    We install the hood locks (or hood pins) on our 1972 Mach 1. These hood locks were used on the 1970 Mach 1, Boss 302, and the 1971 1972 1973 Mach 1, Boss 351.

    Cool addition. Ram air is really gonna be a nice addition. It’ll be much happier in the SC summer time!

    All the boys in our neighborhood wanted a Mach 1 in the early seventies. I did buy a 1969 Mustang 351W 4V in 1979 and everyone wanted to drive it. Keep your videos coming!!!

    Yay, another Mach 1 Vid!!!! Keep 'em coming you guys!! My Mach 71 Mach has the ram air and hood locks, and perfect alignment is difficult. In my case, they are completely factory to the car, but getting them to work *perfect* is a chore!!

    I can relate. Wanted a mustang for my first car but always 1k$ more than I could afford. Luckily a 71 Maverick Grabber popped up at the perfect price range. Fast forward 35 years and wasn’t looking but a 73 Mustang coupe magically appeared in a poor mans price range. Rough shape which is why I love your videos because you are always working on stuff I need to work on. Thank you for all you do!

      Thanks for watching. I almost bought a '72 Grabber 302 3 speed, but the body was TIRED. The front end would lift and twist. Crazy I never even bothered to look under the car to see why. It was a solid NOPE. Love those cars.

    I remember the first time I had to drill a brand new painted hood. I had just finished my apprenticeship at the Freightliner dealer and was handed a ticket to install some new hood mirrors on a truck. I was so nervous. It turned out fine, and prepared me to install badges on my father in laws freshly painted fenders.

      Me too. First time I saw the thing it had flat tires, no stripes, and it was DIRTY. Paid too much for it, didn't care. It was my third grade crush (well a facsimile there of) and I had to have it.

    Hey team Resto Mod love they show always fun and informative to whatch
    Jeff can you please tell me what Radiator and size you have plus what temp and brand thermostat do you have in the 351c
    I want To buy aircon for my 351c but need to know I I must change the Radiator or the thermostat
    PLEASE thank you

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  Před 3 lety

      I run a 160 degree thermostat and the radiator is the stock one (the top plate has a part number on it and is an A/C radiator). I had it re-cored. three core high fin count should be good IF the be bore is good and not thin (The Cleveland, like the 428, is prone to getting warm when the bore goes over .040). If you want more help, email me at jford@autorestomod.com

    Where do I mount the latch catch is my issue, I've got a 73 Mach 1 and it's missing everything under the hood to latch to

    What size metal hole saw did you use for the top of the hood?

    Good job! We did a deep restoration and enhancement of our 1973 Mach 1 the other year. One of the enhancements was to add the Dzus hood locks, more for the aesthetics than for any real "performance benefit." But, that said, they do look great when installed properly. When they are not installed correctly it can be very goofy looking on Big Nose Mustangs (1971 -1973). I have a video showing what happens where someone used the radiator support panel to mount the Dzus locking mechanism, as opposed to using the locking mechanism extension bracket. What a sad looking result. Here is the link to the CZcams additive info link I tossed together. I hope it helps spare someone some grief. You know how it is, once the hole is cut it is hard to go back for a do-over!
