    Also to add a comment for anyone in this process, make sure to do a basic "tune up"/check! Clean filters, clean spark plugs, clean oil, vacuum leaks, and the such. Some of these can cause a drastic impact when tuning. Take the time to prep before proceeding.

Both the red and green light flash once, pause, then twice, pause, then 3 times, pause, then 4 times, pause, then 5 times. And I used the map for my exact ECU. My ECU is an 88 but my car is a 84.

      It's just cranking over and not starting? Do you smell fuel in the exhaust? You could try to spray a bit of starting fluid in the intake and see if that gets it to go. It would help narrow it down

  • @zhongxina2793

    hey quick question, if in turbo my n/a 1984, (which has a na manual 1984 ecu) should i use the 1984 vg30et or the 1984 vg30e? thanks!

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  Před 3 lety

      If you are still na then you use the vg30e. If you are now NA2t then you use the vg30et. The t is for turbo and the ignition timing is different to keep it safe when running a turbo

      It's been a while, but I do remember connectivity issues with my nistune. I'm not sure a good fix, but I contacted nistune directly for some of my issues and they were always really helpful so I would check out their site and email them. They usually get back to you super fast too

  • @Lebs702
    @Lebs702 Před 3 lety

    I noticed you said how you have to “burn into the ECU” to make the changes permanent and save for the next time you go to start your car. Is there anyway to overwrite a previous burn if you wish to tune things differently in the future?

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  Před 3 lety +2

      When I say burn it into the ecu, basically that means it's saved to the ecu chip and even if you turn the car off and unplug the laptop, your tune will be there. If you want to change the tune in the future, just load your tune, set it up however you want to, and then burn it again. It will just save the new tune in place of the old one. I only warn about being careful to hit the burn button because if you don't save a good tune to your laptop and you accidentally burn a bad tune to it, now you don't have a good tune to reference and you'll have to go back and make it all over again. So make sure to save all the versions of your tune, especially when you make good progress

    Wait, in your tune the "leaner" fuel map cells were bigger numbers, and the richer cells were low (lots of 0s). How does that work??

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  Před 3 lety

      Very high numbers are lean. I'm assuming it's that way for some sort of fine tuning. So about 190 and up to 255 are lean and then increasing it brings it back to 0 and then will go up to around 25-30 in the most rich parts of the map. I think it's just how the nistune software works

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  Před 2 lety

      If you download the rom file pack from the nistune website it should have all the bin files for each z31 ecu. If you don't see it, I would contact nistune themselves and ask if they have it or if another bin file is compatible.

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  Před 3 lety

      It depends on the year but you need to modify the ecu slightly to bring it from a 7v to a 5v system. Then it's just selecting the z32 maf in nistune and you're good to go

    • @TheZGarage
      @TheZGarage  Před rokem +1

      Sorry it took so long to get back to you. CZcams didn't tell me you had commented. I believe early 84 ecus were different than later styles. This is probably why they think it's not compatible with your ecu. I recommend getting a newer ecu anyways as the 84 ecus are known to be unreliable and you don't want to modify something with issues because you'll spend a lot of time and money diagnosing something that's just bad to start with

      Na is pretty limited in power. You'd get better power gains with cams than a tune. If you really want power, do the NA2t. It's the cheapest option and the vg can make a lot of hp before having to be built

      You can get all the stock parts for less than about $700 from someone with a parts car. Upgrading stuff to make more Powe will cost a bit more with an intercooler, piping, etc. Probably 1k-1.2 for a good build if you get everything right the first try
