Marten Hunting Birds
A badass mink breaks into an eagle enclosure at the Vancouver Zoo and attacks the birds of prey. Imagine, these are no chickens he’s attacking, and it shows because the eagles stand their ground and the marten runs off. A dead animal that’s been crushed by something lays dead on a table at the end of the video, and I’m guessing it’s most probably the eagle’s food. An American marten defends a piece of bait from a Northern goshawk in this video. The bait is set up to attract martens to a remote camera station that allows researchers to identify individual animals using their unique chest and throat markings. A bird box is a man-made enclosure, also called a birdhouse or a nest box, provided for birds or other wild animals to nest in. Because they are man-made, bird boxes stick out like sore thumbs and attract opportunists of all shapes and sizes.
They are built with good intentions but sometimes they serve the predators better than the families they are perceived to be helping - a double-edged sword of sorts and in this case, a marten feast on a few young chicks. Small mammals such as red squirrels, red-backed voles, meadow mice, white-footed mice, snowshoe hares, and marmots make up most of their diet, which varies seasonally. Birds, eggs, insects, berries, beechnuts, and carrion are all eaten by martens depending on availability and season. In this video, the pine marten snatched a tasty bird. A cute marten named Whitey caught a bird at night and spent some time running around with it, probably looking for just the right place to stash it.
The night before was the first un-foggy night in ages, and his owner was lucky enough to catch Whitey going hunting in one of the apple trees. Martens will attack a blackbird’s nest when it locates one. This mom takes care of her chicks and makes sure they are okay. A little later, during nightfall, mom briefly leaves the nest and the chicks unattended. That’s when a marten crawls up to the nest, sticks his head through the crack, and begins to swallow the chicks one by one until the nest is completely empty. Upon the blackbird’s return, she sees the empty nest and is stupefied. Maybe she should have gotten a babysitter before going out with her friends.
Yellow Throated Marten VS Monkey
In this video, the marten's hunting behavior is plainly visible. Due to his injuries, the monkey was unable to climb the tree or move correctly. He had no choice but to protect himself in any manner he could. Even though martens aren't much bigger than langurs, this marten was making it very difficult for the langur to escape, demonstrating its skills and challenging the monkey at every turn. In Corbett National Park, onlookers witnessed an unusual primate predator in bloody action. A pair of yellow-throated martens were trying to kill a terrified-looking rhesus macaque. The monkey eventually succumbed to its injuries because of repeated attacks by these brutal killers.
While the monkey used a strategy that delayed his death, knowing the martens couldn’t swim, he sat on a branch just above the water, so the martens couldn't get to him. The IUCN has classified the yellow-throated marten as “Least Concern” due to its widespread distribution, evidently very steady population, presence in several protected areas, and lack of serious threats. While the marten is attacking this monkey, the monkey isn’t defending itself. It’s barely trying to get the marten off its back. You can see the monkey has an important laceration on its back as well. I thought monkeys could bite and scratch, but this little guy seems shy and timid.
"Martens"...thumbnail shows image of Tasmanian Devil. Not gonna lie, I LOL'ed, for real. 🤣
Yup!
Most of these people making animal video sensationalism can't even tell apart a male deer from an antelope, a hawk from a falcon, a puma from a bobcat, etc.
Marten = America's analog of the Tazmanian Devil of Australia.
Love martins! Theyre alike weasels, minks, stoats, 😍
They all in the weasel family
Didn’t know Tasmanian Devils were martens!
My heart goes out to the poor animals that were brutally killed by the marten 😢
Wow ! None of those geese wanted any of that smoke 😮
*Did you see that person narrowly avoid getting hit by a car? They must be the luckiest person alive*
The picture @7:31 is a Tasmanian devil which is just as crazy as a honey badger.
"Sticks his head through the crack, and begins to swallow the chicks one by one . . . " Thanks, buddy. If it weren't for your astute narration we couldn't have understood what was going on.
This is why people must not take these videos as fact because the picture on this header is not that of a Martin at all, but that of a Tasmanian Devil...😮
Exactly
The Taz devil is extinct and very rare
@banuraismail No, it's not extinct at all.
They're still doing fairly well out in the Australian wilds, and a nice batch of them are doing just fine in zoos around the world, just so you know.
@@ismailbanurayou’re thinking of the Tazzie Tiger, or Thylocyne
Exactly....damn clickbait
Thumbnail looks to be a Tasmanian Devil.
Thumbnail is Tassie Devil
7:33 Tasmania Devil
Awesome video
are martens minks and weasels the same?
What are those eyes in the background at 8:03 ?
fantastic vidéo and spéctaculary vidéo
Ah, The Fanatic and his trademark "I can't be bothered to properly edit these videos or even give accurate information on the events and animals depicted" style. He says "Both animals show up on camera, but not at the same time " as the footage literally shows precisely that happening. 8:39. The Fanatic was unable to finish his night course on film production at the Community College because he had to focus on graduating with honors from Clown School USA🤣😂🤣😂🤣
697k subscribers. People eat this stuff up.
Thumbs up
16:18 it's a hobby dog. my dog gave this predator five seconds only but mine is a german shepherd
Is a Martin and Fishercat the same animal?
No, they are related but Fishers are much bigger.
Good night sir video is interesting ❤
5:13 why did the chicken cross the road? Because the mink was dragging it.
Nature is incredible.
Definitely designed.
Very evident of the marvelousness of the designer.
Vicious little buggers, eh!
GRUESOME little creatures...like their cousins..Wolverine and Honey Badger
I honestly believe a Honey Badger wouldn't fight a Marten. Their energy is unmatched
They're not cousins.
The Taz is from Australia and is a Marsupial, like the Kangaroo, meaning the females have an abdominal pouch and raise their young in that.
Their milk glands are in the
pouch as well.
Moments Martens Kill and Rip Off Their Preys Body Mercilessly
Compared to animals ,humans are the most arbitrary and extreme ,
aren't the martens and the minks different species?
Why did the chicken cross the road? Because the mink dragged it across.
The marten and that seagull was impressive how the marten go into the water to hunt Him, but thats a fact, when the animal or human have hungry, that s the worst experience You can have, and You just imagined dont have one or two of the principal meals of the day how the body will feel, inclusive you can ill soddenly, I dont tell it just like that, thats a fact
Its not a marten.
What an energetic trouble maker.
A marten would beat a fox surely?
You do know that that's not a marten in your thumbnail, right???
I just want to know, is that a cat in the 3rd clip?😢
Yes Kalah itu sama si kucing lari dia😂😂
@@Danyyyyty what you from?

Why thae thumb nail showing a Tasmanian devil
Perkelahian yang sangat mengerikan
Oh my gosh that thing needs an exorcism .
Weasels and minks are not martins.
I must be grateful not live near wild places, that is, I have no mercy nor do I hate them, but they are and remain in the wild, that means that they can attack you at any time, so, must be cautious and alert
*Alhamdulillah*
Change the narrater please 🙏
UMA PRAGA
At 7.25, "martin vs Fox' That is a Tasmanian devil eating a wallaby. Terribly inaccurate narration all through
