    The added piece is a “wiper” and it’s supposed to prevent cut grass from being cycled back through the deck which causes clumping.

  • @agoushy74
    @agoushy74 Před 4 lety +2

    Nick, I always keep my decks unclogged. I’m not a clean freak and I don’t clean them all the time, but Keeping them unclogged will indeed help the cut quality. If those blades are working too hard on cutting and the clumps of grass it will directly affect cut quality. Also, keeping an unclogged deck will help the baffle system to work better.

    @4BlessingsFarm Před 4 lety +2

    That piece on the deck is removable and is there to help discharge the grass. Love my Spartan.

    +Here is a tip for you. Any good mechanic will tell you that clean oil is the best oil,. Clean , Pure synthetic oil (Mobile One, Amzoil, Pennzoil Ultra), is next. Please consider changing the filter only, around 250 hours.. I do this on all vehicles that require a filter. Some even have a bypass filter. This will save you time, money and extend your oil and engine life! Hope this advice helps you. Pure Synthetic oil really does not wear out , but the additive packages and contaminated oil will wear on your engine. I am not sponsored , but just passing along some life experience.

    Nick. I have a Spartan SRT PRO 61. I've had it 2 years and mow 40 lawns a week with it. I'd put it's cut quality up against anything out there. I did change my oil at 50hrs. I also mow with 3 different mowers depending on gate size and lawn size. Next up I'm looking at Spartans new stander. What's your thoughts ???

    I removed the little deflector you were pointing to. I have my side discharge completely sealed off for mulching. Works fine. Only problem I have is if engine is cold sometimes the belt pops off when I engage blades. If engine is warm blades engage with no problem.

  • @jrblandscapingandsnowplowi4935

    Look on the other side of the mulching bypass plate, i guess I'd cll it. Both my #worldlawn have them, the 52in king cobra, and the 32in walk behind. Yes a dirty clogged deck will affect the cut quality and clogging. Suction as well. I notice when my deck is dirty it has a harder time discarding the grass, and wants to push the grass out of the deck more instead sucking everything towards the inside of the deck. Also the bigger the deck height, the standard is around 5, mine and a fe others are 5.5, also some have a blade overlap of only 1/2in to 1in, mine and some have a larger blade over lap of 1¹/4in to 1¹/²in so it doesn't leave stragglers and lines. Also not sure how the blades are made, but try to find a blade that start closer to the mounting hole, instead of the cutting edge starting further away from the center. Makes a world of difference. Glad i saved this for today while cutting grass. #wapacha #loyaltyiskey #ninjanation #ninjalife #sliceanddice appreciate you bud. Oh and i need one more sticker to put on my trailer #wapacha #represent #ninjaforlife

    The main deck baffle is welded in. The mulch baffle can be removed.( On most models) You will notice the grass clippings will be larger and are blown out the deck further. Hope that helps

    Do you check the blades on the demo mowers to ensure they are sharp allowing you to get the best possible cut? If not it’s not a good test of the mower. You would think the dealerships or manufactures would ensure everything is at an optimal level before delivering a demo mower to anyone.

    Good info and as always, interesting seeing real life usage of equipment, especially in challenging conditions like the wet grass. Looks like the commercial grade mower market is very competitive, so I’m sure Spartan is trying to add features that make their mowers stand out👍 Have a great weekend 😊

    Switch to snapper/ferris high lift blades and you'll get an even better cut. Its a longer cut blade and higher lift. I did it on my Mark Martin 61 and could tell the difference from the stock blades

    looking really hard at purchasing a 54" and 61" Spartan, exactly like what you have. Nobody in my area is running them, so I can't get any feedback on them. I currently run Exmark, but am looking for mowers with more power. What's your unbiased opinion on the Spartan.....should I pull the trigger?

    • @sgninjas
      @sgninjas  Před 4 lety +2

      I love the spartan, it’s built tough and solid. Being that it’s the best looking mower in the industry is a plus. The cut quality is great and the price for one is unbeatable in this industry. Best of luck whatever you decide. 😉👊🏻

    No satisfied with reliability of the Spartan 54 with the Kawasaki FR691V engine.
    32 run hours and it won’t start. Bad fuel solenoid. The parts are back ordered with no end date. 3 weeks without my mower and counting. I called Spartan to ask if they had a contact with Kawasaki. I was told not their issue to take it up with the dealer. Poor customer service from Kawasaki and Spartan.

    hmmm, I have the RZ 54in model... and my rig cuts like CRAP... leaves a strip between the 2 right blades.. thought it was the blades, got the high lift blades.. still present... had the local dealer out to inspect the deck (spindle, belts and blades) and confirm RPMs.. it's just not getting enough suction.. they've seemed to have corrected and/or addressed this issue with a redesign for 2020... I've contacted Chip Passmore, Service Manager with Spartan, now waiting for the "Warranty department" to make a decision on sending a 2020 deck... I didn't buy a 54in cut to only be able to use half the deck or else I would have bought a 48in.... And after seeing the bottom for your deck after wet grass.... maybe its going to make it worse for me.. now I'm concerned... should have gotten a Hustler...
