Ep. 287 | Coyote Night-Vision/Thermal Season Setups | $3K Budget

- Often times we get phone calls from customers who are looking to find a high quality, yet affordable combination of a night vision and a thermal handheld for coyote and predator hunting. The benefit of this setup is being able to use the thermal monocular for quick detection of animals and using the night vision scope for positively identifying and shooting the animal. This is an excellent combo for hunters on a somewhat tighter that budget that doesn't quite allow them to purchase two thermals but it still gives them the best of both worlds, identification and quick detection. Listen as Hans and Jason offer suggestions on both night vision scopes and thermal handheld combos.

*** Why Hunt Coyotes and Predators? ***
Coyotes and Predators, similar to hogs, cause financial stress for many families in rural communities. Coyotes kill livestock, plain and simple. Ranchers have battled coyotes killing cattle since the early days of ranching and it costs them dearly. Cattle ranching is a business, the cows aren't pets, every time they lose a calf to a coyote those families lose a paycheck. Cattle ranchers hate coyotes just as much as Farmers hate hogs! We hunt coyotes to protect the livelihood of our friends and neighbors that depend on their cattle business to feed their family...

Great show Hans & Jason! Thanks for our conversation Tuesday as I inquired about the Wraith Sightmark thermal. After your recommendation to look at it but also the AGM Rattler TS-35 - 384, I called and spoke with your staff to place order for the AGM Rattler. Thanks for insight on these thermals relative to my use. I appreciate your expertise and anxiously await delivery of the new scope. Thanks for your professionalism and be blessed my friend!
Thank you so much!! We really appreciate your business and the kind words. It’s means a lot to us that you chose to do business with us. If you need any help when you get the scope don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you again!
Good topic and All the NV scopes are good choices. I have been real happy with the C50, the only negative to it is weight. The AGM Neith also does a good job with gathering ambient light.
As you know I scan with Thermal and Have NV on rifle, which I like the ability to positively ID my target.
One more thing, for all the new people getting into this very addictive hobby, You will use your scanner way more than your scope.
Great topic! I ran Flir 320 monocular and pulsar digisight when I first started night hunting 2017 era. This setup worked well for what it was for sure! Whatever you do don’t look through your buddies 640 thermal scope as that will change the game lol. 👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Haha! Yep it’s easy to get ruined by looking through a high resolution 640.🤣
I want to give a big shout out to Outdoor Legacy. Watched a ton of their videos and did a bunch of research on what I bought. Spoke to Hans a couple of times this week…he answered all my questions and provided a lot of insight. Can’t wait to start hunting with the scope and monocular I purchased.
Thank you so much Johnny! We truly appreciate your kind words and choosing to do business with Outdoor Legacy.
Love my Taipan TM19-384 & Wraith 4K Max you guys helped me decide on! Best starter combo in my opinion! Keep up the great work Outdoor Legacy!!
Great to hear! Thank you Clint!👊🏼👊🏼
I bought my adder TS50-384 from y'all early this year and I love it BUT yall are right I need a Monocular now. Saving up
Thank for your business, we appreciate it VERY much!👊🏼👊🏼
It’s definitely fun and addictive for sure.
Yes it is! Thanks for watching
Running the AGM 160 econo hand held , and the wraith mini 4 k with a big bore air gun. The standard light gets dim about 150 yards but is great at 50 to 100 for me in my area. Poor man's range indicator.
you need to give a shot out for the ladies working in the shop. They know the products very well. 🎉
Absolutely! They are amazing! We have the best office staff in business, Michaela, Angela and Jessica are awesome. Thanks for the kind words.
I loved the wraith but all the models i used do not work well at 10 degrees and colder
I'd rather do this setup anyway, even if my budget was $20k. I like the way digital night vision looks. It's more "real" but the Thermal is the ticket for early detection...especially where coyotes are extra spooky (they run from red lights around here)
Do you believe that really updating the firmware. Really makes that much of a difference to the system
Not unless there is some big improvement promised by the manufacturer. We have a whole show on the topic and as a rule we don’t update the firmware on our personal optics unless there is a real reason to. Thanks for watching
Not Maybe, this is the best show
Ha! Thank you very much!😎
So, for the digital night vision scopes, what practical nighttime identification and shooting range do I have on something the size of a coyote?
Our definition of practical and other peoples would differ. With a good IR light 200-250 yards is very do-able. With a great IR light and a lot of skill 250+ isn’t out of the question but we don’t shoot that far at night personally.
Got it, thanks. Good video, lots of useful info here.@@TheLateNightVisionShow
How are the rix Thermal I have been hearing a lot about them here in maine Seems like they can take a beating And traditional zoom
We aren’t currently carrying Rix. We’ve been in discussions with them but we haven’t picked them up yet. We’re still working through some concerns we have
@@TheLateNightVisionShow Well my friend I would love to hear them. I've been in line for a new thermal But I just don't know if it's a payment thing. That's how my first one was or if it's take out a damn bank loan
AGM micro 160, Wraith HD and sniper hog here I bought a few years ago for other purposes than coyote hunting.
I’ve actually hunted coyotes with this and although not IDEAL the little AGM micro worked well enough to spot them, in my area at least. I had absolutely zero idea what it was other than a heat source. Lol.
I took the wraith out 1 time to just look around and ordered the sniper hog light on the way home.. lol. No expert but in my opinion it’s good to go for coyote hunting coupled with a thermal monocular.
For the intended purpose of my purchase everything works well enough and happy to have them. If intended purpose was coyote hunting it would be a different story.
