    I work at a Toyota dealer and see this pretty regularly. This vehicle was 100% jump started backwards. It always pops the alternator fuse as well as a handful of others. As you found, it just needs the PITA alternator fuse and others replaced, and they usually fire right up with no other damage.

      I also think at least once it was boosted from the PCM bracket because the PCM was burnt.

    Holy crap that's a lot of blown fuses 😂
    Reverse polarity jump start? Sabotage? How could a 2022 end up at an auction?? 🤔

    • @advancedleveldiagnostics
      @advancedleveldiagnostics  Před 6 měsíci +5

      I'm leaning towards reverse polarity jump start because the 12v battery was dead and the PCM was burnt, which I've seen happen when you boost it from the PCM bracket. The line they say about the auction is "Not every car in the auction is messed up, but every messed up car goes to the auction" 😂

    Whenever you have some free time (LOL) a video on schematic reading would be very helpful & appreciated by some of us out there. When I took the automotive course at a community college the electrical instructor never showed up so we all missed out.

    Can you go over a lab scope for basic use? I just really need it for signals and confirming diag. Don't really need something as advance as Pico but would like an Amp clamp. Thanks!

    It sounds like someone was under that hood who shouldn't have been there. With today’s modern vehicles, even something as seemingly simple as jump-starting a vehicle can quickly turn into a costly mistake. This serves as a perfect example of what not to do. I once had a case study where a customer had a power steering leak and a well-meaning neighbor came over to help by filling up the power steering fluid. Unfortunately, they accidentally filled the brake reservoir instead. Long story short, the insurance company ended up totaling the vehicle. The moral of the story is simple: don't mess with something you don't understand. It's crucial to have a licensed independent garage inspect any issues to avoid costly mistakes and potential damage.

    I have a 2022 sienna, it suddenly starts draining the battery, had to boast the car about six times before going to a Toyota dealership, the did diagnosis and said kick sensor is the culprit, I don't have warranty left and they say it cost almost 6k to fix, and it hasn't been a year since I got the car😩😢😩 don't know what to do, cuz that's expensive!

    Why would something like this not be covered under warranty? Does the fact that it ended up at an auction have anything to do with that (why is a 2022 at an auction)?

    • @advancedleveldiagnostics
      @advancedleveldiagnostics  Před 6 měsíci

      It had over 36,000 miles, I think that is the whole warranty. There was also clearly a burnt PCM I think they would void the warranty for that.

    Lightening strike?
    Or maybe someone welding on the car somewhere and had their ground in a bad spot and it sent power through the harness?
    Strange

    • @advancedleveldiagnostics
      @advancedleveldiagnostics  Před 6 měsíci

      I think it was reverse boosted, especially since the 12V battery was dead when they got it. Also the PCM was burnt which I've seen happen from boosting from the PCM bracket, since the battery is in the trunk.

    • @advancedleveldiagnostics
      @advancedleveldiagnostics  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I don't think they will blow again, I think it was reverse boosted, and probably also boosted from the PCM bracket because it was burnt.

    • @advancedleveldiagnostics
      @advancedleveldiagnostics  Před 6 měsíci

      I didn't see a need for a break out box because it was either missing a power or ground, since my VCI didn't light up.
