In the modern Era, there are some who don't mind, even prefer, the imagery to compliment their book of shadows. The spell work is put in by the recipient as, from what I understand, it's a highly personal process. Not just the spells but the book in general. Hope this helps a bit! Do you have a favorite size you go for when you make journals? I'm planning a journal but i have a hard time with choosing the size because i don't have a favorite, i'm just used to a regular notebook in A5.
Well.... Not really. I guess I kind of base it on the sizes of the papers I have or want to use. Usually it's 8.5x11. But I also found recently that a semi mini book is really fun too! There's so many options! Thank you for taking the time to watch! XoXo ❤️

As much as I definitely love your book, I wouldn't add so much ornaments because it would be rather uncomfortable for me. I love to both write and draw so my Book is kind of a weird mixture of long texts and illustrations straight out of medieval grimoires. I have the constant urge to redraw these illustrations even if they took me a lot because they don't look "old enough" and I hate it. By the way, may I ask where did you get the small cards with herbs and their descriptions?? Thanks in advance and take care. ♡

@@PinkOddBird The thing is "Book of Shadows" is not an artistic object so there is no artistic point of view. You write stuff, you draw stuff with a blessed pen/pencil you almost use your own blood and sweat to create book of shadows. You don't glue or tape stuff.

From my understanding a book of shadows is a very personal thing, which indicates there is PERSONAL preference involved (whether it's drawn, taped or glued in). So why is it you feel that YOUR preferred vision of a book of shadows is the only correct one? I hate to say it but it does sound a little like gatekeeping. I've created many book of shadows and those who own them are having no qualms creating in them as they wish. 🙁 I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but thanks for sharing your opinion.
Jade there's no reason to be deliberately obtuse. It's a book of shadows in a junk journal style. That's obvious even if it wasn't being stated. If it's not the book of shadows for you that's fine, but there's no reason to dump on it. You're not the definitive source of what makes a book of shadows a book of shadows. And if you consider yourself a witch in even the slightest degree you would do well too consider how much negativity you're putting out into the world with negative comments like these.

That's not a book of shadows. Seems like wedding book. Laces, flowers some collected items... That's catalog.
The good news is art is subjective. Some people who use a book of shadows prefer a book in this style. It may not be your preference, and that is totally okay. Thanks for watching!
Not you gate keeping Books of Shadows. There's more than one style of book, get educated.
@@PinkOddBird The thing is "Book of Shadows" is not an artistic object so there is no artistic point of view. You write stuff, you draw stuff with a blessed pen/pencil you almost use your own blood and sweat to create book of shadows. You don't glue or tape stuff.

Yes i am not the gate keeper of the book of shadows (that would be an awesome job title) but i know how book of shadows are made and that is not a book of shadows.
@@TheRahorakhty once again, it's subjective. Artistic or not, every thing in every form on earth evolves over time. And if someone prefers to have a book of shadows, that has "bos" related imagery in it as they use their "blood and sweat" to continue creating inside of it....I think it's THEIR prerogative. Not really your call to make I don't believe. From my understanding a book of shadows is a very personal thing, which indicates there is PERSONAL preference involved (whether it's drawn, taped or glued in). So why is it you feel that YOUR preferred vision of a book of shadows is the only correct one? I hate to say it but it does sound a little like gatekeeping. I've created many book of shadows and those who own them are having no qualms creating in them as they wish. 🙁 I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but thanks for sharing your opinion.

Jade there's no reason to be deliberately obtuse. It's a book of shadows in a junk journal style. That's obvious even if it wasn't being stated. If it's not the book of shadows for you that's fine, but there's no reason to dump on it. You're not the definitive source of what makes a book of shadows a book of shadows. And if you consider yourself a witch in even the slightest degree you would do well too consider how much negativity you're putting out into the world with negative comments like these.
