An Awesome Day of Railfanning in the DC Area! CSX, Amtrak, MARC & More!

On August 7th, a group of friends and I rode Amtrak’s Acela into DC to spend the day with some other local friends from the area. Throughout the day we’d tour around the DC Metro and visit many different spots in the area.
We started our day off in Potomac Yard, a relatively new station on the DC Metro Yellow Line. There is an overpass that crosses over the CSX RF&P sub.
After that stop we had lunch and spent the afternoon touring the Metro.
For the rest of the afternoon before heading back to Union, we went to the Spring Street Overpass, a bridge that runs directly over the CSX Met Sub and the DC Metro Red Line.

Is there an app/website you use to see where the CSX trains are going?

If I’m not sure on a symbol I can go to railroadfan.com and look up CSX train symbols on there to confirm it’s origin/destination.
