When People ask me if they should buy a 5 String Bass or 4 String Bass. This is what I tell them / tblakk666 / druiddeathcult / spcustomguitarsusa / killingaddiction / demonnotes / blakk.druid
I have a 5 String Electric Bass that I purchased from Gutar center when I was in Fifth Grade. I tune mine down a half step to Eb Standard with a Low Bb because the higher notes are much easier on my singing voice. The 5 String Bass eliminates the need to use an extension when playing lower notes especaily for Upright Bassists.
I learned about 5 string sets for my 4 strings a few years ago and never went back. 125 -65 or 120-65 sets. my ltd is an extended range bass so it keeps the low end super nice compared to my Thunderbird though, so thats also something to consider. Awesome video thanks for sharing!
They do. Schecter has it's EX versions and many 35" basses are sold with BEAD tuning and strings. Music Man Stingrays are 34" and i read that they are good for BEAD conversions. And a good setup after buying is a must for me and can be done with your set of strings and the tuning you prefer.
Ive always noticed that heavy rock players will refer to their basses as a guitar. Where a jazz or R and B player call it a bass. Lots of rock bass players were guitar players and wind up on bass by default and play with a pic where R and B or jazz players use their fingers or thumb.
Yeah I’ve noticed that too. I just watched an interview with John Paul Jones and he said he couldn’t believe people paid him to play guitar. He was the bass player lol
Love my 5 string lol. I literally did the 4 string with BEAD but I have a 5 string with BEADG and then another with ADF#CF. Love it so much. Some song I feel like I absolutely have to use my 4 string with though. So love them both in the end.
Thank you soooo much, i just bought an awesome transparent 4 string but I play metal, so I need that low sound, I didn't know that this was an opinion:)
This could be a slightly limited option 4 but admittedly, I usually play in Drop D and only sometimes need Low B. I do like 4 string basses however, I don't think that I would buy one. Rather, I prefer a 5 string, stringing up my 5 string bass with a High C--dumping the dedicated Low B--and then using a HipShot Bass Extender with an optional Double Stop Lever to get an open Low E, Low D, and a Low B all on my E string. I also up my E string to a 110 gauge to up the tension a bit on that string; especially for when I am in either in Low D or Low B.
What kind of bass is that? At first I thought it was an LTD bass and it reminded me of the ESP LTD F-1004 or maybe the ESP LTD F-204 but it's different from them and the only other brand that comes to my mind that does crazy shaped basses and guitar is Bc Rich but for what I know none of their basses looks like that.
It's a custom SP. Scott Pivarnick makes them to order in North Carolina. He's made guitars for Suffocation, Possessed and Exhorder. You should check him out. His guitars are one of a kind
@@tonyblakk2813 Very understandable, most 5 strings basses have way to thick of a neck, Carcass uses a 4 string bass for a reason, for example, because it's way easier to play while doing vocals at the same time.
I have a seven string tuned to B, but I prefer a six with bigger strings tuned to B. Another cool trick for seven string guitars is to tune them BEADF#BE.
My next bass will be a 3 string!!!!

G strings always look better on the floor IMHO sounds like the best option to me...
hahahaha. that is true
I didn't know you could do that. Thank you for that great tip!! 👍🤘♥️👌

I wish manufacturers would make BEAD basses

*You're in good company bro... Ross Valory of **_Journey_** has been using 4-string basses in low B/E/A/D tuning for decades...*
This guy deserves more subs

throwing away a perfectly good g-string? That's not like you, I figured you would make a g-string g-string
Pretty solid info 👍🏻

Thank you I am going to do the same but with guitar. Buy 7 pack just use lower 6.
gonna do this instead of buying a 5string thanks for the video. that G string always felt useless to me
121212 at the 12th fret would be sick

I would say just buy a five string if you would play all round music or just metal
The key advantage of the wider string spacing.
I used to do that type of thing on my first guitar until I bought a 7 string,
I bought a 5 string bass but hated it
