then disorder the shock once the opponent is stunned.
Love how they thought of putting a visual cue on the character... but it's in the front so you still don't see it when in combat lmfao
Did you consider Grace ult during Shock status to reapply a Thunder Metal boosted shock during stun for Piper to Disorder Proc? I don't think it's a good assumption that shocks will always be instantly proc'd, especially if you are actually using Thunder Metal. Maybe it's still non-optimal but it'd be interesting to see.

Koleda Lucy Grace applies fire fast enough if you run them with rocketboo, but it still isn't nearly as fast or bursty as the Piper variation if you're going for disorder spam
For bosses sometimes I like to swap anby for ben from the mono electric team, as applying daze on them takes ages. And also because Ben has on demand parry, which is super useful on the drill boss

Standard pulls made me end up with Rina's W-Engine. At this point I really AM pulling for Qingyi, not just for a (hopefully) faster stunner than Anby for Zhu Yuan, but also so I can slap Grace, Qingyi, and Rina together to finish up my 2nd mono-element team.

Would you be more interested in a Physical Anomaly or Ether Anomaly pair for Grace? The disorder multipliers are higher if an Ether works with her, but Physical’s frontloaded disorder is also appealing.

I got C1 grace and her best weapon, idk how but i guess im a grace main now.
I see a lot of people recommending thunder metal but I find an issue with that I don't how to work out.
In anomaly teams it's not very good because, as u said, shock is normally not applied when ur building up the next anomaly, so the next shock won't be buffed either.
But I find a similar problem with monoelectro. If I want my subsequent shock to be buffed, I need to stack up the second one while the first is still active. This creates an issue because if we refresh shock, we are losing on potential ticks.
I guess the solution would be doing something like: start with grace and apply shock, get anton drill for a bit, and the go back to grace and apply a new shock before the first one expires. This sounds a bit clunky to do, and I'm not sure if getting anton back early us worthy damage wise.
What do u think?
Since you've only covered the 5-Stars in guides so far, guides for some 4-Stars might be good. They don't necessarily have to be as in-depth as the 5-Star guides, but it would be helpful to know if my Billy is on the right track for a Physical DPS, whether Anby is worth investing into as a Stunner, and how TF I'm supposed to build supports like Nicole and Sokaku.

I think the "Omega" combo you mentioned where you go 12DE -> 3DE->4DE is suboptimal. It gives doesn't change the average number of attacks per E (it's still 2 attacks per E on average). Note that the 3rd attack actually has electric, and the 4th attack has a higher multiplier than 1+2 combined. Also note that the dash attack has a significantly lower damage and daze multiplier than the rest of her attacks. For these reasons, you actually prefer to do 123E->4E without doing the side step at all. This optimizes your daze and damage multipliers, optimizes the amount of shock you apply because of the electric hit from 3.
The omega combo is really good against certain enemies, where if you just hold left and attack they will never hit you. However, I find the forward and backward movement you get from your basic attack string + E is enough to kite many enemies. The fact that you're a ranged character makes you quite safe already.
its mainly a high ceiling combo, because at least thats what i get reading her M4 and Sig (and M6 doubles her grenade damage which is her main 'basic' damage outside shock)
to shock, instead of 3x2 zap combo, you do 2x3 zap given her BA4 takes so long and messes up your positioning a lot

I use her because she can’t get hit if you use her un ex and ex skills like dodges. I use her with Nicole and zhu yuan. Her ability to hit every enemy no matter what is goated. She’s my fav character bar none.

I use the last team, Lucy, Koleda , and grace lol. i know maybe its not optimal but main dps lucy is goat in this setup, i just play koleda unyil stun > cghain combo to grace until shock and all in foe lucy supremacy. but from my experience pepper instead of koleda give bigger number tough

Hey Gouba, there's few doubts I have regarding your drive discs section. You mention that Hormone Punk 4pc is bad, cause you don't want Grace to be off-field for 20 seconds, but isn't the 20 seconds cooldown from the moment the effect was triggered, not from the moment it ended (so it's 10 seconds of downtime, not 20)? I'm not saying it's good on Grace, I'm just asking if I didn't misunderstand the effect. Also, you mention that Fanged Metal 4pc is good in disorder teams, but 4pc Fanged Metal specifically mentions it's 35% extra damage *against the target that suffered assault*, wouldn't that be only worth against bosses who can survive more than one rotation?

So I'm using the grace/anton/anby team and it's working great, my best team by far, but I think I'm not playing grace right since I don't feel like she's doing anything outside chain attacks/switches.
My main combat loop is anby stunning the enemy, if the enemy is shocked then switch to anton. If the enemy isn't shocked then switch to grace before the stun happens, then switch to anton.
She basically sees very little on-field use, and most of the time I don't need her to apply shock since anby and my plugboo seem to always have shock on when it's time to stun the enemy and go ham with anton. Not to mention the chain attacks.
So yea idk if I'm using her right or this is just how the team is normally.
I also have piper tho she's unraised atm. But I don't understand the gameplay of a disorder team (atm, what I get is apply shock > apply phys + disorder happens > repeat)
Grace with Zhu Yuan is broken. I'm surprised not many people caught up on that combo. It's literally infinite disorder... so funny to watch.
