I had someone staring me down when I shoved on the river and they did something similar to what happened to you. I was staring at the board trying to not give any tells and he flips over his cards without calling just so I could see and hopefully get a tell. For some weird reason at the time I decided to hold my breath at that point which after several seconds my appearance and demeanor changed. The player picked up on this and immediately called which I then rolled over the nuts. The other players at the table said my face turned red and that it appeared I was caught in a bluff when I held my breath. Sadly I haven't tried it since.

I had a disgusting thing happen to me 2 weeks ago at the casino in Stockholm on the bubble inte a tournament, i had A3cc opened on the button and got called by the BB who covered me by like 2bbs, flop come 367 rainbow, he leads and i call, turn 6, he checks, i bet small and he jams, he started to do the same thing you did, holding his breath and staring at the board, so i started to talk to him and said "you did this exact move a couple of hours ago but then you had the nuts?, what are you trying to rep here? A6 or a boat? why would you jam?", and he answered stupidly enough and said "well, I had it last time", the way he said it was so insecure that i called and he rolled over KQo..
      River Q and i bubbled.

I have Tourette's Syndrome, which for me means a large noticeable tic in my neck muscles. I also have social anxiety, so sitting down at a poker table has never been the easiest thing for me. That said, when I'm playing a big hand and go all-in, I pretty much always look "nervous". I actually may be in fact, or it may just be the adrenaline, but either way my tic combined with my anxiety makes me shake quite a bit, uncontrollably unfortunately. Because of this players seem to take this as a tell that I'm bluffing and I tend to get called A LOT when I shove all in. I actually use this to my advantage to really go all-in only when I have the nuts or a hand I know I should be good with. I will go all-in on occasion as a bluff, but typically only when players already see that I have a tight image, and the shaking isn't due to me necessarily having a bluff.

Sometimes it is our own faults...they don't play our cards. Sometimes it is just how the cards fall. Sometimes u make the absolute perfect play where they can't put u on what u have and u get the action only for a one outer to come. It happens. We are all human.
The hardest part of poker is two things...imp; one, choosing the correct table to play. Playing in a 5/10 game with semi pros is definitely gonna be less ROI, and two, controlling ur emotions when things do not go ur way. This is my speculation, and it definitely draws a line between a professional and an amateur.
I had a poker buddy that I used to round with, he pretty much got me into poker and taught me alot, he said he don't how a person plays when they are up, that's easy. Ur in a good mood cuz u just doubled up or whatever...he is more curious how people play when they are losing. And I have seen some really solid players that wins 7 or 8 out of 10 times they play get their nose open and dust off some chips in an easily beatable game. I have also seen other players take a huge gamble calling a huge bet on the turn to hit a gutshot just to win and put that bettor on tilt.
One thing I've learned is when I try the revenge ranges against opponents it's almost like they know my emotions and either put another beat on me (or try to) or they just fold and get outta the way. And I usually lose more trying the revenge range! 😂
I have tried to learn to deal with it better. Walk away from the table, go get some food, hell cash out and go home, then spend some time analyzing; did I make the correct play? Could I played it different? Was it just the fact it was the math of poker?
Down here in Texas they do the double board Omaha bomb pots and then play one hand of Omaha per button orbit. I lost approx 4200 in two back to back sessions because of Omaha...so now I just don't do the bomb pots or Omaha hands except in specific situations. If it's all holdem players and they think Omaha is a two holdem hand type game I may play, but I am extremely cautious. I did win a 1100 pot in an Omaha hand the session I played just after the losses...I was in the small blind with kk86 double suited and called two bucks...I flop top set with an open end straight draw and end up hitting the nuts straight on the turn, I make a check raise pot on turn, and my opponent is trying to decide. He calls with an 86 but I fill up with the set redraw on the river. So basically if I can't hit something like that in the Omaha game I just fold away. Ever since I did that I have literally caught the deck in Omaha, having several AAxx double suited, AAKQ, AAQ9 suited, and I just limp in. If I am first to enter making a $20 pot bet does not make anyone fold, and even limping to repot it doesn't get someone to fold because some players almost always knows I have AAXX or KKxx, then anything can flop, not to mention anything can come on the turn or river. I am not an Omaha player but have a better than most holdem players vantage point. Reminds of the 3/6 limit games I used to play back in the day...no fold em holdem.
Just realize there is variance in this game and even bad players can look like mad geniuses! Best of luck on the felt.

    • @Nosirt
      @Nosirt Před rokem

Worst feeling ever is when you run bad- and it just will not stop. It accumulates. Now all the players think you are on mega tilt (you are!) and even when you get good cards, you get punished. For some reason, it really drives home. Had a session 2 weeks ago, down 3k that week playing 1-3. I started to take records- I had 5(!!!) one/two outer beat in 25 hours of play time. Had 3 flush over flush, 2 set over set, and had 4 Royal pair cracked by smaller pair.
Worst one- I still dream about it. Had A8, heads up, flop AAJ, I checked, villain bets, I raised, villain (drunk out of his mind) called, pot was 300$. Turn AAJJ, I bet 100$, villain shoved 500$, I snap called (mostly thinking we were choking now). River another J, so board was AAJJJ- but I still was thinking with the action we were chopping as he def has ace. Villain flips over his card-- JT. My brain literally broke.
Worst part? He turns to me and says “what do you think I had?! I’m not calling with nothing! Hahah!” GOD FUCK YOU FUCK YOU.

      @brianfloyd2279 Před rokem

@@Nosirt dammit man...yeah the fact he said that to u is just salt in the wound! I've been down those spirals before. I got out of poker for a while. Too much of anything can be bad. Especially when ur on tilt before u even play! A positive mental attitude (PMA) is a good start. Think of a golfer that swings and slices a ball and then he says "I knew I was gonna slice it!" He knew because he envisioned slicing the ball...ur envisioning losing before u sit down...ur thinking "I wonder what beats are in store for me Today", and then when u get a dealt a monster u think "I'm gonna do this or that this time to keep this guy from doing what he did last time so I don't go busted"...only for this new play to make u go busted because that isn't the correct way to play the hand!
U gotta clear ur mind from the losses, and realize u want that guy calling u with a jack, and u want those folks drawing to call, and poker is long term. Play the correct way even after the beats. But I know it's hard. Always evaluate ur play; find a poker buddy u can discuss hands with, keep learning advanced strategy, and grind.
I'm not trying to diminish ur feelings by saying "this is all u gotta do"...because I know how hard this can be.

There are only two types of poker players. Those who can control their emotions and be successful long time winners and those who cannot.
You have to truly believe in your ability to win. No matter the setback.
"Tilt" and "tilting" and "bad beat" should not be words in your vocabulary. They do not exist.
The easiest way to deal with an unfortunate loss is to just repeat the word "good" to yourself, several times. Keep repeating it until the negative thoughts are erased.
You don't need anything else. Just keep repeating that word until you have refocused on your ability to win.

This type of thinking only works after seeing the cards. Because had he checked, now the same logic applies to you- are you betting king high flush? Why? Any one with less flush is not calling because why would they think you’d value anything less than ace high/ king high? So the only hand calling you is ace high flush, which will raise 100% of the time. So by the same logic- if you were checked, you should just check with your King high flush because you won’t get value from weaker flush and will only be raised by ace of hearts.

After he says that he has a set, you should have turned up the 9c. Make it look like you have J9cc.

What tilts me is playing live against a very very very very very weak player who just gets lucky 4-5 hands in a row and winning hands with pair of 8 and your ace king or king queen you can’t make a pair or flush or straight and they just call n call or even betting with the 8 pair and you want to get them so badly but the cards are not hitting …. Yes I tried bluffing them reraising them but they still call ….very frustrating…other sessions it’s like clock work you hit the board you bet they call you win the pot ….that’s p9ker for you

You need to look at it from a different perspective.
The KK hand if you do 3 bet preflop, the AK isn't going away, and also isn't folding that flop, you could have lost a much bigger pot than you did.
The AQ running into AA, at least he was a shorter stack, your loss could have been worse.
Tilting while playing poker is completely out of the question. I played yesterday and got in at 75%, 80%, 80%, 90%, and 95% to win, and lost all 5 hands. Frustrating? Yes for sure. Tilting because of it? Never.
Variance is a bitch, can't do anything about it.
Did I play good? That is the only question that matters.
Absolutely I did, I'd love to be able to get in like that 5x in every session I play in.
If you are however making bad plays, then it's time to leave.
I don't think the K6 hand is calling any more bets after the flop bet, his only option would have been a big check raise if you bet the turn or river, which would have put your JJ in a really tough spot.
The set over set was just a great play from your opponent to fold, he realized that he isn't beating your shove range there. Be happy you got some value for your hand against him. You could have flopped the set and got no callers on the flop or turn bets. As played you added $1500 to your stack, which is a good win in this pot.
I don't know what your starting stack was when you added on at the beginning of the hand, but it's possible you could have won less if you were on a shorter stack, so adding on to be at the max was great.
The KQ getting 2.5 to 1 to call the flop 3 bet is just standard, though the 9 would be much tougher to get paid on than if an ace hit.

that 99 hand, ur reasoning on the river sounds wierd to me. expect him to snap fold all his draws and calls set's? why not check and potentially let missed draws bluff? all his set's are shuvving for value anyways.

1st hand: JJ hand - you check turn and check river when checked to in position on a no flush 8 high board.
2nd hand: KQ hand - you bet 3 ways last to act on a 7TJ two flush board, get check raised.
3rd hand: 99 hand - you never see your opp's trips, quit saying it or being convinced they did. It's possible of course as you never have any bluffs. You don't bet a nut flush draw into 6 players on the flop. You also don't have any straight draws unless they're also clubs.
4th hand: KK hand - first, you don't 3 bet preflop allowing the world to come in behind you. Second, and far more importantly, you don't bet the turn (_and_ then call off the river!?). You allow so much equity to get there without having to pay for it. What did you think the UTG player has the way he played it?
5th hand: AQ hand - do you really think you're good all that often when you get it in?
Short version, you played not so great. The results are not because of bad beats or coolers so quit bringing up those terms. Sometimes I don't think you even know what they mean.
