I was converted to Christ when I was 17, and am now 74. I have seen many come to Christ or so it seemed they did. They would be all excited and would come to Bible study and church for a little while and then would experience trials and fall away. I have seen this over and over through the years. It would grieve me but I had to realize what Jesus said in the parable of the sower. It took a while for it to sink in.
I see we've met, I'm back on track now thanks to a grandmother's prayers and the Holy Spirit.

We who follow the Lord Jesus Christ have confidence and assurance that we will inherit eternal life just as the Lord Jesus taught. We know all of our sin is already forgiven. Personally, I am inclined to a pre-trib rapture, and have taken the view that 'those who endure to the end' refers to those believers who mangage to live through the tribulation without surrendering to the authority of the beast, and to those who are martyred for Christ during the Tribulation.

The verse immediately preceding talks about "most people's love growing cold, but he who endures to the end will be saved." Putting that together with Jesus' instruction to love our enemies, that can only be achieved through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Yes we must endure to the end, meaning no matter what we are going through in this life on earth, we are not alone because Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit. When you heard the word, received the faith and put that faith and trust in Jesus, then you are saved. ( Read John 5:24) It is a gift.. ( Ephesians 2:8-9) a gift that is given cannot be taken away. Meaning the one who received Jesus as his/her personal savior and Lord is truly saved. You will then be in the process of regeneration and sanctification. We can only be made perfect until the day He comes. God gave us the assurance of salvation meaning you cannot lose it. We will still be sinning because we are still in the flesh vs spiritual battle, however we pursue holiness until the end. Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit.. 2 Corinthians 5:5”He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee”.

I had the misfortune to be required by my college to listen to a speech by Anthony Campolo. I was not impressed as were other students (possibly because I was older than they were). Your prayers for your children stay with them even after you’re gone. Keep praying for them. My grandmother did that for me. She died very concerned of what my fate would be, but she told a family member that the Lord told her not to worry that I would be saved, I was in my 20s then. It took until last year when I was 59 for me to accept Jesus into my heart but God did not lie to her, and I thank him for that every day. Her prayers definitely stayed with me, as will yours for your precious children. Bless you.
