I’ve been blessed with 22 consecutive Christmases on the street since and 20 of them with my son whom was born after my release. I too have changed my life from gangster to full time dad . @@michaelfranzese My cousin was killed by Joey Calco. He knew he was going to get killed for trying to leave the life. Never ratted to save his life. To this day I say my cousin was a stand up guy. I also wish he ratted. It's fucked up cause I don't know how I should feel about it. Joey ratted to stay out of prison. I don't know how to feel about this. It's a fucked up emotion. I'm drunk and somehow expect you to have the answer.

Love this mans way of looking at things, even bad things that happened in his life. Michael really has a good perspective on life and I’m glad he was able to change the course of his future and move on from a life that would have wound up killing him or sending him to prison forever.

This is indeed a sucky Christmas. I had a recent death in the family. I, my mother and multiple other close relatives are currently recovering from Covid. It's easy to lose hope. Thanks for your positivity. There are many who are much worse off than us.

Great video Michael. Always get a blessing thru your stories. I found this video after seeing a 60 -minutes story on Casso. They showed him testifying in Congress about the gas scheme. I was yelling out loud "What? No"! So, I had to look this up. God Bless (even though you will likely never see this)

Michael, could you do a video about the mob’s “rules” and how closely they were actually stuck to/enforced? I think a lot of people are interested in the mob because despite being criminals, they nominally had a code of conduct that other criminal groups do not keep to, and I was curious about whether that was a myth or not.
This is a great topic indeed. Pretty sure that Mr. Franzese has offered a glimpse of those over the course of various videos, but to talk about these rules in a single video is a great idea.
Also, it would be a great time to dispel some myths about such rules.
I was just thinking about this also whilst watching The Sopranos. Some of the guys (Paulie and Chris) did things that would have surely got them whacked in real life

I remember a scene in the Sopranos where Paulie and Christopher kill someone who argued with them over a car or something, a totally trivial kill, and I was wondering if that would be punished by the hierarchy, even if it was just out of pragmatism.

“Gaspipe” was an amazing book. It was hard to put down.
Read "The Brotherhoods" by William Oldham. It's really the story of the two NYPD detectives that got mixed up in the mob. Anthony Casso features pretty prominently in the book. One of the cops, Lou Eppolito, tried making a movie career for himself, and he has a quick appearance in "Goodfellas", in the same scene where they introduce all the guys, including "Mikey Franchese" (Michael Franzese).

Michael, read Thomas Aquinas' magnificent "Summa Theologica." Other than the Bible, this is the best book I ever read, especially as a Roman Catholic. Be forewarned; it's 3,022 pages long, and you'll love every one of them.
Aquinas and his 5 ways , could have been a great philosopher if he was not hamstrung by his erroneous Christian (scared of the dark /instilled by parents/gone through severe life trauma ) beliefs

@@marcusaurelius8493 Sarah, I read the entire Summa in 2009. It took me 8-9 months to read it all. I won't deceive you; yes, it is dense reading. But for any Christian who wants to dive most deeply into their faith, there is simply no better book to read. Because Aquinas wrote this book in the 1260s and 1270s, I would first familiarize yourself with the terms at the back of the book. You can then read the incredible preface written by Pope Leo XIII, who essentially said the Summa is the base upon which Christians should start - along with the Bible - to experience virtually everything we believe and stand for. After I read just one page, I was hooked. I couldn't then, and still can't now, fathom how any human could reach the level and degree of clarity and thought that Thomas Aquinas gave to the world. I am very biased, however. He is my hero and I make no bones about that; any man who could dictate in the 1270s to 4 secretaries simultaneously is beyond being worthy of my respect. I am no scholar but I was a Trappist Monk years ago at Saint Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts. Although he was only 48 or 49 when he died, Thomas Aquinas gave us the quintessential human gem of a book; he literally attempts, and I believe succeeds, in giving us the paramout elucidation of Christianity - again, other than the Bible itself. All I would say is if you start it, give yourself months to read it as you will want - and need - to allow this man's utter magnificence to slowly sink in. I would suggest actually buying it. ( From 1962 - 1965, at each and every session of Vatican II, the Pope and bishops had one book prominently displayed and opened on the main altar, and it wasn't the Bible. It was the greatest Magnum Opus of Christianity - Thomas Aquinas' spectacular Summa Theologica.) Good reading, and ignore the other negative comments in this section; they are not enlightened to God's perfection - yet!
