In '88, I was all about Run-DMC, Pee-Wee's Playhouse and Squeeze-It juice drinks!
Born in 88 great seeing how life was back then
God damn it!
I miss the 80’s😢
Me too, bad. What great and much simpler times
I was 14 in '88.... Best.Summer.Ever.
1984, 1985, and 1986 were my favorite years.
Loved the80s.I graduated high school in 1988.Such a great&carefree time in life
I am born in 88. I am watching to see how the world was.
In '88 I was a 9-10 y/o latchkey kid. I remember staying up late on the weekends watching Nick at Nite. Hard to believe it's been over 30 years.
I miss McDLT and my dad.
Those Nick At Night ads take me back to my teenage bedroom.
All I need is a bag of Funions & a Trapper Keeper full of homework.
1988 for life!
"The braun coffee maker brewes coffee simply. Because life is complicated enough at 7am" might be the most brilliant and most true thing I have ever heard from a commercial
1988 was a great year!
1987 was, I was 17 and it just seemed like the world was mine...now I'm 51 and that sure did change.
Same here, I was 18 that year. Probably one of the happiest years of my life.
im 28 now, and its safe to say, i remember the late late 90s and early early 2000s like yesterday. Yall had it best. Better times to live, and so much simpler and funner.
@@DANNY10MADRID We had awesome bands coming out also like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana. R&B was also exploding around that time as well. Tribe Called Quest was my fave
@@oceanblue5794 Tribe is a classic. Love their kind of music. Nirvana is a hit, and always will be. Great times.
Ditto
I’ll never get tired of watching these commercials ❤️
Was that Rosanna Arquette in the Poloroid commercial?
That’s what I thought!
Yes
I was trying to figure out who she was. Thank you Alex
Yeah it was.
Strange because she was at the peak of her career.
Unlike the movie stars of today celebrities of the 1980’s rarely endorsed products in the U.S.
I wonder if it was for a foreign market.
Commercials using mainstream American stars were pretty common practice in Asia at the time.
Michael J Fox and Joe Piscopo were doing Pepsi and Bud Light commercials at the height of their careers back then as well.
You could say, Rosanna was more well known for being a muse. Just ask Toto and Peter Gabriel.
The Braun coffee maker is a true late 80s-early 90s icon.
It sure was! I loved that coffee maker so much. I had a few KF40s over the years.
My favorite one was a deep red.
Good.
Deebo at 1:15 🤣🤣🤣
I knew it!!!!
Zeus
Rosanna Arquette too
That niqqa deebo
No holds barred.. 80's kids knew him first as zeus. He wasnt deebo for a few years after this.
I was loving the Def leppard Hysteria album, and Appetite for destruction by GNR. 80s music was the best.
Is it me or at 5:13 is the opening chord to Nick at Nite the same as A Hard Day's Night?
The 80's style is back. Everything in this commercials is what's trendy today in the tiktok era.
The 90s has always been around since really. It was the stepping stone to what we have today in terms of tech.
@@DANNY10MADRID precisely
@HUB GOBLIN I have always told people. The simple fact we awe about the 90s for having better shows, movies, etc, because today people just dont pay as much attention, and appreciate tv like we did in the 90s, because we had no other choice. It's kind of like wrestling. The mid 90s was argubaly the worst time for the WWF with horrible gimmicks, and story lines which were pretty cringey, but still got over because people had no choice to watch and enjoy and not complain unlike today we have so much to pick from, hence why because no one cares about tv, and only stream content, or youtube, social media etc. Imagine being introvert in the 80s, or 90s.. it would be hell without the internet to express your self compared to today being so so easy.
Nothing compared to "Tik Tok"
Kids were Actually OUTSIDE not sucking up all the WiFi they can get
This is Gold and Creative ... today is over saturated with lame influences
@@nelsonumama3632 u got a point
1988 might have been that last of the greatest years ever.
1988 was a BIG Year for Nickelodeon, We got Count Duckula,
Nick Jr., Looney Tunes on Nickelodeon, and More!❤️📺🎶
Sadly we missed out on the merch, and home computer games Count Duckula had in the UK
I think I still have an old Count Duckula comic book that my dad had gotten me. It had a Danger Mouse comic on the back inside cover. That's a good memory :)
Wow.
Shot out to a young Sam Rockwell on the MasterCard commercial
I don’t remember nick at night bc I was buried under a mountain of books and schoolwork.🤦🏼♀️ 😂 Honestly would still prefer that over staring at computer screens.
That Fuji commercials is slick!
I lost my mama in November of 88,
I was 15, not a good year for me. Still nice to reminisce.
Is that Sam Rockwell at 4:19?!?
His first staring role as "The Pusher"
This is EPIC 😁
Luke Perry Mars Bar commercial
I Knew it! (RIP) Mr. Perry!
I'm a huge fan of his son Jungle Jack Perry in AEW, and it's even cooler now that he comes out to the song Tarzan Boy!!, it's truly sad his father never got to see him shine his biggest, and brightest.
I love your channel. Thank you
I was 12 in 88 I had those L.A gears lol
You are born in 1976 so this means that your are a later generation Xer
Same !
I was 7 at the time, and at least in my school LA Gear was just not that popular when parents found out they did not hold up so well.
I was 13 and used to wear one blue Chuck and one red Chuck lol. Skater style
I just love your channel
Those Nick and Nite shows seemed absolutely ancient back then but it's like watching Full House or Friends today, and I used to look forward to those free Disney Channel weekends.
Luke Perry in the Mars bar commercial at 6:54
Yes, 1988 was my favorite year:) Thank you Dave! I wish I could give most of your vids two thumbs up.
Found Luke Perry in the Mars Bars commercial
@1:14 R.I.P. Debo "Tiny" Lister
Thanks Dave! Tell me... could that possibly be Luke Perry (RIP) at 6:55??? & that mike even be Rhonda Shear in the Polaroid Commercial.
Debo at 1:09 too.
I was just about to point out Luke Perry in the Mars Bar commercial but I checked the comments first! 😊
He was a big hit in 1988, and 89. He took part of summerslam with Hulk Hogan
@@DANNY10MADRID Speaking of wrestling his son Jungle Boy aka Jungle Jack Perry in AEW is awesome coming out to his new theme song Tarzan Boy, and he got a really nice win last night over Dax Harwood.
Thought it was Rosanna Arquette
I was 24 and a college student at Penn State. Best years of my life!
5:43 nick at night was the best! Loved dragnet!
1988 was the best year by default because that's the year I was born 😁
I turned 21! Now I really feel old!
@@thrashpondopons2776 LOL its all good I bet you can remember a lot of good stuff from the 80s as it was all happening though 😃👍🏽
@@BatmanPops Well... parts of it! there are some large gaps, particularly it in the late 80's! (so it must have been a good decade!)
Not bad, i hope you show more saturday morning commercials soon.
Yes please especially if it’s from 1984
We'll see.
Whoa - My Great Recipes - I haven't seen that commercial in over 30 years yet I remembered every word for some reason!?
1986 was my favorite year.
He just posted an 86er! It had some great stuff!
Mine too.
@@thrashpondopons2776 thx, I'll check it out!
This was awesome, thank you for taking me back.
2:22 Percy Rodrigues voices a commercial for "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."
At 06:45 that was TOTALLY Luke Perry in that Mars bar commercial!
Is that Sam Rockwell at 4:20, trying to get the kid to do drugs?
Totally looks like him!
It's gotta be. Two years later he was handing out cigarettes to kids in the Ninja Turtles movie!
whoa and at 4:20. I see what you did there, @davesarchives
The year I was born! 🙌🏻
New fav channel
omg i love your channel im passing awayyyy ahhh
1:08 R.I.P Tom"Tiny" Lester .
Yes cos i was born in 1988 ☺️
Born in 84, so I don't really remember any of these, but they sure give me an odd sensation.
What many people don’t know about Ken Bone is that he was in MasterCard commercials in the 80s.
RIP Zeus aka Debo in the Polaroid commercial!!
Amazing that back then when you ordered something that they didn't charge you for shipping.....
Today it's, SHIPPING, PROCESSING,HANDLING, TAXES, FEES and anything else that they can add.
BUT WAIT ! YOU CAN DOUBLE YOUR ORDER FOR FREE.......JUST PAY A SEPARATE FEE !
Yeah that’s why Amazon Prime is clutch
Wow.
Nice memories.
10:51 Whoa, commercial inception!
Rest in peace Deebo 1:13
Missing the infamous Time Life mysteries of the unknown commerical that would air heavily on that channel that year.
Viacom should run a stream of all their old tapes from Nickelodeon. They would get so many viewers. Just stream all the old commercials and shows. Roll tape.
Still wanting on my 2020 Disney + calendar.
just saw luke perry in the mars ad
Nick At Nite was so different compared to todays Nick at Nite and I remember those commercials
1988 would have to be my favorite year because that was when I was born.
You have absolutely zero memory of it. That year most likely sucked for you. You spent all of it in diapers going to the bathroom on yourself. You spent all of that year needing to be spoonfed by someone. And you spent all of that year not being able to formulate a sentence, let alone speak it
Me too.
1990 was a good year.
Did you come out that year
Wow.
... Sitting just watching commercials, Halfway thru I realise, I'm living out Demolition Man!
I miss Nick at Nite.
Me too. It’s so bad now.
I do.
How great was Nick at Nite? Nickelodeon in general in its heyday was great. Now like everything else it's crap.
Nick really did go downhill in the 00's, but the yep the mid 80's - mid 90's really where their golden years.
In 2000 and 2001 i was 7, and 8, and i loved nick at night. loved watching the repeat of full house, afraid of the dark, and many shows also that were classics. Never would i imagine a childhood special like spongebob to still exist today, and boy does it.. beyond its due date.
I loved it when Nick at Nite played the old SNLs, Cheers, etc.
I loved Nick at Nite: Donna Reed, Mr. Ed, Car 54!
What.
Could someone Shazam the Honda Accord commercial so we can find out what the music?
Ah, my birth year
Paul Mooney talking about the raisins
*"I'm writing a sitcom. It's a show about nothing."* 📝
_"What did you do today?"_ ❔
*"That's an episode !"* 🤓
It was a great year that's for sure
California Raisins brought back good memories
i know that aint Debo from Friday (RIP) at 1:09 sec
If you know then why did you ask ? GEDs are still attainable
@@Ijustinsultedyou maybe u need to get urs if u cant recognize sarcasm
@@ModService it’s yours not urs. We all know who needs a GED and who does not.
Oooooh.
Rosanna Arquette in the Polaroid Commercials
Great batch, Dave: that Polaroid commercial is a mini movie; notice how well dressed everyone one is; anyone know the la gear models? And how g? quaint are the " my great recipe" cards!!
I was in elementary school in '88.
When it comes to Nick at Nite, 1988 is MY favorite year.
my graduation year. This brings back good'ol memories of a simpler and happier time. And to think that California Raisns commercial is considered racist now.
Wow. La Gear. British Knights didn't last long either
They had them in your country ?
Why ?.
I miss the nick at night shows from the 80s . Ugh. 😢🥲😢😢
32 years later....
I wish Mars had never renamed the American Mars bar to Snickers Almond. Snickers Almond is one of my favorite candy bars, but I don't see why changing the recipe (as they did) required them to also change the name. Why couldn't they have just called it a "new and improved" Mars bar? (In any case, Mars is rather notorious for regularly renaming their candy bars). I was still just a kid when Mars bars were discontinued and by the time I was old enough to care and search them out, they were nowhere to be seen. If only I'd been born just a few years earlier...
7:33 Never knew Braun made coffee makers. Was it similar in quality to Bunn-O-Matic?
I was 7 at the time, but I do remember those LA Gear commericals, but they where never as cool as Reebok, BK(British Knights)or Nike in my school.
Same
The California Raisins were so cute. I feel sorry for kids today. All they get is CGI crap and "re-imagined" (otherwise known as copied) ideas, nothing original or memorable. I can name ten commercials from the 80's and 90's that I still remember. I doubt anyone born after 2000 can say the same.
9:25 that commercial reminds me when Disney used to have Disney Magic it's a shame it died about 10 years ago.
I was born in 1988
Good times I was 8
88 I was 15............
So was millions and millions of other people
1989 was great followed by 1998 and 2007
Sudley's shower is nightmare fuel😨
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels premiered on my 11th birthday! I love that movie too 🙂
I know that wasn't Tiny Zeus Lister in that poloriad camera commerical. AKA Deebo
If you know then why did you say something ? IQs are a thing of the past
@@Ijustinsultedyou Just a joke. I knew it was him
I was wearing LA Gear shoes when it was already uncool to be seen with them.
