  • The Shonan Monorail is a suspended monorail located in Kamakura (Kanagawa Prefecture) and was introduced in 1970. It was also the first of its kind in Japan. The monorail runs on the Enoshima Line, which is 6.6 km long (4.1 miles). It takes travellers from Ofuna to Enoshima stations. Riding this train kinda feels like riding a roller coaster. At times, the driver was going fast :D
If you enjoy this type of trains, you can also travel to Chiba, in the Chiba Prefecture, which is about an hour or so from Kamakura. The Chiba Urban Monorail is about 15 km long (9.44 miles). If you are travelling from Tokyo to Narita Airport, you can always make a quick stop to experience the Chiba Monorail.
