- When we teach CVC words or 3 letter words did you observe we never include the word ‘car’. This is because the vowels change their sound. Vowel sound do not remain same when combined with letter r. When we have a vowel along with letter r , the vowel sound is controlled by letter r. So the letter r is called as Bossy r.
a+r sounds as the word ‘are’ and o+r sounds as the word or. e+r , i+r , u+r sound is same as in ‘bird’.

You can teach during or after cvc words. Start with with very few words like 5 .

Pls can you tell how to explain when to write er or ir or ur?
There is no rule which exactly tells the usage of er ir ur but we can go with common spellings of most of the words. According to this er is mostly used in the end of the word .
ir and ur are mostly used in the middle of the words and moreover ur is more common compared to ir. There are exceptions to these rules as you will find many words that do not fit.
