      Aww thank you Eileen but this time is much less of an issue (hopefully). I can cope with a few minor ops under local anaesthetic. Great to hear from you and I am grateful as ever for your kind support ❤️

      Bill, I also deal with sciatica. I've found stretching exercises on youtube that really help to alleviate the pain. You might want to check there for drug free relief. Best wishes to you!

    • @billrogersburp

      @lpgirl Sciatica is horrible Kathleen. The only thing that keeps my back mobile is a daily routine of stretching as part if a workout I try to do every weekday morning. I've been doing this since my 20s when I suffered sporting injuries then. The wounds on my back though have stopped me doing this for a month and that I'm sure is why my back has flared up again. I'll wean myself off these painkillers in a few days and start my exercises again. Good to hear from you. Take care. Bill ❤

    I'm glad you turned the comments back on! Sorry you're having such bad back pain. I pray that your biopsies all come back with good news and that your doctor can help get you some pain relief! FYI - I just had my 3 month check up today and the CT scan results are good and I don't need another check up for another 3 months! 💜🙏

    When you say the Pain Team, I assume you mean the Pain Clinic ? If so....Salvation! They are superb. Honestly they have helped several patients of mine Bill when been referred to the Pain clinic! :) So sorry you have been feeling poorly still Bill. Fingers crossed that you feel better soon! :)

    • @billrogersburp
      @billrogersburp  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Yes Jonathan - that's right. I'm not sure my GP is making the referral though. He rang me today and we agreed on what he woud prescribe (Co-codomol, Naproxen, Diazepam and Oxycodone)./ I expect if there is no improvemnt after a few days we can thnk again. I admitted my Solpadol expired in 2021 and the Naproxen in 2022, so maybe they weren't effectiv because they were so old! Thought he'd tell me off but he laughed. Great to hear from you ☺️❤️

    I sympathise with you Bill. I have severe back pain as my two lowest discs are badly worn. I find a TENS machine helps. Might be worth you trying one. I’m allergic to painkillers that have codeine and also morphine so have to make do with paracetamol, not much good really. I also have a good physio who’s given me exercises to strengthen the muscles. Sending you positive vibes. 😀

    • @billrogersburp
      @billrogersburp  Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you Francine. Poor you! You must be in a lot of pain when it flares up and being unable to take strong pain relief is a nightmare. I do have a TENS machine which I bought years ago. I also normally do a morning workout which starts with back mobility exercises but I can even do a knee roll at the moment because of the wounds on my back. The daily routine keeps my back from seizing up so I'm in a Catch 22 situation. Thank you for your kind wishes ❤️

      Thanks for your reply Bill. Life can be a real challenge sometimes. I’ve had 5 operations for breast cancer and lost part of my large bowel during treatment. Fortunately I didn’t need a stoma but still have issues. Having a supportive partner is so important and Helen obviously is one. 😃

    Hi Bill, Naproxen 500mg has been prescribed to me (absolute worst for pain relief, does not work but has major side effects if you have any issues with your bowel or surgeries)

    • @billrogersburp
      @billrogersburp  Před 4 měsíci

      Hi Stephanie. I think Naproxen is more for an anti-inflammatory for relaxing the muscle spasm than pain relief but I haven't had any side effects so far. I'm taking Diazepam too as that also relaxes muscles. The cocodomol does constipate a bit but that makes quite a refreshing change for me 😂. To be honest, when the pain is so bad, I'll take anything and worry about side effects later. Today I do feel a bit better though as the sciatic nerve seems to be more a problem down the side, front and thigh rather than my lower back. Although it still hurts at least I can move about a bit rather than crawl

    I’m a little younger than you are and get a skin cancer check of my entire body once a year because I got several peeling sunburns as a child, and that increases my risk of getting melanoma skin cancer. These days parents know it’s important to put sunscreen on children.
    The good thing about statins is that they became widely used in the late 1980’s so doctors know a lot about the effectiveness and side effects now. It’s always good to avoid “new” drugs because sometimes problems with drugs don’t become obvious until they have been used for years.
    Ketoralac is for moderately severe pain - so it’s less effective than morphine. I’m guessing they were afraid to give you more morphine so that’s why they added that. Pain doctors sometimes do injections that last longer than pain pills - especially these days when doctors don’t like patients taking opioid pain pills regularly.

    • @billrogersburp
      @billrogersburp  Před 4 měsíci +2

      Good to get those checks. It's amazing that people still fry themselves on sunbeds too even though we know the risks. Mind you, I admit I do have an occasional cigar so I can't talk. I have a new batch of codeine, Naproxin, oxycodone and Diazepam. Looking forward to a good sleep hopefully 🤞

    No need to answer comments. Did you say what type of skin cancer you had? Basal cell, melanoma?

    • @billrogersburp
      @billrogersburp  Před 4 měsíci

      It's just malignant melanoma. I don't think there is any other more detailed name for it. My father has a Basal cell carcinoma on his ear, so I know about that which is something a bit different. In his case it is just being monitored because I can't get him to hospital for surgery due to being housebound. Luckily it hasn't really got any worse over several months and doesn't bother him.

      @@billrogersburp I got the same diagnosis last year. Luckily, my wonky mole was in the front; so I spotted it right away. I think we were part of the same generation who went out into the sun with a bottle of baby oil and no f*cks given. Take good care.
