  • The pharisee's accuse the disciples of eating without washing their hands, and Jesus uses the occasion to address their hypocrisy.

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (May 18), Matthew 15:1-11, 15-20, was the basis for our Sunday School Lesson for today. It was entitled "Jesus' Teaching on the Law." The hymn, Christ, Be Our Light, written and composed by Bernadette Farrell, is a good hymn to compliment this Scripture, regardless of your denomination.

While it is true that there was no explicit mention of infant baptism in the Bible, but there is no verse that explicitly says "Do not baptise infant"! as well. In fact Jesus commanded "teach all nations and baptise them.." - therefore all are included. Children are important to God and our Lord Jesus - "...suffer them not to come to Me". Also, whole households were baptised in the Bible. These are some of the biblical basis that baptising children or infant on behalf of their parents' faith is acceptable.
