compiled a bunch of ichiko aoba's covers because i keep seeing them around on youtube and i wanted to have them in one place. the clammbon cover is the only one that's been released officially (in an obscure v/a comp), the rest i ripped off random youtube uploads. because of this, the quality varies (tho i tried to put the best sounding ones up first).

she is one of those artists that make you question... "do i even deserve to listen to this?" because of how unreal the listening experience has been. at least for me, i am still at loss of words on how to describe her. her voice heals me from my worries. i am so grateful i get to know her.
This is one of those comments that elevates my experience because I've always been speechless listening to her, you've helped define how I myself have felt. Hearing other's stories about their time listening to her always sounded more "genuine" of an experience as opposed to my own. Being, that I found her on the internet while daydreaming under sunsets, alone. No heartfelt stories or tragic moments that encompass my experience and enriche it. I have though, come to appreciate everyone's tales and when her voice washes over me I imagine all of your faces and the bliss or sorrow you must have. I hope you're all doing okay

In 2017, I went to see her open for another artist in Hiroshima. She was just starting to gain momentum in Japan but was still relatively unknown, so the venue was sparse until she had nearly finished. After her performance, she set down her guitar and slipped off the stage right into the audience to watch the main act. I walked over, and we shared a brief conversation. She was incredibly warm and gracious, truly an embodiment of her music. Wonderful to see her receiving so much recognition.
Edit: Wow, happy to see that this story resonated with others. To add a bit of context, it's quite common in Japan to feel a barrier when interacting with strangers or new acquaintances. An invisible wall of sorts, in which people project their "public face," or the persona they feel is merited by that social setting. What felt so authentic about Aoba-san was her unassuming demeanor - a willingness to bypass those formalities and simply convey a genuine sense of gratitude to those listening. She came into the audience purely to connect, and I personally have the sense that she seeks to cultivate something parallel in her music :')
That's a fantastic anecdote. I found her a long time ago and just assumed she was already known.

I've loved Ichiko for so long now... She's helped me so much. And all the shows I went to, all the times I met her - she is such a wonderful human being, almost a fairy, a present from nature... I just wish I could meet her once more... but I'm far away now. So I keep listening to these prayers.

i found this this morning after staying up all night, playing games and talking to friends earlier in the evening... i was alone. If i ever could not listen to this i would be a little upset . i love this more than any of the new music i've found recently. perfect to play casual games like grand theft auto alone to. while driving around in an empty public lobby selling cars using an import export vehicle warehouse or playing minecraft trying to gather every high value item when the owner prefers to leave the realm on passive for weeks since the realm opened with no signs of ever changing it
